Hey everyone, it's that time of year again. November 1st means it's secret santa time on /toy/!Sign ups end November 8th.Like last year, import shipping prices are still high, so when making your list keep that in mind if you want to ask for imports.Sign up form: https://forms.gle/rN1TdfwonspL5BWx5My email: toysecretsanta2026@gmail.comFAQ: https://pastebin.com/jA4SUZUQ
Glad to be back for another year! This one was tough but the light is at the end of the tunnel. University Graduation is December 16th and I joined a Model Train Club!
This rotten board doesn't deserve any kindness. Horrible, monstrous assholes infest every part of it.
>>11933138Not sure I'll be able to take part this year but I'm glad you're still running these Santa Man, hope this year has been good to you.
This is my first time doing this, is it okay to include a catbox link of relevant stuff in our collection to avoid receiving duplicates of items we already own?
>>11933138>import shipping pricesPeople should be aware that shipping prices are higher even within the continental US. The post office has raised prices twice this year alone and we're currently "enjoying" a special, allegedly temporary price increase through the holidays (e.g. NYE) that started in October. They also raised the "bin" rate - which is why even if the toys are not heavy but you need to pack them in a big box you get "raped" as some folks called it last year. Even using Pirate Shipping (which I do recommend for everyone) will cost more, period.
>>11933435Welcome. You send in a request which is an enail. Almost everyone will list specific things: For example, a Nendoroid of say Super Mario or the Blokees Marvel Rivals of Venom, both of which are in the target price range for this activity ($40, which could be hit with two items or one). Presumably, you do not own these. Last year, my Secret Santa wanted Mythic Legion and also listed some very specific import model kits, without specifically saying, I already own this orc or this other ML figure and don't want another. You have to remember that whatever you sent is possibly going to be edited down and sent in an email to someone else. So a cat box link isn't a great idea. It's best to be real specific: a Super 7 ultimate GI Joe Classified of Duke or Flint; a NECA Vincent Price horror, Phantom of the Opera, Mummy, etc.; a Mattel Dream Date Skeletor. Pick things which you can search for and find for sale today. In other words, as much as I want a Diamond Select Iron Giant, which had a $29.99 MSRP, no one is going to find one at anything other than some scslpers absurd price. And don't expect people will be generous or have the time to hit comic shops or toy flea markets before early December just to chase something like that down. Good luck and have fun.
>>11933505Makes sense, guess I should have thought the logistics out more. I was just thinking of it because the line I collect has lots of cheap small items and very similar items. Thanks for the warm welcome!
>>11933516I always put 1-2 things I would never buy for myself at the MSRP but would be 'nice' to have. It might be something you don't already 'collect.' Anything that will ship by early December is fair game. You can say, for example, TMNT but Super 7 or NECA, not Playmates if you were concerned about inexpensive version. That said, people do list other things that they are interested in, and some anons will toss in small blind box or vinyl or key chain type pieces as stocking stuffers, together with say hot cocoa. I would be happy to get something like dice or playing cards or a coffee mug but unless someone wrote that they are open to that, I stick to their snack preference and toy version of their likes. Definitely look at old threads to see what people gave last year or the year before.
Let's go! Thanks for stepping up one more year Santa, got in this time- ON TIME! Like always, I can do an additional box if someone gets left in the lurch.>buffalo?
Not going to participate, but cool you all do this. Cheers!
>>11933138>https://forms.gleI remember I signed up without having a gmail account and I know I got my sign up and everything at my regular (non-google) email. Did this change?Or did I create a throwaway account and need to repeat that? Does anyone else remember/know?>>11933583Several other boards do.Some just exchange Christmas cards. For some anons, especially if they aren't near family, it's something.
I fart in the boxes I send out
We're also be due some late reports from last year /toy/ SS on the 30th.Believe there was a grinched anon, one with import issues, and maybe one more? Mine arrived on the 29th and my pictures are three of the last posts, but who knows if anyone saw them since the thread fell off the board the same day?But Illinois anon, thanks again!
Nice to see you're still keeping the tradition alive, I won't be participating due to the awful nature of this board this year, but I hope you don't get any grinches.
>>11933656I give a big kiss to every figure box, riiight on the plastic seal.
I haven’t been on this board in ages, has it really been that bad this year? Surprised to see people being negative right away in the Santa thread of all places, so I’m guessing people really have been shitty here this year?
>>11933681People always go doomer mode in these threads, mostly trying to spoil the fun. The actual exchanges rarely go bad. There are a handful of shitters on the board as a whole, but it isn't really any worse than it has been for years.
>>11933681>>11933689It feels like there's more trolling going on, less 'fun' shit posting. The actual impact of the tariffs was possibly felt more, and the general economy probably doesn't help. And yeah, it really feels like GENs that used to be free of a lot of that negativity are filled quickly, with low-effort, poor quality posts, mostly. It's like an AI that's been given a homework quota to meet before it can get it's next bowl of nutritious delicious ice cold bowl of data to trawl or whatever would make a machine intelligence get erect.
>>11933681I won't lie, I come in here every year and say the same thing about the shit heads on this board not deserving s Christmas present, but this year, as others have stated, does feel worse than previous ones. It's probably due to tariffs and price increases and what not pricing a lot of people out of the hobby so they just go out of their way to make everyone else miserable too. Also traffic to 4chan in general has plummeted since the hack last year. We're back to pre 2016 levels of posting and it shows. The more vocal shitposters are louder than ever and it does seem like there are more and more bots posting. Like look at the thread "When did it precieved Chinese companies make better toys" or the "Why come DC don't make good toys" threads. I am genuinely curious to see the turnout compared to previous years though. It's kind of a decent gauge on how truly active this place still is.
>>11933772Didn't SantaMan say participation numbers were slightly down last year from the year before? And wasn't that the case, as well, for 2024?
>>11933435Yes that's fine but add it along with your list of 5 items or interests with a toy line. Don't have the link be your list substitute just an aid so when your Santa decides on what to get you they can check the list real quick to see if you have it already.>>11933467You're right, I should have double checked this knowing the gas price increases aren't changing for the inevitable future. https://about.usps.com/newsroom/national-releases/2026/0825-usps-announces-temporary-price-change-for-2026-holiday-shipping-season.htmEveryone should look over this link. The zones here refer to distance. If you're shipping across the country you're in zone 5-9, while shipping closer puts you in zone 1-4. The higher the zone, the bigger the price penalty. I'm going to see if I can pair people within zone 1-4 when shipping domestic in the US as best I can to try and compensate. For anyone that wants someone paired with you from far away and you want to eat the cost for the sake of variety let me know via email, otherwise I'm going to try and save everyone a little bit of money if I can.>>11933642You need to log in with a google account so you can upload a proof of address. The email you put in the email section can be anything. I recommend using whichever email you check regularly.>>11933801There really isn't a decrease. Compared to the one year where we had over 40 people sign up, each year is about 30 or so people, sometimes 28 or 29 but never lower than that. We'll see what happens this year.
>tfw woke up Canadian this year tooMmm don't like that
Just so happens that John Bandai has blessed me with a Gundam Base and a Bandai store. Furthermore, Big Bad opened a retail store down the road. Suffice to say, this may be one of the easiest Santa's depending on what my anon wants
>>11933893>gunplaOh BOY!!! I hope it's me!
>>11933681We have a rogue mod that's made things pretty dangerous

>>11933833It should only suck a little longer friend. I hate that it's true, but you are still better off except for the chill.

>>11933183That’s not true, don’t say that. Have some pre-Holiday cheer.
>>11933819>so you can upload a proof of addressThanks. I found my old forms and can see what I did. If my address hasn't changed since I signed up the first two (2024), so you still want proof of address? And yes - thanks again for doing this, I know it's a pain to moderate boards and generally finagle strangers, or be responsible for things like this, so much appreciated by me as well!
>>11934193If you've signed up before in the past you can just reuse the same proof of address if you haven't moved.
