Anyone else a broke as fuck toy "collector" living out of a tiny studio apartment, watching YouTube videos of all the toys you wish you had and fantasizing about the day you win the lottery and can actually have them all for yourself, while you watch them all get gradually more rare and expensive?
>>
Nah. I just make my own out of paper.

I live the same as you. I'm high in toy debt that I had to do debt relief and im still buying toys I dont need. But the more I collected, the more i realize i was buying on rarity impulse and that they weren't worth it in the first place. Don't make my mistake

Not broke but I could be traveling.
But I would be traveling by myself, mostly. I could go have a great steak oo lobster dinner once a week but again I would do it by myself or I would be stuck with people I know who can also afford it but are ass-wipes whom I don't really like.
I could see more 4DX, 3D, IMAX movies but I see plenty of those by myself. Going to more again means going with scum in my 'acquaintence circle' with cash.

My main issue is space. You really need a lot of room for a sizeable collection, especially some of the larger item e.g. transformers titan class figs.

I live with my parents with zero expenses/bills and spend like $300-500 a month on toys. If I moved out I don’t think I could do it on my salary. Even now I feel bad I’m not saving as much as I could be. I wish these things didn’t have to be so expensive.

It's most annoying when people buy stuff just so they can tell you how much they hate it. That's a damn waste.
>>
>>11885861
No. I own a house and buy all the toys I want. But I can see that you and your kind are the ones actively ruining this board with your hoo hah whining.

I've got the opposite problem. Been collecting 17 years and have just shy of 500 figures on display in two rooms of my house, but my enthusiasm for the hobby's been winding down a lot in recent years with dozens of unopened figures. Despite that, I still buy figures out of FOMO and have even been buying a few OCs from Snail Shell and Lado Toys lately which just get added to the pile that needs to be opened. Logically, I know I'd be better off investing more or using the money for something else, but I look at toy sites almost daily so it's a difficult habit to break. Probably going to downsize significantly in the next few years.

Keep at it and enjoy what you can for now. I grew up in a broke household, but my parents tried with games and the occasional lego or cheap toys. Now as a grown man I do buy what I couldn't for nephew's or mainly myself. It's fun returning to old hobbies and passtimes as an adult with spending money. I just wish some of these things were priced the same or close to how they were. Toy's and legos for the exclusive "adult" market is honestly sad

It hurts, but at least if you ever plan on selling you can recoup a bit. It hurt me to sell my old games and even modernish ps4-5 collection but I'm using that money to indulge in other hobbies nowm

What makes it harder is I am a multi-interest collector. I collect vintage O-ring GI Joe AND Classified AND G1 Transformers AND 90s Mcfarlane AND vintage 1990s/early 00s Final Fantasy toys/merch AND PS1 and PS2 games AND various 80s lines like Select Convertors, MASK, Starriors, Wheeled Warriors, etc AND vintage Star Wars.

Amassing a collection from any given series is very slow. My only consolation is Classified becoming so expensive that it's "vintage toy" prices now, and I'd rather use that same money on something that's 4 decades old.

>brags about his wealth and bullies the less fortunate
You should realize no one is on your side

don't think of this as a /toy/ board but a dark cliff, over an abyss, where strangers can meet to scream across to one another about the insanity of being adult virgins on the spectrum
>>

You little faggots gripe about like $4 half the time. I'm actually sick of it. I can't discuss any toy line without some jealous little cuck who can't even afford whatever line I'm trying to discuss without them getting all mad and uppity over the fact that I collect it. I'm not bragging about being middle class, and I'm not looking down at you for being poor, I'm looking down at you for being a whiney little faggot. If you can't afford this hobby, then find another. Toy collecting isn't even that expensive compared to other hobbies.

1,000,000,000%. I presented this to the board as the “fanboy” phenomenon.

I've been trying to make Japan a yearly thing. Been twice to Tokyo because it's just so damn lovely and affordable. Trying to do other countries too, outside of layovers
>>
>>11885972
It's also most annoying when people buy stuff just so they can tell you how much they like a bad toy. That's a damn waste that they only like it because they don't have a choice. I bought 200x Ram Man, and for some reason his shoulder armor isnt attached. That's just the stupidest thing ever

You know those are designed to come apart and to mix and match. It should literally just clip pack on?

Before Todd raised his figure prices from 19.99 he cared about the poor

If I had 400m usd I'd buy a 18 year old cosplayer girlfriend(or 3) and dump them when they turn 19. Would still watch anime and collect toys.

that seems depressing bruh wtf, just choose another cheaper hobby. build $1000 pc and you can have countless hours playing vidya
>>
why do so many people on this website blog about their problems? Lol go outside
>>
>>11885861
You make this sound bad, but it may be the healthiest way to approach this hobby, no financial hit and no hoarding risk.

>living out of a tiny studio apartment
Yes. Not broke though.
Hey at least you're buying assets you can sell.
