What are the oldest toys you've found still for sale at a retail store?
>>11921496MIB vintage Battle Bones, mint for 40 eurobucks about fifteen years ago. Comic Store in Germany.
>>11921496Admiral Holdo in Walgreens last year. Keep in mind Last Jedi came out in 2027.
>>119215212017. Derp.
2018, in a Joann Fabrics of all places. Came across some beanie babies that looked like they had been sitting there for literal decades. I remember in specific the white parts on the bluejay turned completely yellow. Looked at the tush tag and sure enough: 1999Did an ebay search on the spot for each one on my phone. None were worth enough to disturb their resting place, so there they remain for decades to come.
>>11921496>>11921496>>11921496Around 1997 I saw a GiJoe Retaliator (1990) still in a Roses department store. They were kind of a regional k-mart in the Carolinas - still a few around. They are like the most ghetto dirty dollar general now.In 1998 I worked in Hills where the stockroom was like were they stored the Ark of the Covenant in IJ. I was dragging casefuls of stuff like the Kenner Aliens v. Predator set out on to the floor.
>>11921496About 15 years ago a German anon found a store full of brand new stock from the late 80s and 90s. I got some tokusatsu stuff middlemanned from him. Shit was fucking crazy
>>11921496Wal-Mart took over Woolco locations here, and in 2004 when my girlfriend was shopping for panties I spotted something stuck in between wall-mounted shelf units and it turned out to be a vintage ROTJ Prune Face with a 50 cent Woolco clearance sticker on him.
>>11921530Joann Fabrics closed down 3 years ago anon, they likely were incinerated in that massive product clearance they did of the stores in 2025 of product that no on would take.
>>11921496I've had a few moment but the strangest was two Star Brigade GIjoe BAATs at a Walmart in 2019, they were listed at $17 a piece. for the card discoloration I assumed they just got lost between shelves until a major remodel occurred. Honorable mention was back in 2014 finding a copy of Sega Saturn's Guardian Heroes at a K-mart clearance bin for $50. It was the only Saturn game there too and the next oldest some GBA sports games and GBA samurai jack.
A copy of Sonic 2 on Game Gear was sold at a Toys R Us in 2018, as confirmed by a market research analyst.https://archive.is/sk8R2
>>11921496Neo Shifters at Toys R Us, 2016Adventure Quest Worlds guy, still at the price it was back in like 2007, during Toys R Us closing season
>>11921496My local Ollies still has Oz the Great and Powerful.
>>11921496When toysrus was clearencing everything they somehow got sticker sets from spider man 2 out on shelves in 2018. Also some old 2011 ninjago spinners were on sale then too>>11921544>I spotted something stuck in between wall-mounted shelf units and it turned out to be a vintage ROTJ Prune Face with a 50 cent Woolco clearance sticker on him.Did you get him?
>>11921496One time I found a Shaq Fu cartridge at some random mom & pop grocery store in Delaware during like the Wii days. That was cool. Wish I had bought it.
>>11921496When i worked at K mart in 2011-2012. i was cleaning up and looked under the bottom of some random shelf in the toy section and saw sealed packs on first gen Digimon cards, Road Champs BXS fingerbikes, and Justice League figure sets.I was so baffled that they had been there so long, i decided to look under other shelves Where i found a 12" Star Wars Collector Series Boba Fett figure. I tried to buy all of what i could find they had been clearanced out and they wouldnt let me buy it and told me to throw it away.I left them outside and picked them up later after we closed, lol
>>11921496my family was still getting me kenner B&R figs way into 2004-6 somehow, got this guy in my Easter basket one year
>>11921878>left them outside and picked them up laterBased
>>11921878>I left them outside and picked them up later after we closed, lolI like you
>>11921882I still remember KB Toys still having toys like these at the time, and Goodwill was still good. Maybe that's how. Also i thought Easter just got you chocolate and candy
Walmart in GA 2017.Found an unopened Toybiz LOTR Two Towers Gollum Figure (the bendy wire one with the rock that plays voice lines). It had been so long that the inventory number was not showing up at the register. Sold it to me for $15 since that was the going price on eBay at the time when the manager looked it up on his phone to allow the transaction.
>>11921878>I left them outside and picked them up later after we closed, lol
>>11921874These, right? I remember that thread, super cool to think how these stores had such nuggets hidden away for so long. Closest I got to something that old was near the end of Kmart's life, when I found the emptied cardboard tray of what appeared to be plush Keychain for the 2003 Hulk movie. No Hulks. But I have found product.
>>11921912Sometime around 2021-2022, I was wandering through the toy section at a Kohls and found a Marvel Universe Black Cat. Very beat-up, and marked down by a lot.
I went into our local Wal-Greens in 2015 or so and found a Universe Sunstreaker. When Toys R Us was closing they still had some of the old Naruto figures.
>>11921914Battle Claw never stood a chance
>>11921878Based. Do you have any of these figures left anymore? If you do take a pic for proof plz
>>11921912Holy shit thats them. I mightve made that thread myself. Does anyone have the thread archived?
>>11921875If video games count, I remember seeing MadWorld for the Wii being sold a supermarket in 2014.
>>11921496The one that springs to mind is finding a full box of Mega Bloks Halo Series 2 blind bags at a Dollarama in 2019, nearly a decade and over a dozen series after they originally hit shelves. Pic related, bought a complete set and still have them unopened for a rainy day or something.Thinking on it some more, the K'NEX Titanfall sets currently on sale at the local liquidation centre were originally released 12 years ago.
>>11921878kek, the good ending
>>11921572It's not quite on that level, but I bought a new copy of Blast Corps for N64 from a Toys R Us in late 2007 or early 2008. There was a cart full of N64 games marked down to $5. A few odds and ends I don't remember, but it was like 80% copies of Blast Corps.I also got a Powermaster Optimus Prime from a local hardware store in 1994. I was a little young for Transformers and missed the heyday, but somehow my dad found out this random store had a some Transformers in the back. My guess is they got a case for Christmas one year and they didn't sell. The bastards charged me $40 for it too.
