Are you having fun now that companies know and acknowledge it's mostly adults with huge amounts of money buying these toys for themselves, and are acting on that information? Do you feel cherished yet? Do you feel absolutely treasured and loved?
>>
Yes
>>
>>11878642
>more toys nobody needs
barf
>>
>>11878642
Definetly! For year I decades i collected import only because western toys of western properties were shit with their pins, ab crunch cuts and clumpy paint. Now we have new Mattel MOTU and Jada Scooby Doo amongst others I feel like this is boomer time!
>>
>>11878642
>Lil bro is crashing out because $40 prices him out of toys
Holy shit, you guys are such babies. I just dropped $800 in parts to build a new SBR now that the NFA has been cucked. That's before adding the optic and a suppressor so throw on another $1000 or so between the two. And that's considered a cheap deal for the DDM4 I got. Toys are probably my cheapest hobby, I don't even want to think about how much money I've spent on guns, gear, and ammo, but it definitely outpaces how much I spend on toys. Shit, my entire gaming setup, PC, monitors, and peripherals is around the $4K ballpark if you add everything up. Shit, I spent nearly $10K last year in house renovations. Stop whining over like $40, it's absolutely pathetic.
>>
>>11878642
Also,

>Do you feel cherished yet? Do you feel absolutely treasured and loved?
How fucking old are you? You are an absolute fucking baby lmao.
>>
>>11878671
Just because you can afford something doesn't mean you should be ok with prices ballooning out of inflation ballparks. You're not automatically destitute or poor if you complain about it and no one here is impressed by how much you can spend.
>>
>>11878697
Bro, I could fart away $40 and not even realize it. You are actually broke if you think this is any kind of big deal.
>>
>>11878642
Do you feel like you're responsible for higher prices and shittier availability?
Yes.
>>
>>11878704
Anon no one is impressed.
>>
>>11878704
Why not give thousands to charity yearly then?
>>
>>11878697
Everything is ballooning in price, not just toys. /toy/ acts like this is exclusive to whatever company they dislike the most when in reality, this is just the way it is in 2026. Also, when accounting for inflation and the value of the dollar, toys are overall cheaper than they were two decades ago.
>>
>>11878739
Charities are scams and actual detriments to the economy. Turns out most of them are fraudulent anyway.
>>
>>11878642
Kids should know their place in the world. As meat and tradable flesh. We have won.
>>
>>11878741
But you don't sweat the money so why care? How about every time you buy produce there's gonna be an extra $10 fee. Just because.
>>
>>11878642
hope you realize the economy is going to the shitter, use better your cash retard
>>
>>11878749
Because I simply do not want to. Deal with it bitch boy.
>>
>>11878741
Keep telling yourself that so you don't have to give to them

>>11878740
>when accounting for inflation and the value of the dollar, toys are overall cheaper than they were two decades ago.
The equivalent to a Marvel Legends standard figure in 2006 would need to have cost $16.90 at the time for them to even cost the same as today by inflation calculators. I don't recall regular action figures being that high priced in 2006.

If we compare 2016 pricing to today's ML's are actually twenty cents cheaper than they should be, if we adjust for inflation.

Should've said 1 decade and not 2 decades

>Do you feel cherished yet? Do you feel absolutely treasured and loved?
What is this cringe? The implication is if $5 toys marketed for kids to buy with their allowance/lawn mowing money or whatever dominated the toy market it would make you feel treasured and cherished like wtf?? Lol

>>11878697
It’s pretty weird to see richfags bragging about being rich. Like who do they expect is going to cheer for them? Even other richfags won’t care. I guess the point is just the pure enjoyment they get from being assholes to others and looking down on them.

But anyway I agree. If something costs $5 to make and selling at $10 allows them to cover all business expenses and make a reasonable profit but if they charge $50 for no reason other than greed, I am going to be pissy because that’s unfair bullshit. It doesn’t really matter if I can afford it, it's still bullshit. throwing away money just because you can is kinda retarded. Sometimes I’ll see a video game on sale for $3 or something and while I could "fart away" $3, I still hesitate or pass because I don’t need it.

Toys really don’t need to be that expensive and don’t need to be some elite luxury. It’s not yacht club or pedophile island or some other such elite hobby, it’s just little plastic men so it sucks that normal people can’t have even that.
>>
>>11878847
Normal people can afford these prices. You make it sound like spending $50 on your hobby is the end of the world. Again, most actual adults with big boy hobbies spend far more than that. It's not an elitist thing. It's a /toy/ is fucking poor thing.
>>
>>11878642
i mostly buy import toys so i was already paying higher prices than this
$35 for hasbro's garbage is insulting though
>>
>>11878847
>I am going to be pissy because that’s unfair bullshit.
I don't understand why people keep thinking that companies can do this.
It's the free market niggas. If anyone is making huge profits off shit figures is asking to get their ass handed to them by another company doing it better for less.
>>
>>11878847
>What is this cringe? The implication is if $5 toys marketed for kids to buy with their allowance/lawn mowing money or whatever dominated the toy market it would make you feel treasured and cherished like wtf?? Lol
It's a meme, anon. Perhaps you've heard of them.
>>
>>11878880
Licenses exist, anon. There is not a free market in the action figure industry due to the governmental interference that is intellectual property. Not just anyone can make Marvel figures or DC figures for example. So people who want figures of those characters are stuck and either buy shit (Hasbro/McFarlane/Mattel), very little (imports), or nothing at all.

netayahoo, but you have the right idea
>>
>>11878697
I'm not claiming to be rich. I'm just saying if $40 is enough of a burden that you need to stress out this much about it, you shouldn't be spending your money on frivolous things like toys.
>>
>>11878642
>Hasbro, Mattel and McFarlane trash
I'm good thank you
>>
>>11878642
I'm not a child so yeah, I'm having a blast. And why are you pretending like there aren't cheaper kids oriented lines available? Mattel literally just put out a new line of DC figs that costs $12 a pop. These collectors style figures were never meant for literal children anyway.
>>
>>11878878
>Normal people can afford these prices
>most actual adults with big boy hobbies spend far more than that
Seems like you are just out of touch. Normal = majority and considering over half of the US lives pay check to pay check, no most adults are not spending that much on non essential hobbies because they can’t afford it. Most people fall in the poor category anon. Plus it’s not a one time $50 purchase is it? The hobby is collecting multiple figures, not a random one off purchase and with these prices it’s becoming inaccessible to more and more people so yeah only a minority that’s at the top will get to enjoy it as the prices keep going up.
>It's not an elitist thing. It's a /toy/ is fucking poor thing.
If it’s inaccessible to most people then it becomes an elitist thing no? You already have an elitist mindset as well looking down on others and calling them poor which shows it clearly isn’t a hobby that just anyone can get into and sustain.
>>
>>11879303
The implication is that most of these people aren't living pay check to pay check. The people that are really shouldn't be spending money on frivolous things like collectibles. Sorry if that hurts your fee fees but it's the truth. If you are struggling for money and are living paycheck to paycheck you should not be buying toys. Simple as.

>If it’s inaccessible to most people then it becomes an elitist thing no?
It's not though. Again, most people that have actual hobbies spend far more than this. I sling like $100 worth of ammo down range every time I go shooting.

>You already have an elitist mindset as well looking down on others and calling them poor which shows it clearly isn’t a hobby that just anyone can get into and sustain.
Sorry, I don't have much sympathy for someone who's scrounging to live pay check to pay check and blowing on frivolous bullshit that you don't need. If you're living paycheck to paycheck, that's survival mode buddy. You buy what you need to fucking survive and that's it. Save whatever you aren't spending, and try to find a way to get out of the situation where you are living paycheck to paycheck.

I haven't lived like that since I was literally a teenager just starting college. But I lived like that until I had a big boy job, could afford all my bills, and eventually afford to spend money on bullshit like toys. I know the job market is trash right now, but in the same breath, you shouldn't be spending frivolously if you can't afford it. And it's weird how you make it sound like you NEED to collect toys, you don't, you'll exist just fine without having to get the newest little plastic army man.
>>
>>11878642
i come to toys to fill in that incomplete feeling in my life and the current state makes me feel even more incomplete and depressed

the new stuff is inferior, poorly distributed and overpriced because an established license went to some cheapskate corporate company and the good old stuff is overpriced because of enthusiasts making videos and drawing in unwitting bystander speculators that create all new peaks and valleys, so what used to be an obscure, cheap, fun, unimportant niche thing is like climbing a mountain and you can only buy from big ebay resellers, with everything pieced out, priced at top dollar, you can't get a good lot.from a regular person anymore, it's done for the foreseeable future, I'm like grandpa simpson, I walk in and walk out immediately

for the life of me, I can't figure out who's still paying for this shit, like Mondo figures and the like
>>
>>11878697
Yep. Actual richfags understand this and the ones that stay that way tend be frugal. Poor people stay poor by living like they're rich and rich people stay rich by living like they're poor.
>>
>>11879309
https://www.marketwatch.com/financial-guides/investing/paycheck-to-paycheck-statistics/
Not him but a majority of Americans reported living paycheck to paycheck in 2025. And I doubt its any better in 2026. So it is indeed the norm. You even see some toytubers talk about not being able to afford every figure they want to buy this month sometimes. Whether they should be buying toys or not, they are.
>>
>>11879428
The collectors in the top 30% of earners who are not affected by economic valleys are the ones buying things like mondo figures or high end statues.
>>
>>11879466
And those people shouldn't be buying toys. Them doing so is what keeps them living paycheck to paycheck.
>>
>>11879309
Okay so if the price of ammo jumped 2x, you'd complain, right?

I think you're missing the fundamental argument people are trying to make here.
>>
>>11879473
The price of ammo is a lot more variable than toys Anon. Even if ammo doubles in price today I still wouldn't be paying as much as I did around the time of Sandy Hook.

Do they make the figures out of wood?
