So this is what an "Elite Edition" is like. It must be hard to be elite.
Sasuga McFarlane Toys.

>>11930312
Mattel also hitting those hard to do desirable poses. Truly domestic toy producers have come into their own these past few years.
>>
>>11930448
So it's all just trash that anyone can buy
>>
>>11930449
Yes. I don't know why people don't resist the urge to buy figures more often and wait for quality products. These aren't necessities, so there's no need for us to rush out and buy any Clark Kent or Batman produced.
>>
Does she look tolerable to buy or too weird, DCgen? The purely painted on costume bothers me. I'm on the fence.
>>
>>11930459
youre not on the fence. youre clearly hesitating to buy it. listen to yourself and dont buy that lol

Mafex Clark and Bruce Wayne get released next month so I'll be good to go in terms of them. Plus I can't wait to throw that smiling head on my Hush Supes.
>>
>>11930459
superheroes are supposed to have painted on costumes
in the case of GLs, they're light projections too.

Like the other guy said, it's really up to you if you like it or not.
Personally, i have no problems with costumes just being paint on a nippleless, genitalless body, because that's how costumes were until the dumb XMen movie started putting them in leather.
>>
>>11930484
Why does Arisia walk around with a painted on suit over her nude body?

I'm the same. This is how they're depicted in the comic so I think it's fine.

It's the same stick figure suit legs as on the recent BaleBat Gordon or, when the Toddler made him self serving two pack. It's probably fine for a sick, unattractive aging washed up hack artist to have stick figure legs, or even for Con Job or Gordon. But it was a shitty civilian buck for Connor and it's an equally shitty body for Clark.
>>
>>11930512
It'd be fun to get a collage of all the screwed up botches McFarlane did. I liked their hits but man did they have a lot of weird choices like that headsculpt. The flames coming off the eyes just don't look right.
>>
Why waste one of the last releases on a shitty Penguin when there's already one warming digital pegs?
>>
>>11930544
Well you see, McFarlane Toys already makes the money once they sell the figures to the retailers. So they are just cashing in on that mold for one more payday, because they know BBTS and EE can't stop ordering their stuff. Really the entire system is broken due to this kind of round-about lack of a feedback method that cannot punish a company for making a figure no one wants.

Starman Jack, Power Girl, Fleischer Superman, Brandon Routh Superman, Zatanna without soft goods fishnets, Knightfall Catwoman, there are some solid figures Todd put out.

I have a bunch of stuff in storage because I'm in a cycling phase now that the blitz of final waves is winding down. I still have two Keaton and Pattinson Batmans to open and a Silver Age Superman I'm aging like a fine wine. Some perfect afternoon a few decades from now I'll crack him open just to remember what it felt like. Cyborg Superman should ship in a week or so, and he's my last DC figure from Todd I have on preorder besides the three backup Power Girls.

The first few waves get so downplayed here, like Action Comics 1000 Supes with the sculpted S is still the best version of the character they made. Speeding Bullets Superman is another weirdo risky deepcut they didn't have to make but is absolutely what people who followed the line wanted.

Maybe Absolute Superman will be my final run up the hill, and I don't even need it I just want to race against the scalpers for a McFarlane Superman one last time.

Mattel's DC Universe Classic line made C and D-List characters like Karate Kid, Sodom Kat, DeSaad, Forerger, and yes, fucking Jared's boyfriend, Starman. Their sub-lines, like the Timm DCAU that were smaller even did niche characters like those AU Justice Guardians (Green Guardsman, Black Siren, etc.) and other cartoon episode specific only characters.
Their (Mattel's biggest issue was availability and retail distribution; what's different in the last 5 years of complaints here in this gen or even on the McFarlane containment sub?

Mr. Freeze and purple Catwoman were my favorite toys as a kid. I've achieved collection nirvana, the only thing I really want now is a Phantom Lady but that'll never happen so it looks like I'm almost at the end of the road.

DCMV was an awesome line to follow. I totally passed on this guy because I didn't want to buy the BAF, but on his own I'll make an exception for my no movie villains rule for Arnie.
>>
Who are you even talking to?

The BAF was very bare plastic. This is what it should've looked like in the first place anyway. I assume a lot of people had to customize the BAF to get it to this level.

>>11931158
In that case, why not make a Dark Knight Strikes Again Batman? That will require a new mold, where as ASBAR just needs to be a repaint of any one of the hundreds of Hush Batman molds on the market. Shitty Batman comics deserve as much action figure representation as the classics.

Just fyi, I'm not Jarret or the one who deleted your posts, which is kind of wild. I'm pretty excited for the rest of the line, but with Hush, I'm already covered. I do get why they decided to make Hush Batman the premier figure though, it's pretty much tied for his most iconic look with the Neal Adams design. I am hype for that new Hal Jordan that got leaked though.

Are you guys getting nostalgic for McFarlane Toys now that we're down to the final waves? What were your favorite moments about the run? Todd rambling about how female figures don't sell, the zany hijinx about digital action figures and trying to sell NFTs, or the crazy story of the Jokers being heisted out in Mad Max fashion?
>>
>>11931910
For me it’s the backstory of the supposed heist. The leaker told us in advanced that a wave of Mcfarlane figures would never hit shelves because they were tainted then the “heist” happened. There was a thread on Reddit the following day investigating and there was NEVER a police report filed for any missing truck.
>>
>>11931910
My favorite time while collecting the stuff with Dark Knights Metal. I know the looks were goofy, but they were new and different.

In terms of their biggest contribution, I wasn't collecting much when the wired capes started to become a thing, but McFarlane (along with Jada with Bison) introduced wired soft goods to the Western market action figure lines, and while Hasbro is still too scared to take the plunge full time (though with one-offs like Max Thor), it looks like everyone else is playing ball, that being Mattel and Jada. Mattel's stuff doesn't look groundbreaking, but it looks good. Between Jada, and Mattel's MOTU and DC, there are lots of good collector's lines.

These last few waves haven't been selling out quite as fully, although who knows what that would mean for stores. They may already be gone from Walmart and Target for all I know. I prefer the preorder game but I can see why people would want the feeling of discovery of finding stuff on the shelves.

My favorite part was when the whole thread collectively turned on Todd around the Year 3 mark. Everyone was done huffing the Batman Who Keks farts and realized that Todds figures were shit. I don't know if it was some kind of collective realization that the figs were shit or the fact that he stopped doing gay flavor of the month bullshit characters and did actual wanted DC characters instead and everyone was just a filthy casual, but it was quite vindicating watching in real time as the thread turned on Todd. It was around the time he made the figure of himself that was the breaking point for a lot of folks. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see if Mattel has the same affect. Sure there are lots of people who are hyped for it now, but that was the case when the license jumped ship over to Todd too, so only time will tell.

You really are a fickle lot aren't you. Except for VF. That guy has so much sunk cost fallacy he's got to convince himself McFarlane toys are actually good lmao.

This looks so much better in hand, and has a level of quality I’ve not seen in McFarlane’s DC stuff, it is my first Elite figure so maybe that’s it. The cape is very flexible but rigid enough to hold shape. The paint detail and wear looks really, really good, the points on the spikes, the blades on the bush trimmer gauntlets. I’ll have to wait until I have Mattel’s in hand but this one wins alone for the size and the cape, Mattel’s AB cape looks like shitty cloth with flappy seams on the edges. Obviously LPZZ will blow both out most likely but I’m glad Todd did one and did it well. It’s a shame he didn’t get to Absolute Batman sooner, his Joker, Croc and Bane would have been pretty good if they were given the mega fig treatment most likely..
>>

>>11932544
For $50 it would need to be immaculately sculpted, like old mcfarlane style to justify that poor level of engineering that almost every mcfarlane carries. Just the way the joints are is innately bad as they're purely hard plastic ratchets with no friction element. And they didn't even go with their usual ball wrists and instead gave him horizontal hinges that don't complement his axe.
>>
>>11932559
Absolute Batman and Martian Manhunter are/were really good, AWW seems pretty good though I haven’t kept up with it. Batman is very much over the top but it’s to such a degree that it’s actually good and not just in a watching a train wreck sort of way. The Joker is a literal adrenochrome addict posses by a millennia’s old apokalyptian demon. The art has been consistently good if you like Dragotta’s style, it reminds me of Tim Sale meets Frank Miller with a bunch of actual good manga influences like Otomo. It’s spawned some already classic Batman moments like him punting the kid, or all of the weapons they confiscate from his body when he’s captured by Ark M (it’s implied that he has a backup axe baton kiestered at all times). Weaponized his feeding tube to acid attack and maim the Ark M doctors. Controlled demoing a skyscraper on top of Bane during their showdown. The rogues being his childhood friends works way better than it has any business to. It’s good Snyder, not Death Metal Snyder, it’s not overly convoluted or complex, it takes big swings and hits for the most part IMO. It could still jump the shark for sure, but so far it hasn’t, Batman just faced off against Joker for the first time with #25 last week and it was the most I’ve enjoyed a Batman comic since Morrison’s run. It beats the hell out of Faction’s current Batman run that is merely carrying on the shitty status quo of the last few bad runs going back to King’s abysmal run.

Isn't it crazy there was a public power play by the Rock in DC and he got almost as many ticket sales with Black Adam, a relatively lesser known character, vs James Gunn's Superman? And now they're stuck with Gunn. Todd's time was such a hectic time for DC. No wonder the line wasn't enough.

>>11932923
The Rock's problem is that he's the ultimate jock and the internet is largely made up of nerdy kids. Gunn is a weird sex-obsessed nerd like them so they like him.
Black Adam was not a great movie but Dwayne got a good angle in using Black Adam as a broad anti-hero for the DCEU to set up big superhero fights that audiences would find cool. The movie was based off the JSA Black adam stories which positioned him as less a Captain Marvel enemy and more a general menace on his own side. This was the most prosperous time for the character(who had a handful of stories before then, he had one single story in the 40's for decades before the 70's, then only like 5 between the 70's and 80's), and generally a good time for DC, before the New 52

3 or 4 installments in and there's really no great, memorable villains in any of Gunn's DCU. There's some potential in some but nothing really earth shattering. DC used to do a lot better with villains overall compared to the MCU,which really only has Loki and Thanos. Gun is drawing influence from a bunch of random DCU eras, some of which are great, but not particularly favorites with casual fans that broad audiences are.
>>
>>11933294
Seems like a lot of projection.
>>
>>11933294
>the internet is largely made up of nerdy kids.
Is this the 90s and early 00s? I mean the movies are aimed squarely at normalfags, not comic readers, so why wouldn't the Rock work as a DC film character in that case? Definitely agree that Gunn is not doing villains well though

I mean, it's more than just saying Long Halloween on the box. The head mimics Tim Sale's art. If you were particularly attached to that art style and story, I don't think it's weird to want that particular figure. Anon, you're not seeing the forest for the trees. Most people aren't buying action figures based on how many times the mold has been reused, but based on the character/costume/style of the figure. If I want a Tim Sale Batman, I'm not going to go out and buy a Jada Street Fighter figure or something just because it's a better toy. You guys who can't understand this are painfully autistic. The buck they used for this fig works fine for what it's going for. I'll never understand the contention for ,old reuse when it's reused appropriately.

>>
>>11933397
I will change up my displays if a new figure I find worth it comes out to be added. Sometimes it's a new character, sometimes it's a an update of an existing one. But usually when I find a shelf setup I like I stick to it, I've had some shelves that have been exactly the same for years, only getting taken down for dusting.

But then in that same breath I'll get into a franchise or something for a week or two and decide I want to mess with a figure from it so I'll pull one off the shelf. For example, I've been replaying the Witcher 3 since the Remaster update and it prompted me to pull my Geralt of Rivia fig off the shelf to mess with it for the first time since I got it. I do that shit all the time. But then in that same breath, I'll probably never get another Geralt because the one I have is good enough for me. Certain characters are one and done and others like Spider-Man, I'll buy toys of until I die.
>>
>>11933395
I dunno bud, it looks close enough for me that if I were to see it sitting on a shelf with zero context that I'd be able to figure out it's based on Sale's artwork. Look, I'm not defending Todd's figures or anything, I don't buy them, but this comes off as hating something just for the sake of hating it. Either that or you're legitimately so autistic that you might be face blind. Honestly, I'm leaning towards the latter.
>>
>>11933407

>>
>>11933410
The roots remember what the branches forget. Matt cannot make anything good.
>>
>>11933409
Not him but the thing is, most of us here who hate on the line actually do buy the figures. We know their flaws because we buy them. We know Todd's gotten lazy with the line and need to get some fun jabs in about the line while we pick and choose which figures aren't the most horrible stinkers to buy. Occasionally he'll even put out a good figure (ignoring the limited ratchet articulation anyway).
>>
>>11933419
McFarlane is a chad collector's line for people who like toys who look cool. Mattel is a baby time frolics line for people who want to make Batman suck his own dick.
Mattel is literally selling people mold for $100. Evil!
>>
>>11933419
>most of us here who hate on the line actually do buy the figures
lol why? I bought the AC 1000 Superman when the line first came out and immediately knew it wasn't for me. If I could get past the scaling being inconsistent with everything else I collect, I couldn't get past the terrible house style that they chose for the figures. I just hate it. So I skipped the line. How pathetic do you have to be to buy something you actively hate just because it has a DC logo on it? Like I said, that Tim Sale Batman resembles the art enough that, without context, I'd be able to figure out it's a Long Halloween Batman on my own. If you can't do that, that's on you and proves you're either a casual or you're so autistic that you're actually face blind. Also, I only read the first sentence in your post, I stopped after that because holy fuck you guys are dumb.
>>
>>11933423
Because I like the house style and don't care about the scaling. The articulation and the lazy reuse of bodies later in the line are the worst parts of the line.
>>

Seems like sunk cost fallacy to keep buying into something you actively dislike. But hey, you do you.

bucky cap was largely the same with minimal changes beyond like, head or boots. the big problem with 3 jokers/hush was the head and neck being once piece, so this an actual drastic improvement over the minor changes done to bucky cap.

which reminds me: other than removing pins, mattel in 2026 is still using sculpts from 2010 in their wwe line. the same guy is in charge of the dc line. any problems you have with wave 1 will continue until they lose the license.
>>
>>11933421
>Mattel is a baby time frolics line for people who want to make Batman suck his own dick.
well, no, since it can't even do that
>>
>>11933434
>the big problem with 3 jokers/hush was the head and neck being once piece
That is in no way the biggest issue. My issue with the buck is that it's too heavy to stay in dynamic poses, it's too big as well but that causes the heaviness, and the fact that the torso articulation is mostly useless, as are the pseudo-butterflies.
>>
>>11933438
>it's too heavy to stay in dynamic poses,
skill issue

Show me yours in a natural running forward pose with only one foot on the ground without using a flight stand.

>other than removing pins, mattel in 2026 is still using sculpts from 2010 in their wwe line. the same guy is in charge of the dc line. any problems you have with wave 1 will continue until they lose the license.

Mass produced action figures only have maybe 10 more years of viable production left, barring possible drastic economic chaos (in which case it will be shorter). So caring about whether the line can modernize its quality over time isn't really a concern, it's already a line on borrowed time.

You can already see the causes that will wind them down occurring now, including the primary audience for action figures bordering on old men--but material costs, rapidly changing economic conditions, uncertainty surrounding regulation, production costs and logistical turmoil are also going to tighten the grip and make mass produced action figures no longer profitable.

The internet is full of normies, but the people specifically complaining about movies not being "comic accurate" are total fucking nerds. For whatever reason DC sees them as a bellwether for the direction of the movies which is why they shifted to Gunn who positions himself as a big comic nerd.
Most normies found the DCEU and Black Adam inoffensive at worst. They did reasonably well enough, it's nerds who complain about them to this day. Averyone else moved on except for them and hardcore fanboys opposite of them.

6 years and many Batmen later, the only cartoon versions he made were from TAS. Hopefully Mattel will make more cartoon figures. I really wanted these three.
>>
>>11933544
The Batman and Beware the Batman look like aliens so they probably did the analysis and felt they wouldn't sell. Brave and the Bold is the only somewhat normal one. But it looks a bit too retro, like the old Scooby Doo Batman crossover shows
>>
>>11933544
The only one that really needs a fig is the 2004 one, the other two have easy stand ins

also while on the subject its super cringe seeing people say the 2004 show was actually good it was 5/10 at best. the only good part is batmans design itself
>>
>>11933561
>its super cringe seeing people say the 2004 show was actually good
It’s fine for an early 2000s reboot. It and 2003 tmnt share the same tone and always seemed like they could be in the same universe so I was forgiving for the most part. Nigger joker made me drop it at the beginning tho.
>>
>>11933561
the 2004 batman only got good for me once they started introducing the bat family, though it does have the best action scenes out of all the series. I'd give it a 7/10.

Mattel did figures for both back in the fay, and yeah they sucked because the designs just aren't great in 3D figure form. BTAS is just very aesthetically pleasing in a way other 2D animated shows since aren't. I think Teen Titans 03 would also look pretty bad despite how many people want show accurate figures of those.

I think that's more just poor implementation of articulation on The Batman figure, the 4 inch figures did a better job of translating the design.
I'd definitely want to see them take another shot at it, even if they have to rework it a little, because The Batman is easily the best Batman cartoon since BTAS.

...it's the first Batman cartoon after BTAS, anon. That's not exactly a high watermark. A more praising statement would be to say it's the best Batman cartoon after BTAS.

True, and that was essentially what I meant, but we've had BATB (which is also quite good), and Beware The Batman, which had potential but a very poor opening which led to it being cancelled, and Caped Crusader. I don't know if anyone wants to count Batman Beyond, I don't because I think it's more of its own thing.

BATB is good, no doubt, but I still don't think it's as good as The Batman. BATB was just a really polished adaptation of Silver-age Batman, but The Batman genuinely tried to do new and interesting things, and succeeded, and I think the originality counts for a lot.

Also the movie where he fights Dracula is fucking awesome.

you cannot possibly be so bad at toys that you actually use the stands
>>

>>
>>11933837
The way the symbol looks leads me to believe it's AI, but there's also a clear clamp from a figure stand around the torso, so maybe it's an AI render of an actual photo? Like they took a photo of the figure on a desk and asked the AI to render it as a promo shot without the stand or something?
