ITT: Spawn toys
>>11905353yes they are. when will todd take spawn seriously? everything spawn sucks lately. from the comics to the toys. I know todd hates articulation but there are basic engineering problems with his figures, blatant reuse aside. I fully expect a chase variant of the llanzo one, with a proper head that resembles the og art. also please, PLEASE let vox have that new body mold. something tells me he won't.

We will never know why Mcfarlane has a hatred of matching shoes
I just want a good articulated classic spawn without the mismatching disco boots and gauntlets, and without that stupid skull thong. Is that really so much to ask for?
>>11905664where did this get shown?
>>11905664SWOLN
Even though 2027 is going to be the 30th anniversary of the HBO cartoon, I'm not expecting McFarlane Toys to do much to commemorate the occasion. Maybe >>11905664 is right about how Todd treats his own IP.
>>11905664>todd hates articulationReally? Why?
>>11907794He's always been bigger on detail, paint, and sculpt than articulation. Even in the late 90's/early 2000s, his toylines slowly transitioned from being articulated figures to highly detailed statues or staction figures with some novelty articulation. His modern figures not only have kinda shit articulation, but aren't even very well painted or detailed anymore.
>>11907794lets be real all comic book fans hate articulation its why so many prefer statues and actually buying comic books over toys, even super powers makes comic book fans wet because its 5poa like a classic star wars nostalgia
Any chance mcfarlane plays well with Marvel and they let him do an Angela figure?
Has there been a gorilla version of Spawn? an elephant Spawn would also be cool
The tragedy of spawn is that Todd won't let a good toy company make him.
>>11905664"pending licensor approval"What. kek. What kind of nonsense is Todd's own company needing to get licensor approval on Spawn designs? And there is no chase variant, the Curse of the Spawn figure has been out forever. At most there would be a second release that is closer to what people want, like they did with Nightmare Spawn. The Nightmare Spawn from the op pic has its flaws but it can do The Pose of the original statue and it isn't unobtainable like the statue. I think we need to accept toys will never look like >>11905788 again barring some over 100 dollar inart figure. There's just no market for it in domestics. Domestic consumers are happy eating up the lowest garbage with almost no paint or at best basic washes and dry brushes.>>11908092*Unsolicited opinions on McFarlane Toys*>>11914263McFarlane Toys used to be a good company
>>11914612>McFarlane Toys used to be a good companyYeah, back in the day where you could only have amazing detail or decent articulation and had to pick a lane.Nowadays you can have both. Current McF chooses neither.
>>11914621>>11914621>Yeah, back in the day where you could only have amazing detail or decent articulation and had to pick a lane. What put McFarlane on the map to begin with was that he WAS able to do both.Go look at what else was coming out in the 90's at like Kenner and Playmates and stuff. The sculpt and detail were there, but they were 5PoA. Now go look at the first 10 or so waves of the Spawn line. They had even more paint, sculpt, and detail, and way more articulation. They were better than every other action figure in every regard, and cost the same amount of money. The problem is that he always valued the sculpt/paint/detail more than articulation, he started to phase articulation out in favor of more detail. Unfortunately for him, this was great in the late 90s, but by the 2000s most toy makers were moving on by offering continual improvements and upgrades to articulation, but he was always an eccentric, stuck in his ways and refused to modernize whereas others moved on.So, the very thing that catapulted him to the forefront of the industry ended up being the thing that quickly put him in the dust.
>>11914621Did you even look at the image I posted in that post? That is premium articulation for 2002 and better than most domestics today.
Why does modern paint have this 'soft', low detail, and 'fake' quality that makes it appear it was all applied by a machine (which doesn't seem feasible even with toy's tech to paint the whole figure by machine), rather than 00s paint which looked like it was applied by a real human?
>>11914630*today's tech
>>11914630i think it's mostly because they take less time to paint each figure today than they used to.It's more mechanical, as in they're counting each stroke versus "the entire part of this molded pieces needs to be in this color before the next color is applied." Painters used to be paid per color/piece.And machine processes are always worse than human applications. Stuff like clothes used to be more durable when sewn by hand, whereas clothes made by machines needs to be simplified in order for the machine to do it.Same thing applies to most mechanical processes. The only thing that mechanical processes can do better is that it's faster and consistent.
>>11914628>and better than most domestics today.>all he's doing is standing with his legs splayed apart>waist swivel>single arms>swivel shouldersCome on buddy, It's pretty impressive for being over a decade old but it's not competing with Hasbro or Jada. Probably beats current ToddSlop though and I have no idea about Mattel.
>>11913848No, but he has a gorilla villain named Cy-Gore.
>>11914777>>all he's doing is standing with his legs splayed apartBy this metric, McFarlane Toys' Necrons are the greatest action figures ever made just due to the lack of design impedance. You don't need contortionist poses for a figure to have well done articulation.
Malebolgia is one of the most important characters in all of Spawn’s lore, yet he hasn’t gotten a new toy since Wave 23 back in 2003. What gives?
>>11915043They ARE pretty cool
>>11916289All Spawn megafigs have peg warmed. Some extremely. Even the Violator which I was able to get for 30 bucks, down from 50. So the Spawn megafigs have dried up. And now that Todd is part of the system, economic times are much rougher than the 90s, and McFarlane Toys has a co-owner, he can no longer just by decree put a giant figure in a normal sized box and charge normal price like he did for the original 90s release of Malebolgia. His profit margins have to make sense. Malebolgia tooling is hard to reuse, so that would also be a problem. If Malebolgia does come out as a megafig, expect some reuse from wave 1 buff Violator (which would probably look terrible for Malebolgia) and the quantities to be very limited.
I thought the newer release of medieval spawn was pretty cool.
>>11905353Does this guy count? Found him in a garage sale for $5
>>11916578The colors are blatantly inaccurate to the comics. And just as bad, the gauntlets and boot is soft plastic so fixing it by painting it risks long term cracking.
>>11916601Yes, that's incomplete but it's kind of a steal for 5 bucks, although it really seems like something weird has happened to the wash since it looks far more uneven than usual.
>>11916646you risk long term dying quit being a fucking baby
>>11916648What is it missing?
>>11917976The diorama base.
>>11918352They never did come with a base in the boxhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfafHhdKacg
>>11918979Weird, there's another figure of Spawn that looks extremely similar posed with his leg up that is on a pile of skulls on a base. This one is slightly different.
>>11919433There was a 6" and an 8" of this same sculpt and there was the 30th anniversary ones redone of each of those. Those smaller version came with various bases (just plain black plastic). The one I have is the 12" which never came with a base. I did find this one online which is the same figure that I have but they customized it and added the base to.
New Spawn nothingburgers were announced at NYCC. The Diablo Spawn one would be OK if it was 30 but for 50-60 "elite" edition pricing, I ain't touchin' it.
>>11920810This is "the art" as Todd would say. But is art worth $50?
>>11920810I only want the sword kek
>>11920950>>11921080Just wait for the potential Fortnite collab, and the toy meant to tie-in with it.
>>11920810>>11921080It didn't sell out on even Amazon and they have been understocking Todd releases for awhile. I'd say wait on this one for the deep discount bin if you want it, it will probably drop in price.
>>11920950$70 for the autographed version.
