I saw this video, and wanted to ask the question, Is Power Rangers dead yet?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qR_RTgw7Cg
>>
According to Playmates its basically keeping their lights on. So I'd say no.

Also thats the old Dragonzord model.
>>
Toy wise? No, media? Yes.
Toys will die too if they don’t step out of the comfort zone and do zords and rangers that haven’t had a modern update.
>>
>>11912475
Toys of the Zeo Rangers are next year, then Dino Thunder and Wild Force some time later. No word on Zords yet.

Speaking of, Playmates posted the new toy model today. No more snout hole. Also the hands don't shoot anymore and slide into the chest like they should.

I just realized, we didn't get a miniature White Ranger with the Firebird.
>>
>>11912470
>According to Playmates its basically keeping their lights on.
That's called a lie, sweetie
>>
>>11912572
Not according to their last financial report.

And no, you're not allowed to lie on those things. You get in trouble for that.
>>
>>11912465
Power Rangers died so hard it took Sentai with it.
>>
>>11912482
I kinda like this change, technically less showaccurate now but I never really liked the arms folding in.
The missile idea was bizarre but on par for how Playmates does this considering they made the tops of the Triceratops/Sabertooth tiger weapons into missiles.
>>
>>11912482
>Also the hands don't shoot anymore and slide into the chest like they should.
They're not supposed to work like that though.

>>11912584
>I never really liked the arms folding in.
Why? There's nothing negative about them working that way. Why would you rather have a Dragonzord with no arms than the actual correct mechanism?

All in all this toy is way less shit than before but it's still pretty terrible when compared to pretty much any previously released Dragonzord.
>>
>>11912577
Oh you're so adorably naive.
>>
>>11912482
Fucking lol. lmao. Fools and their money.

Thank goodness we have random anonymous poster on a Chinese basketeweaving forum, who has the REAL inside scoop, which was revealed to him in a dream.
>>
>>11912601
Or at least whatever conspiratorial bullshit he thinks is real.
>>
so what did you think about the video
>>
>>11913002
I think niche fans of the franchise need to realize MMPR is Power Rangers for 90% of people and all attempts to move away from it fail miserably and that's the reason why companies are so quick to crawl back to it. Playmates MMPR stuff is selling okay, but I promise you the upcoming figures of newer seasons will not go far. The franchise needs a full on proper MMPR reboot if it wants to survive it is the only thing the majority of actual people care about.
>>
Power Rangers only ever got popular in the first place because Jurassic Park was WHITE hot in mid 1993 and every kid in America wanted more dinos.
>>
>>11912482
>>11912584
What was wrong with the arms folding in?

>>11913002
Who cares about the video? It's another doomsaying clickbait that doesn't actually say anything that isn't readily obvious or meaningful.
>>
>>11913176
I've always disagreed with this. Power Rangers still would have been popular had they used Jetman or even if they waited and used Dairanger. It was popular because there was nothing like it on TV at the time. It was a live action superhero show for kids with really intense action sequences. The show decreased in popularity as it was forced to sanitize itself.

did op make the video?

I just never liked how crunchy it felt on the original and it lead to the hollow hands. The Legacy one also felt like a tight fit as well. I did like how smooth it was on the chogokin at least, the first time I liked that bit of engineering.
In general I just like telescoping/sliding transforming mechanisms though.

>>11913116
Disney era fans especially need to grasp that Disney fucked up the marketing so hard that those seasons after Ninja Storm have some of the worst viewership in the franchise. There's simply less people to have watched it and be nostalgic for those seasons to make them worth selling.
MMPR will always be top dog, but if any other seasons have a chance at selling decently it'll be maybe Zeo, In Space, and Time Force. And even those are a stretch. No one is going to buy Jungle Fury or Operation Overdrive figures the same way they do MMPR.
>>
>>11913427
Hopefully the franchise dies for good after this
>>
>>11913428
The franchise is more relevant and has a wider audience than He-man, which should be dead but Mattel won't let it die. Almost no kids have cared about He-man in 50 years but at least Power rangers was last successful like 12 years ago for dino Charge.
>>
>>11913431
Why can't the fans make a good fan show?
>>
>>11913431
As a teacher I can say kids still very much love Power Rangers, and they recognize the original team pretty easily, but clearly the franchise has no idea how to actually tap into that. Meanwhile even after a movie He-Man books I got for my classroom were pretty much unrecognized. No one in power has any idea how to actually market the franchise because they don't understand the appeal of the franchise. The cheesy tokusatsu elements are what make it fresh and unique for kids who are used to American sensibilities but they keep trying to wash them away.
>>
>>11913464
obviously children are retarded because their parents are retarded and watch tiktok all day
>>
>>11913427
Except when Hasbro tried to go all-in on In Space with the Lightning Collection those figures shelf warmed. It isn't as popular outside of fan circles as people think it is. Power Rangers is also really hindered by its team-based set up. People will buy a random Transformer because there are two factions. Any given evil robot or good robot can co-exist among everyone else short of a few teamguys. People are less willing to do this with Power Rangers becuase they have to consider "Well if I buy SPD Green I'll have to buy the other 6(+) SPD Rangers to finish the team."
>>
>>11913431
It’s funny, after the movie sales of He-man toys tripled. Makes me wonder if it was just collectors.
>>
>>11913468
i just think the individual aren't well-defined enough for people to care. Like why would someone buy In Space Blue Ranger if he sees him on a shelf? A rando isn't going to know his deal. Transformers, Ninja Turtles, they're more defined characters.
>>
>>11913496
>they're more defined characters
they have a dozen reboots and different styles theres nothing definite about them as the corpos keep rebooting them
>>
>>11913505
But those versions are well defined individuals. Animated Prime and G1 86 Prime can co-exist on shelves as self-defined characters. Other reboots are just retreading the same beats for new audiences too like with the Turtles.

Most Power Rangers/Sentai heroes are not as fleshed out. They relay on a archetypes to establish their characters throughout multiple iterations which makes each feel weaker. Like the tough black guy, the goofy green guy, the tomboy yellow, cool/smart blue, stoic red with a few stock swap-ins. This works great on screen but it makes it harder to connect with characters as individuals.
>>
>>11913537
> great on screen but it makes it harder to connect with characters as individuals.
power rangers is a commercial to sell toys first and foremost
>>
>>11913551
Yeah in the moment and to kids. We're talking about long-term collector lines. The characters aren't individualized enough to drive those sales.
>>
>>11913658
and kamen rider does is which is why it lasted for so long, it can change the formula and be anything. thats the problem, you need one character to continually be retold when Japan has no issue creating new bullshit out the wazoo thats just a spin off or a bootleg of an original idea and people eat it up regardless. yet for some delusional reason people think power rangers can be a legacy icon when its just a 90s fad that fans cant let go of, which is why that white dragon movie was shit and completely mis understands why power rangers sold so well in the first place. at least the 2016 movie had a robot fight as shit as that was. a movie about a white draogn cant have a dragon fight in it?
>>
>>11912580
What fishtank season is this
>>
>>11913712
fish tank? isn't jet neptune a groomer? and that asian killed herself because he raped her? major yikes my dude. really speaks volumes if your kind are what the average power ranger fan is in to
