Bottleneck Gallery has announced a new wave of their Scott Pilgrim figures>Most articulated figures of Scott and Ramona yet (seriously, why has no Scott Pilgrim figure had poseable legs before this?)>First time Scott Pilgrim has ever had "sidekick figures" (Robot 01 for Scott, Cat Gideon for Ramona)>First evil exe figure (Matthew Patel when he played Scott in "Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Musical" from the series finale of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off)Matthew Patel has already sold out, but overall these look pretty good. Scott looks a little walleyed, maybe.
>>11918516Oh, and 1:12 scale in case you care.
>>11918516>jeet Scott The fuck
>>11918527So basically, in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, when it looked like Matthew Patel killed Scott (he didn't, Scott was actually kidnapped), he challenged Gideon, beat him, and took his fortune. He used it to larp his dream of being an actor and starred in a musical based on Scott's life.In the end, he gave Gideon his fortune back because he cared more about being an actor than being a bad guy.Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is basically Scott Pilgrim: Pacifist Route.
>>11918540Yeah I watch it. Fucking gay. It was nothing but an apology piece by the writer for making something that was too based 15 years ago. Ironically at the time it was just considered hipster edgy. In the 2020’s Scott is a child rapist and master manipulator that has toxic masculinity
>>11918527>>11918540It's kind of a ripoff. I would want a figure of an evil exe as themselves, not cosplaying Scott.>>11918552It actually kinda annoys me when people nowadays treat Scott Pilgrim as some sort of irredeemable piece of garbage because Scott dated Knives.Like, they KNOW the entire point is Scott is sketchy as hell for using someone to soothe his wounded ego after a bad breakup, right? Like, he's not treated as some gigachad by the narrative, he's a selfish shithead. The entire story is him realizing what a shithead he's been and growing to be better.>apology pieceHonestly, I think the show treats Scott better than the original comics do. We see Scott through Ramona's eyes, and we get to see him as this upbeat, charming, confident, and charismatic guy that thinks love is worth fighting for. The show is mostly about Ramona realizing how she sabotaged all her relationships and how she's a shitty person who needs to change.Even if Old Scott is ostensibly the "bad guy", he only went crazy because Ramona, his estranged wife, would rather construct a crazy time travel plot than just talk to her husband, and was willing to abandon him when it blew up in her face.Present Ramona being disgusted by Future Ramona was the wake up call she needed.
>No Wallace Wells in the first waveNO BUY
>>11919011It's actually kinda weird, they've done Scott, Ramona, Nega Scott, Nega Ramona (who isn't a real character), Stephen Stills, Kim Pine, and Knives, but not Wallace yet.
was this shit ever popular
>>11919038Popular enough to get toys that sell out, apparently
>>11918573the only real criticisms of SP I've seen center around Ramona being a bitch whore but you should just ignore her past and date her anyway. That's the bad message of the series. That's why it sucks. Take the blown out danger hair colored E-Girl, there's nothing actually wrong with her (you're stupid)
>>11919055Yeah, and that's why Takes Off focuses on Ramona realizing she kinda sucks and sabotaged most of her relationships.
>>11918516>awful figures>Limited>by an art gallery
>>11919055by the end it's very clear that the story is about how they're both awful shitty people that need to grow the fuck up, I think the main reason people dislike it compared to other series with protagonists that start out like that is that it's about the journey of them realizing their issues and not about showing the process of them actually fixing them.
>>11919163I think you nailed it. The story is BLOM deconstructing the sort of fantasy you'd see in like Megatokyo but it ends when they realize they're the problem and not after they've put in the work to improve.
