Have any of you guys tried using papercraft dioramas? Seems like a cheap and easy way to add tons of personality to display shelves Pic taken from here https://papermau.blogspot.com/2026/08/harbor-gate-depot-papercraft-diorama-in_0520700714.html
>>11904939People already do this when they re-use the inserts that come in their packages as quick and cheap/easy backgrounds to take some quick snapshots, or use the desktop of their computer as the backdrop to take desktop toy photography snaps. Some of the issues with papercraft are that they don't always work like the one example you used - these are all free and these are the most downloaded, most of them not really suitable the way your example is.
>>11904939Extreme sets do some cool stuff in cardboard, though they're expensive (and imo the scale is a little more like 1:10).I have one and I do like it, though I think next time I'd just make my own for cheaper. You can do so much with AI now, it's not that hard to design your own now.Finding a local printer who does cheap online printing is the best thing you can do as well, I have some backgrounds and floor panels I ordered that look good. Ideally something matte.
>>11906537Do you mind sharing how you make them on your own?
>>11906760Well it depends what you want to do, the first thing is to find a cheap online print company. They will have different kinds of specifications, but for example might offer a 20x30 inch print. And very likely they'll accept files of 300 PPI (pixels per inch) files. So with that, I go into paint.net and create a canvas of that pixel size (i.e. 6000 x 9000).In terms of images, now the issue is you need good quality ones. This is where imgupscaler.com comes in. It's free and works well, the only issue is it will introduce artifacts depending on how much upscaling it has to do.Another typical photography approach is picrel, where you have a single image that blends from the background to the floor, and the smoothness of the curve hides that. Not the best example because they're really close to the background (I was abusing a background print), but you get the idea.Someday if I find the time I'd like to actually create a website where you can buy packs of these for a few bucks.
https :// mega.nz/folder/0QdWXKgB#5u5EagBjULvwT05iaF-6BAHey, here the link to my collection of papercraft for action figure, like a lot of arcade cabinet I found over the years, backdrop and the ground for it, yugioh card I made ready to be printed, manga...
>>11909533thanks i guesswish those were better labeledthe first download I tested for possible virus or bad files was the paper-replika passworded one and that was just a waste of time, since it's now dioramas much less anything that interests me
>>11906760>>11907194If you have a FedEx Office and a good original file, you can avoid the 'cheap' online or local print company. For starters, you would save on shipping fees. FedEx Office will outprint on color printers (typically a color photocopier, but if you find a genuine old Kinko's location and they have the desktop setups, you might find a higher grade desktop printer option). A high grade TIFF or similar file can be accepted (just call them ahead first) and they will output to 11x17 which should be more than large enough for a background.
>>11904939I use this for my slot car bodies but it's foam. Plenty of HO or 1/64 scale guys use papercraft to great effect.
>>11910650you mean foam core.but there's no reason someone can't apply/glue or otherwise combine a paper sheet with card stock, foam core or anything else
I really want to get the extreme sets mansion because it's kinda low res and feels like a house of the dead thing but it's really expensive and there's very few good 1/12 zombies besides figma flyboy
>>11913388There are those skeleton warriors, that you can use as regular skeletons or other monster/horror characters. As far as the set, it's just paper and good imagery. Or cardstock and sticker paper, etc.
>>11904939I'd like to go at least foam, but it's essentially int he papercraft realm. I have a 1/32 slot car addiction so now that I have a track I need scenery.
>>11910925Price is a thing. I'm so on the fence between a lot of easy to buy papercraft or foam, and breaking down and getting a printer. I've had one and it was awful though (bullshit cheap machine).
>>11910053What are you on anon? There is dozens of backdrop on this link
>>11916249works fine for me
>>11916398Hey, I ripped canon creative park and included 18 new set like pic
>>11914978Yeah I'm getting closer to making my own diorama box and putting some good materials in it like little carpet. Just sucks about zombos because you'd think between walking dead and resident evil we would have ended up with a few decent generic zombie toys getting made that work for this purpose
>>11906537I really want to get their Transformers ones but I'm hesitant to pay that much for a cardboard backdrop.
