What the hell happened to this company? Feels like all they've been doing for the past few years is drip-feeding Halo Reach spartans.

I wish they kept their Izmojuki series going, but like 50% smaller

The last two Samurai Troopers releases not having matching brown and purple armor for their hands is dumb. They are shown both ways in art. Almost ruins the whole line for me.
>>
They got assmad when someone stole their prototype figures from a con and took their ball and went home.

I wish I was joking.

getting prototypes stolen is pretty bad, because prototypes are sometimes the only thing that exists for the product to be made.
Not everything is digitally made or 3d printed.

pic are some Phantasy Star Online figures that got stolen at e3 and completely killed the line, because they were hand made prototypes. SEGA begged for them back, no questions asked.

No... god, no... what we lost...

Bullshit. No company should ever have a single prototype for something, and they really shouldn't then bring that single prototype across the country/world to a massive show where you won't have eyes on it all the time, and anything can happen to it both in the transportation and at the show itself.

Modern design tools mean that a prototype should have dozens of iterations and samples, it should also have 3D files. By the time something shows up to the public I'd expect a ton of prototypes on existence and even if all of them were stolen or destroyed the building blocks to make more are still in existence. At most you might lose the most recent update, some tiny change, or the first physical painted proto etc, something that means virtually nothing cost wise when compared to the total costs of manufacturing.

There could be any number of reasons why the toys didn't come out- usually lack of money, lack of interest, rights issues, internal conflict at the company, but a proto model that's already written off as a show floor ad ain't it.

If a company is somehow dumb enough to only have one, and loses all their backup files, and then takes that one single proto somewhere and then allows that to be stolen, they fucking deserve to not be in business.

I wish one of those random Chinese companies like Earnestcore Craft took this over his designs are too good

They were a somewhat independent subdivision of Sentinel.
Were focused on making articulated figures in collaboration with artists. Just look at their line-up. Though Tsutomu Nihei was their main artist here, Synths and his other creations were selling like hot cakes. Still wish we got Killy and Safeguard reissued.

Thus, 1000toys got some real hype and recognition for their top figures. And after that Sentinel started aggressively pushing their bullshit engineers, sculptors, franchises and ideas. The OG team with their leader Yuta Tobari left and later created Tokyo East Side Toys.
While 1000toys is just a semi-dead carcas under the rule of the clique of "efficient" managers from Sentinel.
Btw, Sentinel pushed some shit made by their arse-handed employees. And these shitty figures are a mess. For example, Re-Edit CE Chief is atrocious. His joints crack on their own, these pieces of overcompicated engineering, that have probably zero material resistance or engineering put into. And Reach figures are a separate kind of crap.

So yeah, support T.E.S.T. with your money, if you want to get the 1000toys quality stuff. Since the main crew is residing there, not in the basement of Sentinel.

from MFC
>1000toys was an offshoot from sentinel and had an overlap in staff, they were able to use sentinel factories. It was meant to be a company that worked with Japanese artists; Tsutomu Nihei, Kim Jung Gi, Izumo Jyuki etc. but they ended up doing more and more licensed stuff.
>The guy who started 1000toys left to start T.E.S.T, which is continuing some projects started under 1000toys (female synth, Zoichi) and new ones (Abara).

it was their dmc figures during designer con in Anaheim, they had wanted posters shopped and printed the very next day. it honestly looked like it was staged. The lights at the convention notoriously go out there every year and someone always gets robbed, some oceans 11 bs being pulled by the teamsters union or something. It is one of the many reasons dcon is no longer being held there.

Anon, that was 2002....look at the Gamecube. those were the days of analog toy sculpting, it's very likely the single prototype was all they had, especially on a time crunch.
Kiefer Sutherland had a story around this time mentioned receiving a prototype for a 24 Jack Bauer figure that he drunkenly destroyed with some friends, only for the toy company to ask for it back after he was finished reviewing it. It ended up being the only prototype and delayed the line.

Actually Kiefer and his drunk ass friends throw his figure in fire during a BBQ party.
>>
Is the current re:EDIT Chief just a re colored copy of the old one, or did they fix the quality control issues?
