This will be my first and last Rewind, so you're obviously doing something wrong OP. Cope and seethe about it.

Tooner means toy that never existed in the cartoon now, i guess. It truly is a magic word that means everything and nothing.

Why's OP always gotta be so pessimistic?
The only thing he opens threads with is how he thinks everything is a scam

Blaster came with Eject and that's enough for me. Steeljaw was more than enough but the speaker was kinda cool. I have no inclination to buy Rewind or 5 randos with him.

Decepticons need TWO god damn two packs of cassettes

One for the core six, as outside Laserbeak and Ravage? Rumble, Frenzy, Ratbat, and Buzzsaw are straight up impossible to find, have been subjected to obscenely shitty distribution issues, and in the case of Buzzsaw, only available with a long of of stock Soundwave no one bought due to no one wanting to quadruple dip on the Netflix mold.

Then a second one to finally get us Slugfest, Overkill, Squawktalk and Beast Box, plus Enemy and Flipside or some new OC cassettes.

But the first box set HAS to be the core six as we've desperately fucking needed the means to get all of them in one fell swoop.
>>
>>11919313
I mean, I'm curious what's going to happen with Generations come 2028
Sure the price will be another 20% higher by then but it's the dumping ground for fossilizers and Timelines type of ideas then I'd like to see it

trips
Buzzsaw comes with 86 Soundwave and is a little easier to find now, so he's probably out. Likewise, I wouldn't expect Ratbat either based on Ramhorn not being in the Autobot pack. Maybe a recolor like Wingthing, based on the pattern.
But my guess is Rumble, Frenzy, Garboil, Howlback and either Overkill and Slugfest, OR Beastbox and Squawktalk, but not both pairs. I wouldn't expect 4 new molds in one set.
...unless they just make the Squawktalk the Laserbeak/Buzzsaw mold...
>>
Was Legacy Leader Soundwave into 86 Leader Soundwave one of the biggest scams in the franchise? Casette fans should be used to it
>>
>>11919333
>>11919354
Keep in mind that Marvel Soundwave is coming out next year, and there's a 100% chance they do Soundblaster at some point. That ought to be 6 more cassettes, though I'd assume double dipping will cut into it some.

All the guns are stuck with the rest of the Jem packs new accesories. They would need to either reuse the design and tackle it on something else, or waste all the extra parts they aren't including.

>>
>>11919247
Who are these glup shittos.
>>
>>11919489
My problem with a lot of the Studio Series Movie guys is that while they are upgrades of the Earthrise versions, it's not enough of a change to justify getting the same guy in the same class all over again. I have a few of them, including Soundwave and can't help feeling like I got ripped.
and I don't know what the hell they were doing with Laserbeak/Buzzsaw which is just worse for no reason.
>>
>>11919490
Not another Haslab Optimus...
>>
>>11919494
Half of them aren't even Glup Shittos, they're straight up OCs
>>
>>11919498
Laserbea/Buzzsaw and Ravage suffered in a few areas due to budget. Unlike the previous Soundwave, these were all new molds they had to include with Soundwave, and Soundwave himself received a number of improvements that put him above a regular voyager, so now the cassettes had to use whatever was left, with Ravage getting the lions share of the upgrades while the birds got screwed over.

>>
>>11919574
no it's not.
The only thing that's accuratte is the guns.
The wings are totally off, and they blocked the front of the neck for some bizarre reason.

All they had to do was reuse the seige engineering for a new mold and add the guns to that.
>>
>>11919515
I get that. But there was nothing wrong with the engineering on the seige version. They rebuilt him from the ground up for no good reason and hampered his articulation and put gaps in in cassette mode
>>
>>11919576
I can only assume it was either a parts count issue or someone wanted to "innovate" with a new take. But yeah, I don't like the 86 bird mold, it sucks in every way that matters.

>>11919578
I take back the parts counts bit, because despite appearances, 86 has more, and that's before we count the accesories.

I imagine once or twice a year they have a discussion about how to do it. "More articulation? Completely new figure? Will people even buy this? Should we make the limbs transform to be more appealing?" And that's why it hasn't happened yet.
>>
Should I get the Takara Jetfire to avoid yellowing? Or is it also fucked?
>>
And don't forget. Because the body of the 86 Condor mold is fully painted (for Laserbeak and Buzzsaw), you can't even put them into Soundwave since the paint is so thick, I'll rub off on the tape door and potentially stain it, and good luck removing that without fucking up something else.

Yellowing is a result of a chemical reaction the plastic has to light and sometimes its just a result of sweating while placed in storage. All white plastic yellows eventually some just do it quicker. Takara's release isn't using a different plastic.

I think its safe to say we'll get Rumble and Frenzy but they're going to be cute about it and swap the names so Rumble will be red and Frenzy will be blue. Both go for a lot on the aftermarket and there isn't another way to reissue them for people that bought the recent SS86 Soundwave. Slugfest and Overkill make sense for the new molds. I would like Flipsides from the new Bolts mold but I think Howlback and Garboil are most likely. I would hate SG Ravage but I think that's a likely candidate too. It'd be such a wasted spot.

>>
>>11919638
>they're going to be cute about it and swap the names so Rumble will be red and Frenzy will be blue
Based on the autism I've seen on display from some fans, there are definitely people out there who prefer the comic/toy colors but who couldn't just use the red one as Rumble and the blue one as Frenzy without "permission" since the 86 versions explicitly call them Rumble (blue) and Frenzy (red). So these people (sadly) will 100% double dip and thank Hasbro for the privilege.
>I would hate SG Ravage but I think that's a likely candidate too. It'd be such a wasted spot.
It's a nice color scheme, but it's also Glit in all but name. So again...yeah, I could definitely see them doing that lol.
>>
>>11919648
>couldn't just use the red one as Rumble and the blue one as Frenzy without "permission"

>>11919607
I despise them simply because they are partly the reason for Energon (2004) continued bad reputation. Sure the anime is disappointing with a lot of potential never met and executed poorly but the character and toy designs are fucking solid, a big leap over the Armada toys but still held back by the time that they deserve remakes. And we're just not getting them because whoever is up at Hasbro or in the designer team just look at how negatively received the anime is on TFWiki and don't even give a second thought at making new toys from it.

>>
>>11919662
No we don't get more Energon because it underperformed compared to Armada and Cybertron back during release. Hasbro tried to ride the building success of RiD01 (Which was a surprise smash hit despite being a fillerline and does not get the recognition it deserves from Hasbro), and Armada. In 2004 fans were ripping it a new asshole and unlike Armada and Cybertron nostalgia for Energon is essentially non-existent online. Its remembered as the bad show. The wiki doesn't help with that but Energon is really fucking bad. The dub butchers Superlink too, which wasn't all that great itself but the dub makes things almost incomprehensible. There's additional engineering costs associated with the Powerlinx gimmick too. I do like the Energon designs and I would like figures but I don't see us getting them anytime soon.

THEEEN you can do a 3rd that's [Glup Shitto Squad] or whatever
You can even STILL push Double dip by making these all SS86 stylization then do Set 1 and 2 AGAIN as like Toy or whatever other versions

Why would it sell when a good half of the big names came with the most recent Soundwave? They do releases like this alongside new Soundwaves and Blasters for people that bought the recent Soundwave and Blaster. If you buy SS86 Soundwave you have Ravage, Buzzsaw, and Laserbeak. It would be absolutely retarded to have those three waste spots. If Rumble and Frenzy are in the Decepticon box it'd be because the two can't be reissued despite demand.

I've got a few boxes in the closet, but most of it just goes on the shelves (which I'm admittedly in the process of reorganizing and paring down right now). My general rule is don't buy anything you're not actually going to put on display. I've definitely bought more than I should have on the TF front over the last year though and I'm trying to slow down with that everything else I collect. Best to confine yourself to a single lane or two with franchises this vast, otherwise it gets to be way too much.
>>
>>11919718
Prowl's whole thing is that he is the cop one. In G1 Prowl's the cop version of Bluestreak. In RiD he's the cop car. In Animated he's the cop motorcycle.

And I don't post in the Joe threads, but the toys seem cool so I'm not too proud to admit that couldn't change at some point kek.

Adorableness. Seriosuly, though, she's an easy build, especially if you have some experience with Gunpla or Girlpla in general. While she doesn't really need paint, she does greatly benefit from a little panel lining - also, you'll want to line her Autobot insignia on her shoulder with white, since it's just raised plastic with no color separation.

I don't give a shit, just because the anime is bad does not mean the toys and design should be locked away never to be revisited ever again. If fucking Beast Machines still manages to get new toys and love in modern times in spite of the show's bad reception why can't Energon? Energon Optimus managed to get 10th place in that Masterpiece poll years ago. Granted that was many years ago but the fact he had enough votes to make it in the top 10 despite having the reputation of being fat thanks to his original toy says something. Everyone wants a new Energon Optimus, he's a fucking Megazord Combiner and everyone loves that shit. Just give him an additional transformation 'mode' to slim him down while in core robot mode while retaining every other non-electronic gimmick and that should be enough for most people.
>There's additional engineering costs associated with the Powerlinx gimmick too. I do like the Energon designs and I would like figures but I don't see us getting them anytime soon.
And that Powerlinx gimmick is on like what? 8 figures? That's only a quarter or less to the rest of the toyline that don't use the Powerlinx gimmick and are deserving of a remake. Get me a new Energon Landmine, or a new Starscream even.

Does it? The last Beast Machines homage we got was that Core Class Cheetor the same year as Core Energon Galvatron. Technically there was T-wrecks but that's not show BM and a easy redeco of Megatron
The last one in retail before that was Tankor all the way back in Thrilling 30. And that was was so small it was basically pointless.

>And that Powerlinx gimmick is on like what? 8 figures?
Its more or less all the non-basic Autobots so its nearly half the line. About 17 that interact with each other, a few that interact with just Optimus, and then one or two that interact with just each other like Mega-Dinobot.

Landmine and Ultra Magnus are more or less the only two large-scale characters that don't interact with the rest of the line but Landmine still has an armor-system with his trailer and Ultra Magnus was a toy-only G1 repaint of Armada Overload.

They know it won't sell all that well, and they know people don't want compromised Energon figures so we wait. Also we're not getting Beast Machines. We aren't even getting Strika and she appeared in two other shows.

This. I own the guy, and every time I look at him, I'm more and more convinced that he was originally intended to be Rodimus from the start before being tweaked into Optimus - you're pretty much just a head and chestplate swap away from him, and that trailer is pretty damning. That being said, Blaster would also have been a good fit, if only because he pairs better with Basara's whole music theme and is already the correct color scheme.

It warms my heart whenever I see a little respect being put on Energon/Super Link. Anime aside, it’s a better toyline than basically everyone gives it credit for and aside from a few toys with an awkward, but still fun, gimmick. As a whole it was better than Armada IMO. Even those Powerlink toys at least had a basic level of articulation we’d come to expect from Beast Wars/RID. Can’t say the same for Armada.

Death is so weird in these comics, sometimes they're dead forever? Sometimes they're not? Jetfire was dead-dead then they made him a living plane, then he was okay again? Ratchet is dead, until he isn't? Starscream blew his own head off and all it did was kill off his heel-turn instantly? Slingshot is just gone now? Trailbreaker is "this is totally a real, permanent death this time we swear!" dead? Bumblebee is missing his face but he'll be fine sooner or later?
>>
>>11920032
>Starscream blew his own head off and all it did was kill off his heel-turn instantly?
To be fair, Starscream dying and coming back isn't anything unusual in the franchise. That's like being shocked that Optimus dies and comes back all the time.

I think he works best as a Convoy rather than Optimus, if that makes sense.
My silly handcanon for him is that he's a Convoy leading a scientific expedition to study a weird energy spike that turns out to be a space portal reacting to the Macross' universes Fold energy, he gets sucked in after saving the rest of his crew after using his Matrix, and is stuck in a sci-fi truck alt mode and in a scrapyard for awhile. He gets picked up for cheap as a tour vehicle by Fire Bomber American, and he's forced to listen to them bastardising Fire Bomber songs on their tour.
There's an attack from a Zentradi pirate band towards the end of their tour, and it's not until the Fire Bomber American knockoff Basara refuses to try and sing to culture shock them that Convoy is able to muster up enough energy to transform and try to save everyone.
As Convoy is acting as a shield to try and save the crowd of people who came for the performance, and FBA have just ran off to save themselves, the real Basara just nonchalantly appears with his acoustic guitar and starts singing Power to the Dream, Convoy's Matrix reacts to Basara's singing and spiritia, causing the miraculous transformation into Basara Convoy and his VF-19 alt mode. With his own guitar, and his speakers amplifying everything, the duo rock out until the Zentradi can't fight anymore.
Basara and Convoy have a little moment together once the day is saved. Basara walks off into the sunset, and Convoy flies off into the skies, detecting a strange energy reading, hoping it'll either be the way home, or something where a Convoy is needed to make a difference and save the day.

Detractors are right that most of the deluxe/voyager autobots are janky and that it's the black sheep of the trilogy, but it had its strong points regardless

I've always loved Fat Convoy and Landmine and all of the little scout-class guys that came with energon weapons. Also the fact that many of the new molds still had minicon pegs for cross-compatibility with Armada

>>
>>11920045
Yeah I do, he's cool. It definitely tries to do too much so it can also be a dodgy truck and advertise 7 modes but the guitar, the windows opening to reveal the speakers, and the trailer stage are super fun, and they nail the face sculpt for him too. I put a deposit down on the DNA kit to give him the speaker shoulders too, I think they'll really help with the overall look, and I guess the Sound Booster is fine too.
It'll definitely never happen, but I would love if he got a matching VF-17 Nightmare collab toy, or even just a Nemesis Prime recolour, I'm a big enough fool to buy this toy twice if they did that.
>>
>>11919985
The difference here is that many RiD and UT toys don't need updates as much as some G1 designs. Wanting a Thunderclash that can move his shoulders and knees makes perfect sense and goes beyond just nostalgia.

>>
>>11920051
To me the only RiD01 toys that absolutely need updates are the Build Team and Team Bullet Train. They're ambitious combiners who need modern engineering to sell the concept. I would really like Spy Changers that can articulate too but I think the appeal of those figures is that they're pocket sized Hot Wheels-styled cars that transform so its not really necessary. For everything else the issue is more age. I wish they could just reissue the Car Brothers because they're really solid toys hampered by disintegrating clear plastic. My three childhood copies are barely holding on to life right now.
>>
>>11919985
>I grew up with Car Robots and UT
Same. I had my Primals but RiD was my first Prime. Then Bendy, then Cybertron and so on and so forth until today
I feel very fortunate to have grown with the franchise in the way I have. A wee baby child watching Beast Wars on tv, but still having a few G1 VHSs so I was still familiar with the originals
'96 to '06 feels like their was such a breadth to the franchise
'07 to '11 was when I starting coming into my own money and I don't think it's controversial to say that's when the toys were at their peak

All this to say, yeah, I also prefer when we get new and cool shit

>but I'd like to see more respect for Starscream.
Dude, same. I got him for a good price complete not long ago and he's unironically a great toy. In fact I think out of the original UT Starscream toys his has aged the best. Armada is a (handsome) brick and Cybertron's arms are a bit stumpy and useless. Meanwhile Energon has full modern range outside of wrists, waist and ankles and he looks incredible IMO. Makes a great "revenant" ghost Starscream with his semi-physical look.

Therein lies the problem. Energon/Super Link gets dismissed because of the Powerlinx Autobots, which make up only 1/5th of the toyline, and I’d argue that only a couple of those are even bad toys. There are close to 60 other good Energon toys that get ignored simply for their association with those few awkward Autobots and a bad dub.
It’s just a shame is all.
>>
>>11920055
>I'd like to see more respect for Starscream.
I think the issue is that of the three UT shows Energon's version of Starscream is typical viewed as a low point for the character. Its a really great design but people tend to remember Energon Starscream for being a cheap toy cashgrab that the show did nothing good with.

I'll be gutted if we don't get an Energon Starscream update to go with the other two. Enegon was such a cool take on a G1 Starscream with the half-ghost translucent plastic look. It helped a lot too that he reused G2 Smokescreen's transformation, which was probably the best jet transformer we'd gotten by that point.

>which make up only 1/5th of the toyline
Energon had 6 size classes and 74 mainline releases. The Energon Class was small scale figures. There were 26 figures released in this class. Two of these were re-releases of the Starsaber and Perceptor. 14 had a combining gimmick. That's 53%

Combat class had 19 figures. One was Kicker so putting him aside because he can't even transform that's 18 Transformers. 12 of them had a powerlinx gimmick. That's 67% of figures.

Mega class had 14 figures. Treadbolt (A redeco of Armada Scavenger) is the only Autobot who does not combine. 9 of these 14 figures have a combiner gimmick and one is essentially a Quintesson statue. That's 64%.

Command class had 7 figures. One is a redeco of an Armada Autobot, one is redeco of Armada Tidal Wave, and then Landmine/Landquake and Bulkhead/Quickstrike are redecos of eachother. Two combine with older toys but not with Energon toys. None of these figures combine with others, 0%, but Landmind and Bulkhead's molds however do include specialized armor pieces.

Leader Class has three figures. One combine with others. Prime and Megatron/Galvatron. 33% of these figures have a combining gimmick.

Supreme Class has three figures. Omega Supreme and Omega Sentinel share a mold, Unciron is an Armada re-release. 66% of these figures have a combining gimmick.

26+18+14+7+3+3=71

14+12+9+0+1+2=38
38/71=54% of the toyline. If you were to take out the Armada repaints that number would climb pretty quickly. I did not include exclusives in this count but I don't think that would change anything. Its hardly 1/5th of the line. It was a wideline gimmick.

ALL the major autobots short of Landmine and Bulkhead have that gimmick. Nearly all of the characters people would want, like say Hot Shot, Jetfire, the G1 guys, and Prime have that gimmick to some degree. They can't revisit Energon without addressing that just like they can't revist Transmetals without addressing the vac metal parts.

The problem was they had spread the line too far at the time. From 2008 to 2015 we had
>Movie toys
>Animated toys
>CHUG
>Various smaller lines like Crossovers and those drone combiners over the years
>Masterpiece
Wallets were stretched too thin so they prioritized movies and CHUG but then movieshit kind of trickled out and Cartoons never went back to being a focus. I do think they need a high-profile cartoon like Prime or the UT again but at this point it seems like CHUG is the backbone of the series moving forward.

I know the Powelinx name is all over the toys, even Landmine and Bulkhead, I'm not disputing that. My point is that you don't see people complaining about Super Mode Optimus, Omega Supreme. or even the Energon Combiners much. All of those are technically Powerlinx but detractors tend to specifically focus on the shirt/pants combiners, which make up about 1/5th of the line and dismiss the rest. I just think it's a shame that people overlook everything else good about the line because of the bad perception of one part of it.
Also, I'm not taking about potential redos (though I'd love to get some) but rather the original line, which I think gets unfairly maligned.

Diecast is the biggest lie ever told to toy collectors. It's the cheapest, shittiest metal money can buy, crammed into a toy to artificially bump up the cost. Cyberworld is barely drawing in an average of 200k viewers per episode despite being created for ADHD screen zombies. I think 2028/2029 will be spotty but once they find their footing and the split is in full force I think there's a lot of potential.

I talked about this a little bit a couple threads ago, but I’m shocked Hasbro isn’t trying to make Transformers more like their other toylines and combining everything under one roof with consistent engineering. That way you could do both nostalgic toys and tie-in toys at the same time similar to Marvel Legends or The Black Series

>I've been saying for years that they need to put their whole ass back into a cartoon line.
Pic related sums it up very well and I already alluded to this but that making a cartoon is a lost cause. Blackrock and Vanguard has Hasbro by the balls so the most you'll get is some dogshit propaganda like Earthspark (which has all the hallmarks of BlackRock funded propaganda) and kids see right through this shit and refuse to watch it, stuff like Cyberverse and Cyberworld are so hollow and starved of an identity. Even the names are the same, as if for the last 15 years Hasbro has been recycling the same generic taglines and names out of a hat.
The best you're going to get really is an anime because that's all people watch anymore but honestly you would be better off making a video game but Hasbro was stupid enough to let their entire video games market for Transformers to utterly blow up in their face.

>Cyberverse
Cyberverse season 3 was really really good though. Season 1 was awful, season 2 was bland (though I appreciated the Hot Rod/Cheetor/Bee trio), but season 3 was great all around. Cyberworld just killed off a main character so maybe that will go somewhere interesting but since its a virtual world I doubt it.
>>11920304
I think they kind of already did that with the WFC trilogy and then expanded that reach with Legacy by introducing new designs for characters like Knock Out and Bulkhead that match the G1 aesthetic. Fans wanted more faithful designs though so they eased back into making those toys look like the original designs. I think what really hurts the brand now though is that its not as easy to work with car companies to license vehicles as it used to be and that leads to the cars being really lackluster.
>>
>>11920312
If "Don't worry guys it gets really good after the first 40 episodes of garbage" is all you have to market your line then it's not worth investing any time into it.
It doesn't help that everything about these current shows look and feel painfully generic in every way.

Your first mistake is thinking that these guys care about money. They're not the ones raising the prices on the shelf, at least not actively. They don't care about profit the same way the companies they own because they know the long term effects of what they're doing will more than make up for it. Larry Fink himself said that he wants to force behavioral change. They plant propaganda into everything as a means of programming the population into being mindless consumers e.g. the post IDW fans of transformers.

Either you never bought or played with any of the Energon toys or you're an idiot. Powerlinx is the catch all term for combination during Energon but it isn't the fucking wideline gimmick, that was the Energon Stars and weapons, I am sick of people misremembering this when Powerlinx was only applied to the Autobots not the Decepticons.
When people attribute to Powerlinx as a problem for revisiting Energon they mean ONLY the shirt and pants combiners because yeah, that's a gimmick that's tough to work in within budget. And they only make up 1/5th of the toyline like what >>11920108 said. If that's so then why not revisit the OTHER toys in the toyline that don't have the shirt and pants combining gimmick? Optimus is a Scramble City/Megazord Combiner, they can totally do that easily especially because he's Optimus. Both Landmine and Bulkhead are easy to do because they were basically the precursors Siege Leader Class toys. You have the entire fleet of Omnicons as well as Superion Maximus who is also a traditional Combiner to work with. And that's just the Autobots alone, the Decepticons can easily be remade because their gimmick was flip out weapons referred to as 'Hyper Mode'.

>There's only two things in this world, goodness, and money
This is how retards view the world. These people own about 80% of the world's wealth and control how much any currency is worth in the modern age. Why do you think these people care about maximizing profits. The only people who care about that are the companies they own. Most of the shit that google runs like Youtube and Gmail operate at a loss but it doesn't matter because they have an entire database containing every little detail about you
Besides, in the situation these companies do go bust, shareholders can still profit from their loss by selling them off. Its not about making money, its about strangling anyone who tries to climb the ladder
>>
>>11920382
anon i'm the biggest weeb in the world, but we're never going to win people over via hostility. let the superiority of the original speak for itself. and, when the original is actually inferior, point out that nobody should change a creator's vision for such a dumb reason.
>>
>>11920388
>Why do you think these people care about maximizing profits
well there's this little mathematical thing that says when you multiply X by Y, the higher X is, the higher the total increase is. The more money you have, the more motivation you have to increase the value. If you add 10% to the value, you just turned a billion into 1.1 billion, get it? You just got 100 mil. whereas if you have a buck, you just made 10 cents.
The inverse is true of farmers, miners, fishers, people on the production / just fucking taking shit side of the economy, which is why we kinda need to stop doing those things as a business. THEY benefit from the value of the currency going DOWN. I learned this from Neopets, but it's okay if you're only just now getting it.
>they have a database about you
again, so they can sell it. see that's an example of 'evil for money'
but what these retards are doing is evil for LOSS of money, and that makes no sense. I know they're commies and all, but.. they can't all be on top in the new order. And you don't get rich with a gambler's mindset.

They don't need to re-release those guys because you people were too lazy to get them when they came out, they need to finish out the remaining cassette characters. The Decepticon version should be Howlback, Garboil, Flipsides, Enemy as repaints and finish it out with Slugfest and Overkill as the new tapes. Put Squawktalk, Beastbox and Autoscout with Soundblaster to giv e real incentive to get the repaint.

What part of "they have infinite money" don't you get. They quite literally control the flow of currency and effectively own companies that sell what are basically necessities to the average person so it doesn't matter how much is lost it will all just go back to them. Your mistake is thinking that these investors are separate and not a monolith.
>I know they're commies and all

>The Takara designers and writers who created Superlink named it after combination and filled the line with combining figures.
Yeah no fucking shit you idiot. But you're forgetting that Energon/Superlink was a cross collaboration between Takara and Hasbro, it wasn't entirely a 100% Takara creation otherwise we'd see them give as much love to it as they're doing with BWII right now. Aaron Archer and Eric Siebenaler both played an important role in the toyline as much as the Japanese designers, bless Kunihiro for making majority of the Autobots.
Energon Stars/Chips is the line-wide gimmick, both the Autobots and Decepticons were able to plug the Stars/Chips on them similar to Mini-Cons and the weapons were customizable with each Transformer's personal weapon as well as each other and were backwards compatible with Mini-Cons. Hell, Takara made special repaints of said Energon weapons that are sold either as bonuses to the suped up Transformers or given away as promotional campaign prizes. You don't know jack shit you retard.

>>11920411
Oh, that's a good point. There's already Megatron/Galvatron and now Shockblast in core class, a core Grand Convoy would probably be pretty neat. They won't do it, but it would be neat.
>>
>>11920408
Doubt it. Takara prefers Hasbro foots the bill so they don't use their own budget. That budget normally going into MP figures or collabs.

NL barely counts, since the line is 90% repaints, and only one new mold, and I doubt they'll waste their budget on Grand Convoy or Galvatron, not to mention GC brings in a new set of issues that I'm sure they'd rather avoid.

>>
>>11920416
Look pal, I have no idea what you're talking about with the head.

>>11920414
Not to mention NL exist mostly so they have an excuse to make BWII Galvatron. Considering BWII is their creation, they really wanted a new Galvatron to go with Lio Convoy and presumably Hasbro either isn't interested or have him low in their priorities so Takara stepped up their game.
If Energon/Superlink was entirely TakaraTomy's product they'd have the same drive and push out Optimus and Megatron but it isn't so for now they're content with repainting Wild King Optimus into Grand Convoy, not even going to extra mileage to retool it even.

G1 Grimlock's robot head was set way behind his shoulders/spine. The Missing Link toy introduces an extra joint so you have the option to move the head into a more properly aligned positioned.

They'd even touch Cybertron/Galaxy Force, if what Mark said about one particular Takara designer wanting to have a go at remaking Optimus way before Energon/Superlink.

>>11920425
The fact that they released Armada Hot Shot and then skipped Energon Hot Shot to release Cybertron Hot Shot shows how little interest they have in doing Energon. It would have been easy to do all three. They did the same with Screamer.
>>
>>11920420
The Takara Lio has so much new tooling that I'm inclined to believe they would've made him too if Hasbro wasn't going to play ball. Like remolding all of his fur for some reason.

>>
>>11920430
It's the worst in Starscream's case because the original toy was a near replica of G2 Smokescreen. Considering how much Takara loves G2, this would've been the golden opportunity to make Energon/Superlink Starscream and then retool him into G2 Smokescreen AND THEN make G2 Dreadwing.

>>11920432
Very possible ever since the T-Spark initiative happened. But I think Hasbro footing the bill in making Lio Convoy is the push TakaraTomy needed to revive the Legends line into New Legends which eventually lead to BWII Galvatron. I wish they'd show this much love to Armada/Micron Legends, Energon/Superlink and Cybertron/Galaxy Force but as I said before those three anime and toylines were a cross collaboration with Hasbro. So TakaraTomy is probably waiting for Hasbro to fit the bill first before they can do anything with it (and so far they haven't done anything special with Armada/Micron Legends or Cybetron/Galaxy Force).
>>
>>11920441
Wouldn’t it make more sense to tool Smokescreen and Dreadwing and then retool Smokescreen on his own into Starscream, like how they did Armada Optimus first, then Nemesis without the trailer

>>
>>11920445
Considering recent reveals that Starscream does not necessarily have to be the first character of the mold to be made and that Energon/Superlink still doesn't get the love it deserves you're right.
I was just thinking that since Starscream has the circuitry detailing on him to show that he is resurrected as a former dead bot similarly to Transmetal II Dinobot, I figured it would be better to release him first and then retool him into G2 Smokescreen, erasing the circuitry detailing just like how most Siege molds that get re-released into SS86 have their greebling shaved off like Shockwave.
>>
>>11920446
Not to mention he's bundled with 5 Energy Beasts and is locked behind TakaraTomy Mall exclusive meaning he is difficult to get and no way to get him on his own.

He’s apparently a Reactivate Starscream retool, which I’ve heard is a good mold, so he’ll probably be decent at the very least. The twin wrist cannons is why I think they’ll pull from Classics Jetfire as well, rather than fully being R-Blade
>>
>>11920450
it'd be so nice to get a better TM2 dinobot, but 3P has shown us that he's basically impossible. the toy deliberately went weird, the TV model fixed him up a lot (though it goofed up the beast mode a bit, but he was almost never in it), and he really needs a significant redesign before he'll look great. both modes essentially have legs for arms, and you can tell.

Worst part is the combination loses articulation, no elbows or ankle tilts, though Optimus doesn't have ankle tilts to begin with. you'd think takara would have learned from the debacle with zoids. the current much-more-middle-of-the-road lines are massively outselling the ultra-complex-adult-collector and simplified babymode lines, the latter of which flat-out died except that its molds keep getting used for crossovers.
>>
>>11920489
it's pretty, and it contrasts nicely with the 'organic robot modes'. They need to just put a goddamn protective coat on it.

actually I wonder if Transmetals were a reaction to how the tv show used very different textures for the beast flesh and robot parts, even when they shared colors. Something the toys decidedly did not do.

I'm not sure but I do think they were introduced too soon. Beast Wars would have benefitted from just sticking to animals for the first three years and then introducing concepts like Transmetals and Fuzors later to freshen the line up for the next three years. Doing them right off the bat kind of lead to the line needing a major refresh after three years but the two coolest gimmicks were already used so instead we got Beast Machines for the refresh since it was a natural progression of Transmetals II but Beast Machines were really ugly. And then we would have gotten Transtech after that which evolved the concept even further. It all just moved too fast. Still love the Transmetals though.
>>
>>11920494

I think "make new toys for the same characters" was both the mission statement as well a somewhat alien request
Like sure some toylines reused characters before, like TMNT and Batman obviously, but Transformers has historically always been a bit different
Kennner/Hasbro chose to reinvent the wheel and put out Transmetals, but I think the next timeline over may have had load of retooled year one toys, like Armorized™ Cheetor and Capture Claw™ Rattrap
>>
>>11920546
that's a really good point actually.
I'm all for transformers getting new bodies, but it's better if it's a bit more special. of course, they were probably sort of juggling "wait, how close is our toyline to the tv show now? are kids supposed to assume these toy-only characters came out of pods?" and that's why we got no non-tv-character transmetal 1s.
>>
>>11920553
Technically there were two basic-class originals and they renamed TM Inferno since Inferno was shelfwarming really bad but I do think they planned to use characters the show promoted because they were still juggling things. Then they got more experimental with TMII figures.
>>
>>11920553
>that's why we got no non-tv-character transmetal 1s.
And that's where Fuzors comes in I suppose, bulk out that year's toys with non-show characters
Though of course what happened was they came up with two ideas and just used both of them. We've seen the concept art of gorilla/eagle fuzor Primal. So this maybe could have just easily been the other way around.
Bulk of the show cast becomes Fuzors and triple changing metal animals get to play back up

>I figured it would be better to release him first and then retool him into G2 Smokescreen, erasing the circuitry detailing just like how most Siege molds that get re-released into SS86 have their greebling shaved off like Shockwave.
That's not how that works. They don't alter the existing steel molds to add or remove surface detail, new parts get new molds. So it wouldn't matter either way who was made first.

I didn't see it before but this almost looks like a cyberjet mold pretool. Obviously far from perfrcy and honestly the original molds plus ankle tilts and a wridt swivelwould work just fine, but this mold works.

I would give it the Gamer Edition hand gimmick so you can mount the hand missile launcher between the tailfins. Or maybe make that missile launcher peg over the robot mode hand.

>I think the Inferno thing might be a misunderstanding, given we know one early idea for Megatron was to retool his T Rex toy into a dragon, which Hasbro probably called Inferno Megatron

Bob Forward was pretty clear in the interview about this in the 1997 interview.

>HooksX: Speaking of getting grim: It is no secret that many of the Predacons
have come very close to final deactivation. Will any of the Beast Warriors meet their demise in the three-part finale? Were there ever plans to kill
any Beast Warriors?

>BeastBob1: Oh yes. For a while there Hasbro was planning to make the Inferno
toy the new Megatron. We were going to kill Megatron and bring him back as
Inferno. A few other deaths were planned as well. But I don't want to give
away too much.

Everything you posted is just conjecture when the simplest thing is to just believe the guy working on the show knows what he's talking about.

The only "evidence" is that they were planning on making a dragon Megatron early on but nowhere I can find ever said that it would have been called Inferno Megatron.

I hate the teeny rockets and what looks like a dragon head on Ravage. Honestly, Ramhorn seems to be the one given decent justice. Even some 3rd parties shit the bed here and there. What's crazy to me too, like... again, Ravage. In this age of Blokees and such, in this year of 2026... WHY is there not even a decent non-transforming figure of him, articulated or otherwise? If the shoulders were just attached to his fucking torso the figure would be fine in robot mode but for whatever reason they attached them to the fucking back kibble. Exactly, and it was right around the same time as Cosmos' first release, too, iirc. Got this guy earlier today.

Holy fuck. I’ve been buying these figures for a long time. This actually might be the single worst designed transformation on a figure I own.

Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to use double-jointed plates with spring loaded flaps for the torso? Legit impossible to get it to tab together correctly without popping apart if you breathe on it wrong.

Requires so much force to actuate some of these joints that I’m actually worried I might snap something, too. It’s a shame. Once this thing is in either mode, it’s a really sharp looking figure.
>>
>>11921733
>The only reveals even mildly interesting are Red Alert and Nautica, and they both look weird.
Yeah I was interested in Nautica but she looks very off, puffy almost. Hopefully we get a better look at her soon. As for Red Alert I am very content with my Kingdom version.
I'm honestly glad to not have much that interests me, let my wallet breathe for a bit. I kind of want Alpha Bravo, but I don't know if I "$30" want him.
>>
>>11921759
Yeah, I liked the Vortex mold, but I also got it for 16, and I don't like it enough to pay 30. Nautica is just odd, many puffy bits, flat chest, and her head looks odd, like she's wearing a helmet, I'm pretty sure it didn't look like that in the comic either. On Red Alert, the proportions looked weird in some pics and the head looked sunken in.

Not really saving so much, since I'm getting some of those new legends releases. Debating on getting Gigastorm and Nemesis Star Convoy.
>>
>>11921750
I've never had trouble with him, but I will say it's interesting how his back kibble has a lot of weirdly concentrically duplicate joints, so you can mess around with it a lot.
meanwhile the crotch splitting apart, THAT worries me.
>>
>>11921780
There were some breakage issues left arm, most were people forcing panels, but a notable one that impacts all versions is the hip covers for beast mode, the pin can ger loose with time and I'll start falling out.

Also, for some reason, the left shoulder could break, but I only ever heard this happened with Megatron.
>>

Possibility wise SS86 beats it. I DO like the chunkyness and he's nicer in some spots but I think it's personal preference
If you go SS86 you DEFINTELY want the kit for the shoulders
The base SS86 has some issues where some plastics can stress just doing fucking transformation

MP-22 is nice but I haven’t touched mine once since I got the 86. I was on the fence over the 86 for a long time, but I’m glad I got him. He’s pretty great.
>>11921802
This anon summarized it pretty well. 86’s articulation is better and it has a better face sculpt. The MP’s articulation really sucks. It looks fantastic in both modes though. It’s more a matter of scale than anything else. If you want him to scale with mainline well then 86 it is

Good Lord, that's depressing. I make it a point to get out of the house for a few hours a day, not counting my afternoon walk or my graveyard shift. Seriously, get up and move a bit - you'll feel a lot better about a lot of things.

>>
>>11921750
I have the Kingdom boxset and I think Megatron might be my least favorite. He's really clunky, the transformation sucks, and the crotch split is worrying. Scorponok is a worse toy but Megatron is a character I have higher expectations for. Inferno is the best. Everyone should own a Legacy Inferno.
>>

>get out of the house
that's a good way to get shot here. I'm focusing on trying to get a job (which I really, really can't actually do, but disability is too hard to apply for and I've already done it twice) to get the fuck out of here. But instead, more broke family is moving IN, so my space got smaller. I almost can't move around anymore, I bump into shit every few feet.
And the sad thing is, just about everyone I know is in a worse situation.

They should give Rodimus Prime vehicle mode flight wings and thrusters if his altmode is a space Winnebago.

I want Rodimus to have a trailer that actually functions as something interesting.

>>
>>11921824
Well, if we go by his first pic on TFwili all he needs is a tank and helicopter.

What I've been thinking is if Sky Guard becomes a leg, and Breakaway becomes an arm, they could have Bruticus remolded into a proper Nexus, and give him a repainted Brawl as Landquake, a repainted Vortex as Topspin, and then enough accessories to force Sky Guard to fit, and AotP Nexus to be an alt-torso.

>>11922023
Maybe it will be somewhat similar to Energon Mega-Dinobot
>>11922034
My legitimate answer is that it depends. Galvatron is one of those characters whose height changes depending on who he’s next to. I’ve argued that he should probably be a bit smaller, but then the BWNeo anime shows him being bigger than Magmatron due him actually being Unicron in disguise
>>
>>11922034
Bigger if anything. The new toy is the same height as Magmatron, Galvatron was a head taller than him.

Buy one, get one 50% off. Pay full price for the first item, and you can get a second item of an equal or lesser retail cost at a 50% discount.

I dont suppose those anons who were discussing gift giving and the valentine set from a day or so ago are still around? They reminded me of a story by O'Henry called "The Gift of the Magi". Of either of you two are still around and want to understand the practice and motivation of gift giving a little bit better, i reccomend you take a few minutes and read it. Its plenty shirt, and i think you'll get a lot out of it.

Shame. I found the TR one oddly appealing. Probably because it actually fet like its own toy, instead of just being a brick/accessory for something else. Even though it also was that.

The elbow broke on mine and I never figured out what to do about it. His corpse is interred in a small box of similarly broken transformers. I've managed to repair a few over the years, but not him.

I don't understand why people get so mad at the pronoun thing in Earthspark, or trans people existing. Trans representation in Transformers isnt even that good we dont even have a full on Trans character like IDW in mainstream cartoons. I dont see the problem with it they exist in real life and it would be nice if those kids had something for them. My ex has 1 trans kid and he loves transformers.

I always thought this guy was underrated. His tank mode was cute, and I loved that his gun was also a stylus/antenna/turret barrel; incredibly versatile plastic toothpick. My only complaint was that he didn't have a proper cockpit for a headmaster to ride in.
