I stopped keeping up with modern books a while ago and for stuff like this, I just looked up the wiki to get the backstory on what I missed, if anything sounds good enough to read, I'll go check it out. Like for me, the idea that the Marvel Universe didn't really get started until after 9/11 is kinda wild to me and I don't really like it that much, but at the same time it's fine within the context of the story so I don't let it bug me.

Oh my stars and garters, Beast actually got here today. He's pretty good, though one of the foot hinges is a little askew and the safety goggles scratched his left cheek slightly when I put them on (love when they include accessories that fuck up the toys).>>11932830>My X-Men are more my mind's eye version than outright based on any specific source.I understand and respect this. I've been opting for the 97 versions because the XTAS/Jim Lee designs just make me go 'yep, those are the X-Men' every time I look at them in the best way. I agree they're not perfect though, especially 97 Morph being too scrawny and the 97 Cyclops head not being the best (still really annoys me that they went with gold for the visor when the got the matte yellow perfect on previous and subsequent releases). I'm sort of just starting out compared to a lot of you guys though, so I'm content with what I've picked up for every version of these characters until something better catches my eye.
And here's the finalized display. Decided to stop being so fussy about things like 'this character wasn't on the team at the same time as this character' and try to make it a visual distillation of everything I like about the X-Men. Which basically ended up being a 97 S1 display, but that's appropriate, since it scraped away the layers of bullshit wrought by the last decade of X-Men comics and reminded me what is I loved about them to begin with.
