Big Bad Toy Store is launching it's own line of 1/12 scale civilian action figures. The line is call NPC. First four figures will be a Mob Boss, News Anchor, Cheerleader, and SWAT Officer.

The line is a kickstarter type project, currently already fully funded at 145% with three of the nine unlock tiers unlocked. Tiers consist of accessory packs for each figure as well as cheaper, stripped down figures that don't come with as many accessories as the standard releases do. Standard release figures are $36.99, basic release figures are $29.99, and accessory packs are $21.99. Currently at "Founders Pricing" which means they will probably eventually go up in price down the line. The funding campaign just kicked off with a month to go, so expect all nine tiers to be unlocked by the time the campaign ends.

What are your thoughts on a line of civilians? It's been tried before with limited success, but I think this model could prove to work well. Interested in any of the current choices? What other civilians would you want to see?

Civilians and yet they’re all very specific roles? Also two suit bodies when we have plenty of suited options already between Legends and Adventure Series? A Swat officer when we just got that amazing GI Joe Classified police officer? All we want is people IN PLAIN CLOTHES. People I’d actually see on the street. This isn’t that and probably won’t fund.
>>
More superheroes, especially public domain ones like Phantom Lady, Stardust, and Lady Satan to fight all the npc bad guys they're making.
>>
>>11878622
>This isn’t that and probably won’t fund.
Did you read the OP's post? It's already funded. Collectors are plastic addicts.
>>
Why do they all look like complete dicks? Ugly, ugly sculpts.
>>
>>11878623
Not what this line is for retard.

>>11878622
Yeah, two suited bodies for the first wave is a little much, but the SWAT officer looks pretty cool, and might go well with the GI Joe Classified cops.

>>11878625
What, the SWAT officer looks pretty cool and different enough for the Joes ones that I wouldn't mind owning both. Not really in it for the News guy, the mobster or the cheerleader though.
>>
>>11878625
Honestly got so annoyed I didn’t read it super closely, but I’m surprised it funded honestly.
>>
Feel like I should know who this is since they always reference things with these head sculpts
>>
>>11878616
I'm kind of interested, but the only one I really care about from the first wave is the cheerleader, and the prototype doesn't really impress me. I'm not sure if any of her variants will change my feelings.
>>11878622
The suit molds are probably borrowed from their Operation Monster Force line.

What’s with the back to back monkey paws?
>>
They might be too cartoony but civilians have had figures for awhile

Maybe a good use for all those power rangers lighting collection heads nobody wants
>>

>>11878646
>>11878647
Yeah these are exceedingly ugly and each pack is $80.
>>
>>11878636
lol is this one supposed to be Bobby?
>>
>>11878650
$20 per figure, yeah
Doesn't fix them being ugly but Hasbro singles are $27 and OPs are $37 so what's your point about the price
>>
>>11878641
>>
>>11878653
Seems rather obvious
>>
>>11878655
Do you know the second reporter or if the cheerleaders are anyone
>>
>>11878654
>what's your point about the price
A background npc should inherently cost less than a named character. There's no reason for these to have half the articulation and accessories they come with.
>>
>>11878661
They do cost less
Have you seen how much wrestling figures cost
>>
>>11878647
>>11878650
>>11878654
>>11878661
Yeah I know this guy is retarded but how can this company I've never heard of make robot chicken tier sculpts for twenty bucks a figure but Hasbro is leaning to $30 for their GI Joe line
>>
>>11878663
You mean the lowest tier of them with sub-standard articulation you can get for $13 a piece? Yeah, the npcs should be the equivalent to that
>>
>>11878661
>A background npc should inherently cost less than a named character
The fact that named characters are produced in larger quantities kind of nullifies that thanks to economies of scale.
>>
The name of the line is eye-rollingly bad. One female figure in the first wave, and its a cheerleader? They couldn't make it a nurse, or EMT, or even a breastaurant server? I would be curious how a line of figures based on retail and service industry jobs would do: barista, line cook, delivery driver, personal trainer, the list goes on.
>>
>>11878677

What do you mean

No accessories and low paint

>breastaurant
That typo, top kek.
I'm pretty lukewarm on these, though I support the idea.
>>
>>11878710
No I think that was intentional on Anon's part, breastaurants are places like hooters where the waitress dress skimpy, I assume anon means that because their attire would be more noticeably different than most restaurant wait staff where they wear regular clothes.
>>
>>11878640
Welcome to America, anon.
>>
I'd rather have a normal Sarah Connor type kiss my grits waitress.
>>
>>11878714
I went to Hooters for the first time in years and I have to say the waitresses really aren't that scantily clad anymore. The outfits haven't changed, but it's just when you compare them to what the average 20 something year old woman wears out to Target, the Hooters girls come off a tad more modest. The bar has dropped so low that Hooters whole gimmick is kind of a moot point now.

Kinda Peter Finch in Network?
>>
>>11878714
Ah, I thought he may have meant it that way, but didn't want to presume.
The cheerleader is a member of the IBTC, and their camp councilor really needs to go up at least a cup size.
>>
Ive been seeing people talk about getting these cheerleaders for their Jason figure to kill since Comic Con and it must be something Jason toy collectors just think of whenever they see a cheerleader because I dont know if these are even marketed as victims considering theres no screaming face
>>
Why do Asians make stuff like diaclone or Gundam and Americans make this normal people dolls?

Is it any surprise when funko pop existed for the longest time?
>>
>>11878791
>Why do Asians make stuff like diaclone or Gundam and Americans make this normal people dolls?
Because Asians aren't really people and are more like robots, so they can't relate to normal people dolls.
>>
>>11878623
I was confused and thought that was a musical I don't remember much of, but that was Madam Satan.
>>
>>11878800
are you telling me Asians are inhuman and Americans are better yet need Asians to make dolls for them?
>>
>>11878616
I like the Cheerleader Captain and the TV anchor. The swat guy is kinda redundant for an action figure, but he has some cool bonus sets. I'm surprised they didn't go with a Cop instead. I would like to see a construction worker or maybe a Paleontologist with some cool digging and fossil accessories.
>>
>>11878643
>>11878647
What are these supposed to be for exactly? WWE and AEW figures don’t match this style
>>
>>11878843
You don't need fans for an AEW display. A row of empty chairs is more appropriate.

>>
>>11878868
Good idea. Versatility is key to this line, especially if they're charging so much. News anchors and mob bosses aren't background characters either. That's a case of the designers misunderstanding the assignment. I don't think they really thought this shit through in terms of what toy collectors actually want in a 1/12 rando.
>>
>>11879133
I went to high school with someone like that. He would ram through hallway crowds in his electric wheelchair, insult everyone, then turtle up and get declared the victim when anyone got in his face about it. It's not anyone else's fault that his parents had shitty DNA.

Part of me hopes the line succeeds so they can reissue a variant of the mob boss based off of Mr. Big from NARC.

>>
>>11879058
You are such a loser
>>
>>11879058
Someone get a picture of him with The Hood.
>>
>>11878868
They should definitely include accessories. Why specifically zombies? Mystic Legions has provens that an accessory pack of things like heads (not just weapons) works and sells, and that's all they need to do but as >>11879177 points out, these are expensive

>>11879177
>toy collectors actually want in a 1/12 rando
True
I can, for example, get a civilian to be beaten up by say a Daredevil or a Batfam member, or any other street level hero (even the TMNT turtles) just by using some of the jean and casually dressed Marvel Legends bodies and fake up some street level crime, a mugging, a bank robbery, etc.
ALL without having to shell of $29.99 much less $39.99 for these. The cheerleader might be worthwhile for the head, but no one is going to buy a $29/$39 random blond head.
