So what do you hate most, toys for kiddies or toys for normies.
>why come?
>>11931491What is that orange thing supposed to be?
>>11931645I think it's just a small explosion effect.
>>11931491Genuinely what is this shit and why did it seemingly blow up out of nowhere? I had never heard of it ever and then now see it everywhere.
>>11931645>>11931661I think so, too. It's an RPG book story character but they are turning those into a streaming show, supposedly, and it's an actual game now. There was supposed to be a comic but I checked /co/ just now and an RCO site and it doesn't look like it's been pirated?
>>11931662I feel the exact same. One of my friends became super into it out of nowhere. His wife threw him a themed birthday party for it last year and I literally had no fucking idea what it even was. I thought it was just some inside joke from their D&D group. Then all of a sudden everyone is making merch from it. Apparently it built up a big audience during the pandemic years but it's still weird to never hear of the thing until just recently.
>>11931751>His wife threw him a themed birthday partyWell what toy did you get the big guy for his Bday
The boxers look awful with those articulation cuts. The accessories look nice but with a main buck that bad....
>>11931491Is that…a toe ring on his right foot? And I know it’s just sticky-tac but it looks like he’s stepping g in a small puddle of jizz.
>>11931977That looks like museum putty. Poster adhesive is a dark gray (or blue), bluetac is 'bluer' but this putty does, yes, tend to look milky or white. But it feels and looks more like bubble gum than jizz. Just because you use your action figures as sexual aids does not mean everyone else will, son.
>>11931662>>11931666>>11931751It came out years ago; it kind of had its own following, fairly similar to Song of Ice and Fire. If anything, normies like you guys caught up now.
>>11932230I really just can't get into the whole LitRPG genre. Tried a few of them on Royal Road, but the whole video game stats thing is cringe imo.
Why does he have a toe ring
>>11932236It's not for everyone, but I notice the dnd people got into them heavily. I've only read DCC myself; I can't say I'd suggest it to everyone. As for DCC, its not for everyone. I like it, but the same way I liked Dresden Files. Pop fiction slop.>>11932242The AI has a one-way fetish for the main character's feet.
>>11931662>>11931751Same. I looked it up about a month ago. It's a web novel series that started in 2020 but got popular due to the audio book adaptation two years ago. Basically people who have jobs where they can wear headphones usually end up listening to audio books and podcasts all day. It's a sleeper fanbase.
>reddit crawler carlWesterners should have never entered the webnovel space. The days of reading my beloved mtl Chinakinos in peace are over...
It's got some interesting accessories but it's an ugly toy from the waist to the feet.
>>11932472Also, why is the fucking torso so barrel-chested? That's not how he's drawn?
>>11931666>>11931751I won't say I'm into it, but I've read the first chunk of the comic. To the end of the first floor for referenceIt's pretty easy to see how it's caught on with normalfags. It's the Solo Leveling genre of manhua pushed through a filter for western audiences, so it could come across as fresh to anyone not already familiar. That and it's full of quirky dialogue, mostly from the flavour text on achievements and equipment, and The Walking Dead tier moral dilemmas
>>11932472is it supposed to be a retro toy? How else doe they explain such shitty sculpting, pins on all the outdated joints and a face paint application+sculpt that looks like a dollar store toy??
>>11931491Toys for kiddies can sometimes be salvaged for some decent usage in my display. Toys for normies are harder to pin down: sometimes normie interests get good stuff, sometimes it's just suitable, and sometimes it's cheap crap.Like, Superheroes and movies and star wars are all kiddie *and* normie and sometimes those toys rock.
I'm a DCC fan and I even ended up grabbing the "rare" comic variants at SDCC and NYCC.But that action figure is so dogshit that I'll genuinely just wait for the Chinese to see the financial opportunity and make an unlicensed better version of it.
>>11932527>How else doe they explainPlaymates. Theyre still some years behind.
>>11932475The design is based on the book cover art. The comic is from a Korean webtoon artist. The figure is far more accurate to his intended book description. He's 27, former Coast Guard mechanic. Not out of shape, but not super fit either.>>11931491The final figure lost the explosion and some of the paint on the glove, knee pads >>11931662The series was sold off for licensing rights to a major, aggressive publisher so that's why there's been a big push in the last year
So Carl comes with a Gold or Silver toe ring. A case of 4 Carl are 50/50 ratio split. Mordecai has a black shirt with red tie and the variant is red shirt with black tie. Prepotente doesn't seem to have a variant so far. GameStop is the cheapest at $29.99, Walmart is $34.98, and Spencers is $39.99. Are they worth it? I mean I bought them but I've been listening to the books in the car for weeks. They are fun. It's not Discworld or Hitchhikers Guide. It's better than John Does at the End. It's captures a zeitgeist of the moment for people from the late 80s to early 00s if you enjoyed Archer or that fantasy show from the Simpsons creator on streaming or even Ugly Americans
>>11932535>sometimes normie interests get good stuff, sometimes it's just suitable, and sometimes it's cheap crap. Not to go NECA Anon on everybody but that sounds like a lot of NECA horror. The Playmates Sinpsons at least can come with interesting stuff like the sofa couch gag playset but other they are overpriced 5poa. Abd there's even worse normie crap.
>>11932662I kinda want one of those skibidi camera dudes but not enough to spend 20 bucks on one
This shit is for legitimate retards
>>11931662yeah i went to dragon con and it was fucking EVERYWHERE
>>11932751Those were also dirt cheap at Target AND at Ross. They actually articulate well but the tv set lady is better. They are also midget figures.5 inches I think?
>>11932266I found all the books on line on a pirate site so I downloaded, it was a bit of a slog to get through the early part of it but I can see the appeal. I'm on the third book but if I hadn't come down with a cold and the big read comics online site hadn't gone down, I would probably be reading graphic novels in bed, instead of this.
