It is officially Legionscon Weekend, and as such, the MFG will undergo a more Legions specific format to celebrate the biggest fantasy figure focused meet up event of the year!

The festivities officially started today with their annual Intern of a Day event.

But the real fun starts Friday as they stream their annual Gcon live reveals of their next wave, the Scarlet Abyss! The show starts at 10am EST on Youtube and runs until 2pm, where they’ll show off not just this new wave, but tease future releases as well. The pre-order for the new wave starts after the show at 5pm EST.

On Saturday, the main event begins and Legionscon 26 opens it’s doors, featuring two full days of all things Legions, an army of independent and small batch toy producers, and more exclusives then you can shake a stick at!

The current Exclusives for the event are:

>The Legends of Camelot King Arthur w/ exclusive Sir Bedivere head, sword and shield

>Legends of Camelot Merlin w/ exclusive Demon Form Head and parts

>Necropolis Draugerherdd w/ Gorgo Helm and Flaming Skull exclusive

>Necropolis Ghost Elves w/ Lucretia and Gryshaa exclusive heads

>Armory Experience Dwarves and Goblins

They’ll also have a stock of previous event exclusives, including the Legendary Warrior touring figure and the SDCC Cursed Templar and of course the always interesting surprise “Table Drop” figure. Just getting one of each exclusive offered at this event is enough to eat through most budgets, but all figures offered at the show will see online versions released later next year as usual.

So are you excited for the new reveals? Are you itching to get your hands on some of the new exclusives? Are you expecting them to debut a brand new dragon? Let us know, share your thoughts and post some pics…

And remember, Don't Feed the Troll!

Would it be possible for a quick rundown for what to expect Saturday morning? So you line up at the booth to get the show exclusives and then do you need another line for store stock or the Legion Builders? Are there limits to how many times you can do the Legion Builders line after you get your one?

Don't be sorry. You revealed that op is more concerned about himself and appearances than community, be proud!

OP here, I wasn't the one posting those pics. I mainly focus on 4H stuff and companies like Savage Crucible and other NA companies. The dude posting the other stuff is just a (very helpful) member of the community.

But thanks for posting, though I don't know why you'd want to be a dick like that.

I'm not going, and I doubt I ever will any time soon; but if I was going I'd made a few heavy armored dwarfs with the gold and black, and take the goblin heads to put on other bodies.

Do you think any of the exclusive Camelot ones will be offered online after the sale? I know regular versions will. I was going to go to the show but had a medical episode last month and I can’t drive or take a plane at the moment. I was looking at maybe taking a train that way but the weekend passes are sold out now.

I was planning to go this year but a double whammy of a bad cold and a surprise car bill pretty much killed any of my plans for the weekend. Fortunately I don't really care about any of the exclusive parts so I can wait for the general release for all the released figures.

That said, they are planning to release ALL the Armory builds this year, so no exclusive part bullcrap where you can't get your hands on the good pieces. So you can still pick up your heavy Dwarf and Flock Goblin when they eventually go on sale.

Try and get in touch with the store Gingerkid Collectibles, they offer a figure pick up service for up to like two figures from the con. You pay an extra $20 (not sure if that's total or per figure) and shipping, but it's a good way to get the con exclusives without being there. There might be left overs thrown up on the store at some point and BBTS usually gets a stock of the exclusives as well, but the 4H stock goes fast and BBTS upsells em for $20+ anyway. I used em last year to get a Valgard and Wraith set and I had no issues. Contact em through their store, Insta, Facebook or whatever else you prefer and they should let you know how the service works.

>>11935840
OP here, no worries anon, we usually get weird random trolls after a new post. Don't take anything they say seriously and keep posting pics! I don't know about anyone else, but I have trouble keeping up with the chinese releases so it's nice having someone on top of things from the east.
>>
>>11935938
Also, the new wave certainly looks interesting, and heads the story into an entirely new direction. I haven't been this tempted to go all in since the Rising Sons wave as this one instantly brings in two new factions and themes to a collection, with not only a brand new figure scale in their giant Bruise figure, but a brand new mount body as well. I'll try and update the thread later but I just got home and need to run some errands. I'll update the thread when I get back with whatever news they drop with the rest of the time left over in their stream.
>>
>>11935947
Yeah, the griffin is a must. From that point on it's a matter of tastes and choices, but I like the Greek heroes, the cyclops is tempting (I've got the previous cyclops so it would be a matter of willing to upgrade), and the Chinese-Western vampires are interesting.
I'm looking at them at instagram, but I'll take a better look when the pics are uploaded to the site because I don't want to bother downloading from insta.
>>
>>11935947
So just some quick updates while I can:

Shipping in 2027 - Beyithyrr, Reign of Beast, Horror of Einsamall, Dawns of Discovery, Comic Character Packs, Cosmic Mortal Thorn, Armory Gladiators, Reinforcements 3, Legacies 3, the RPG wave and their first book.

They're looking to somehow mass produce the display stand rock that Beyithyrr uses in his promos. They'll also have a fully finished production version at the show for people to mess around with.

The first volumes of the Cosmic Legions Comic book will also be at the show for people to read, though I don't think it will be for sale just yet. The Mythic Book is also in production with an early sample on hand.

They plan to expand past action figures, books and table top RPGs with an expansion into plush versions of specific characters. So far the furry dude from the latest Cosmic Wave, Swigg the Goblin and Thistlethorn have been planned.

In that same vein, discussion and planning into making Legions based Fashion dolls is a thing and was surprisingly a pretty popular idea.

The next Infinite Legions collab will be with Attack Peter of Mondo studios and will be creating his original Kaiju Takoro.

They also announced that they will officially be releasing Mythic compatible, Figura Obscuras of Lord of the Rings characters. They will be original designed based heavily on the book descriptions and not the film variants.
>>
>>11935980
I'm pretty much all in on this one, the price and the savings are both pretty decent and the offerings are fantastic. It's pretty much two entirely new factions released together. That said, I'm honestly almost upset none of these figures flesh out Beyithirr's faction at all. The greek guys are great and everything, but they could have easily been rolled into being followers of big Bey. As of now they only members in his group are all bundled with his release and it would've been nice to have had some figures to add to his ranks, even if they wouldn't be released until a year later.
>>
It would be funny if they made a Figura Obscura of a traditional Chinese vampire to contrast to these Scarlet Abyss wave ones. That said, considering that a bunch of boomer fans had no idea of who Sun Wukong was, that would be even more obscure for them.

File: AJJAX THE VOYAGER..jpg (2.31 MB, 2776x4784)
2.31 MB JPG
Ok, finally got a chance to compile some pics and get more info on these guys.

First up is the captain from the crew from last year's wave Ajjax. It's a neat figure that helps connect this wave and it's story with last year's pirates in a way they don't normally try to do.

He uses the newer 3.0 build with all sorts of newer articulation, but it fully compatible with most of the 1.0 stuff. A lot of part reuse, but mostly rarer or newer bits so he don't feel overused, and the new stuff helps brings it all together.
>>
File: VESPYX.jpg (1.82 MB, 2696x4936)
1.82 MB JPG
>>11936114
Next up is their Monster Figure of the wave, the giant man bat Vespx. New armor, weapons and wing parts hide the fact that this is mostly the rat/gnole build. but he also has a new, wider torso (iirc) to make him look more imposing.
>>
File: WEI DRAKKOSYR.jpg (2.41 MB, 2656x5152)
2.41 MB JPG
>>11936116
Next up is the very fancy member of the newest faction introduced in this wave, a Wu-Shu Vampire Prince, Wei Drakkosyr. When they first revealed that faction logo all those years ago with Raygor, I don't think anyone expected it to be made up of guys like this. Probably one of their fancier looking figures, but I think it's mostly that this shade of bright blood red just makes him pop. He also has a really nice bird.
>>
File: JUN DRAKKOSYR..jpg (2.83 MB, 2552x5112)
2.83 MB JPG
>>11936129
And here is his little sister, the Bloodmage Jun Drakkosyr. A full 2.0 female figure, she's actually not in the same faction as her brother and the bat dude, instead she's a member of the same faction as the other chick who came with the little chinese dragon. That faction worships one of the "Pillars" of the world, who were all previously thought to be different Dragons but the 4H officially retconned that notion today saying not all the Pillars are dragons....however it's pretty clear Arezzius, the guy these ladies follow....is gonna be a Dragon.

>>
File: LIAO BLUDDSPEL.jpg (2.88 MB, 2680x5144)
2.88 MB JPG
>>11936137
The next reveal was this wave Imp figure, a Kobold mage Liao Bluddspel. The Imp scale are smaller then Dwarves and Goblins, but actually have more articulation with double jointed knees and possibly butterfly shoulders (iirc, I could be wrong). This little lizard man also includes a Snake Soldier alt helmet to be used as a tiny army builder.
>>
File: STEROPES.jpg (2.65 MB, 2736x5072)
2.65 MB JPG
>>11936140
From the smallest in the wave to the largest, and a brand new build class officially dubbed Bruiser Scale and one of the tallest sized figures second only to the older Trolls (and standing bears technically) but with FAR more articulation, the giant Cyclops Steropes. Just as flexible as any of the 3.0 build figures but at twice the height, this beast makes even the Ogre figures look tiny.

Though the troll still reigns supreme size and bulk wise, they are very much statues in comparison. But the 4H did hint that the Troll size class may possibly see an update at some point in the future.
>>
>>11936145
Now who better to go up against a bunch of Wu-Shu Vampires with Kobold minions....then a bunch of Greeks! Representing a brand new faction, the Phaethenian Empire, is the hero Callius the Immortal. Rocking the newer 3.0 articulation, this guy comes a variety of different helmets and heads to serve as his own army builder (and no, none of them are the one from the Medusa statue).

....personally, I don't get it, I feel this wave would've been better if the rival faction served big Bey, as he could use more members in his group, but I guess rule-of-cool wins again, and this dude IS pretty cool.
>>
File: CALLIUS THE IMMORTAL..jpg (2.37 MB, 2608x5104)
2.37 MB JPG
.....and the picture didn't attach to my post. I swear, this site is going down hill fast.

Regardless, I do love that he comes with a new xiphos, it's a neat little touch.
>>
Weird how a bunch of figure makers are all doing Chinese vampires at the same time. That phenomenon always puzzles me.
>>
File: HYMNIA.jpg (2.01 MB, 2656x4944)
2.01 MB JPG
>>11936153
And next up is Callius again....but as a GIRL!!!! Hymnia is a 1.0 Female build with pretty much the exact same look and loadout as the previous reveal. I mean, it is cool to get new thick muscle(ish) girls, but I do wish they did something to make her feel a bit more unique and help counteract the fact that she still has that outdated 1.0 articulation. I feel this figure would've been the perfect chance to release a new Bow weapon, as the line *really* needs a new bow mold, but she just has all the same gear as the other guy.

....hopefully they release some sort of Legion Builder with the greek mold, because between the two of them I'll have a lot of extra heads that need bodies and I am NOT buying multiples of these guys at full price.
>>
File: SKIRON.jpg (1.27 MB, 2800x3784)
1.27 MB JPG
>>11936160
And to round out the wave, they're introducing a brand new mount build and the line's first Griffon, Skiron. This figure alone looks really impressive and those wings are a MASSIVE improvement over their old, flat feathered wings from the Gothtropolis releases. This body also allows for the possibility of all sorts of new beastial mounts, from lions and wolves, to the very specifically teased Manticore pet of Arkhan the Cruel. A gorgeous beast to add to any collection and I'm sure it'll be glorious to see a heroic figure riding it into epic battle!

So that's the wave, Wu Shu Vampires vs Greeks with a random pirate thrown in the mix. Not a bad wave, the two factions do match themselves pretty closely....even though they're not all in the same faction within their factions.

It's certainly an interesting wave, the new Vampire faction just looks amazing in their brilliant red armors (also note, the big werewolf from the Horror wave was retroactively added to this faction as well) but the Greek stuff just isn't hitting the same buttons for me. It's a cool concept, but the two main figures look far too similar and far more dull in comparison. The two monsters of the wave though are stealing the show, and making the whole set worth grabbing.

Also, that pirate guy is there.

After mathing it out, the All in is still a discount, but really just *barely*. The $150 savings they tout is in comparison to the retail prices, not the current pre-order price total.
>>
>>11936013
It genuinely boggles my mind that so many "fantasy fans" were so completely unaware of one of the most well known fantasy story of all time. Like how do you read any kind of literature and NOT at least learn tangentially about Journey to the West?

>>11936139
So they never specified that this new faction and race is actually "evil". They don't feed off of blood like the more traditional vampires from the Mythos side of the story, rather they feed off of "life energy", but they didn't go into detail on how they acquire it. They also make it clear that these guys are more civil and can deal, and trade and co-exist with other races and factions. So they're not wantonly evil like the bad guys from Mythos....but they do seem angry.

>>11936159
It's always strange when it happens but 9 times out of 10 it comes down to pure coincidence more then anything else. But yea, it's always weird when multiple companies drop similar figures at the same time.
>>
>>11936153
the double joints don't seem to add anything and only limit parts swapping
>>
>>11936180
Honestly, I wholeheartedly agree with this, especially the elbows. They're not nearly as bad as some other brands (savage crucible's weird bean elbows for one) but I don't think they're AS needed after they updated the sculpt on the new bare and armored arms. A good, deep single elbow will ALWAYS look better then a double joint in my mind. I hate that it's such a big thing with the future figures, as it'll just make them stand out even more against older releases.

>A good, deep single elbow will ALWAYS look better then a double joint in my mind
I largely agree, but I do think that some new joints being done in China look even better to me or at least look excellent and have amazing range. This is my Morfig figure by Inart's joint which I think is sculpted really nicely, probably my favourite looking elbow. Sexy Ice do them really well too. (Third time's the charm hopefully.)

>A good, deep single elbow will ALWAYS look better then a double joint in my mind.
Do you have an example of a good one? Just thinking domestics, I'm thinking some of the new Black Series ones that get some solid range, something like 120 degrees, but then at neutral there's a giant bar going through the arm to allow that to happen. I'm sure there are some good ones out there, but just can't think of it. I never mind the look of double joints (unless implemented absolutely terribly, but then I'd question their ability to do a single well also) because it means the figure should get good range of movement, while if it's a solid looking single, it'll still get at most single jointed range, I wouldn't expect anything more than that 120 usually, which should normally be more than enough though. Of course, that assumes that it functions as it should, and it does appear that these ones may not function as well as they should. The Mythic Legions ones will release soon, and we'll be able to see them in action as a production figure.

It’s hilarious, all the Ching Chongs making vampires, tiger or griffin figures and those companies making those gladiator chicks are on suicide watch.

Oh wow! The Manglors and Mordles are coming to Infinite Legions. That’s wild, they probably had to save the big announcement for LOTR.
>>
First impressions, pending knowing the local retail prices:

The griffin is a must. It looks great and it is a griffin. I had the D20 one preordered, which is said to have been canceled, so this is it. Unless Fish Toys or Nottaa have something to say in the next weeks, the 4H are taking my money. Great figure.

The vampires, I don't quite strictly need Western-type vampires in Chinese aesthetics as a wanted archetype, but they look great and the girl is cute, so I'm likely getting both as a result. Since they wear some armor, It would be nice if they included some stylish helmets, but I guess they can work without them.

I initially liked the Greek heroes and thought I'd buy both. I love the classic face and style on the guy and I think their overall look works great as fantasy heroes and puts any concerns of historical accuracy away, much like generic fantasy knights. But damn, the guy's chest looks so narrow in relation to his limbs. Dude almost looks like a cartoonish, comically roided-up woman, even more so with the skirt. His thighs and hips have so much more visual weight than his torso. I have no problem with the girl, and I'm now leaning towards just getting her and waiting for other brands to make a guy like this.

The cyclops is a nice body and I definitely want one of this type at some point, but I'd prefer him to wear more crude gear instead of the highly refined gear he's got. I prefer Argemedes' look and I won't replace him. I'm waiting for other figures in this body that I may like better.

Imp dragon is nice, but when one has to pick and choose, I'm not that interested in this guy.

Ornate Persian pirate hero guy, I don't need him or have a particular interest on him.

I think the bat dude looks kind of lame and dumb with those wings on his foreams. Almost look like a gadget even though apparently they are supposed to be hims. I respect his overall look, but the wing idea doesn't work for me at all.

>>11936159
Which others are you thinking of?
>>
>>11936335
>Which others are you thinking of?
NtA, but Mezco just put a traditional Jiangshi up for preorder, I can think of at least one female figure modeled on them.
>>
The double joints look like they work pretty well. I don't think they look badly implemented either, though, for the purposes of Legions, they are losing that arm modularity, so idk if they could have implemented in a way that preserves that.

Idk about this one... it's just sticking out from the upper arm. I'm sure there are some better integrated than this.
>>
>>11936388
This body looks really good, and I'm impressed with some of the range of that articulation, especially the torso. Definitely want to grab one to give it a go once they release en masse.
>>
>>11936137
Absolutely gorgeous.
>>
>>11936114
Do these guys also do accessory packs? No interest in most of the figures but wouldn't object to shields and weapons.
>>
>>11936261
The Valiant Knight build Mythic Legions are a good example, with even just a single joint has nearly the same range as the Savage Crucible bean elbows. The Heroic Signature Black Stone Conan has some fantastic range, though admittedly his forearms have an *awful* sculpt. But the range is there and the sculpt could easily be improved, showing it's not the joint itself that's the problem. Frazetta Girls Dark Wolf also has a decent bend while still maintaining a fantastic sculpt. I don't need my figures to have a full, flush, completely bend arm fold where the forearm and bicep line up perfectly parallel to each other, I'm happy if I can a nice deep V bend out of an arm. And that range of bend is still doable with a single joint that doesn't completely destroy the sculpt.

>>11936331
>>11936388
Huh, that's what that is. No wonder why I never heard of it. Easy pass for me, but cool concept for those who are fans.

>>11936460
They've done em in the past and will occasionally drop em within waves, but it's not consistent and something they've been doing less of. They do currently have the Knight weapon pack on their official shop right now (two shields, spear, mace/hammer, sword and dagger w/scabbards) and the magic caster set (multiple staves, books and decorations) and if you tried you could probably find the recently released Barbarian and Dwarf packs floating about. Honestly, with all the new gear, I'm surprised they didn't include some weapon sets in this wave.

>>11936335
I'm pushing towards going all in myself, but if I do, the Cyclops and Pirate will just be grouped with the two Greeks in one big faction as they all have similar stylings. I will say I do agree that the male greek's chest looks WAY too slender though, like the armor is painted on instead of actually being something he wears. It's not enough to turn me off the figure entirely, but it is something that makes him look worse then he really should.
>>
So tangentially related question for people here.

Since I started collecting this line, I've more or less kept track of what I've bought and organized them by (fan made) factions using a Google Docs page. But after ten years of collecting, a single long list of these guys, and their preferred accessories, is getting a bit unmanageable. Other then Excel, which I have no expeirnece or knowledge how to use properly, anyone have any good suggestions of a resource to keep a text based, organized accounting of a collection? Ideally something that would let me sort figures by their factions and let me compare each group or something.

And in completely unrelated news, the Legionscon Table Drop this year was Sir Galeron v2. The original was released all the way back during the debut Kickstarter Wave of Mythic Legions and this updated version actually goes back and reuses that original torso and pauldrons combo, but with the far superior Valiant Knight arms and legs, keeping him right in line with the current standard of articulation. He also features updated Knight Accessories, including a dagger with scabbard, the new knight axe and spear and the giant shield. But more impressive is the not one, but *three* new headsculpts he comes with, including a brand new bucket and two new unmasked heads. While he's a Legionscon release, he is not a Legionscon exclusive and he will be available online for general purchase with all accessories later this/next year.

Frazetta Girls also showed off a few cool things. First, again sorry I know it's not really fantasy, but I already pushed her into these threads a while back, so I'm gonna be cheeky. Articulated prototype, sounded like still a early one, she is much more articulated. Diaphragm and waist balls, double knee and elbows, butterflies and toe hinges. I am excited for this one. FG figures are my guilty pleasure.

They are potentially doing the chained snake for Conan! They are taking feedback if any of you care to give it and also on Sara's stream she mentioned the possibility of more Frazetta animals if people want them.

I got a screen grab from the stream for Death Dealer's horse, it looks massive. Eamon isn't sure whether they'll sell it separately, just as a two pack or both yet and wants to hear how much demand there is for it on its own. Sara held DD's axe up to the camera and the blood looked really nice on it, I decided to gamble on their one over the SC one (which looks great) so I've got my finger's crossed.

I know I've said it before but it's something I honestly believe, we are living through the golden age of fantasy action figures. One company dropping all these awesome things was bad enough, but we have like a half dozen, if not more, with constant, consistent output of amazing figure after amazing figure.

I'll probably grab one or two, depending on the price, but I honestly feel the 4H still put out the best knights. The Valiant Knight figures aren't exactly perfect, but something about them just looks and feels far better then most of the competition's offerings. Again, will still get em from all the various companies, but the Legions are easily my favorite knights.
>>
Oh they also confirmed Tars Tarkas and that the Fire & Ice line is going to be a long one covering basically every character.

Where are they taking feedback? I'm one of those weirdos who rarely leaves 4chan

> we are living through the golden age of fantasy action figures
Totally agree and I think just figures in general. I know these are American companies here, but I think China is revolutionising the industry and introducing a totally new level, it's having an holistic impact of the whole field. We've seen Mafex applying Chinese style articulation on their upcoming Daredevil an Punisher, Wonderfest exponentially increasing each year and even McFarlane has employed a Chinese designer who has made a pinless, Chinese joint styled Spawn. Kaiyodo started it and they've just picked up the ball and run. I also think it has created some incredibly talented factories that can now make really high spec, highly paint detailed figures that it is benefiting everyone.

It's almost overwhelming how much amazing stuff is coming out, but I am sort of in that gold rush, hoard it now mindset because I have no idea how long it will last and stuff like this rarely does, it tends to peak and then degrade.

You can probably just leave comments on their youtube pages, Instagram, Twitter etc. I assume. I guess you could even email them I imagine if you care enough, but it was the usual "let us know what you want guys!" without actually telling anyone how.

Sorry I should have added, search Frazetta Girls on youtube and check their latest live stream VOD from earlier today, you can probably just leave a comment there on what you want.

Yeah it just dawned on me, I'm pretty sure it's Beowulf and Grendel because these Grendel's ripped arms right? Beowulf tears one off.

Time to go back to the books I was reading then stopped for a while.

I guess I should have expected that Fafhrd would be a handsome lad, but he somehow seems more so. Gray Mouser I for some reason expected him to be blond with more boyish looks. If their appearances were ever described it I missed it because my local library only had books 4 onward so I missed their origins. Both look really good though, I feel the need the collect these classic fantasy novel characters, so I'll keep it up at this point. Anything else I'm unfamiliar with, more Moorcock I'm excited for.

Okay Anon who was regretting missing out on the Souls stuff and Onion Knight, you have a brief chance. He's on pre-order at Fishy Mist limited to 100 so go go go if you do want him.

I hope you see this thread in time, Anon. Just remember, I think this guy is sort of a customiser and he 3D prints a lot of the parts, so have expectations of it being more fragile.

None of the other Conan stuff looks particularly good (based on the pics we've seen so far), maybe the Elephant, but this guy looks incredible. A lot of Boss Fight stuff seems to unfortunately fall flat, but hopefully this one is a winner.

Haxan House The Dark, which had appeared in previous cons, is planning for a February Backerkit (which I guess it is a thing, making straight up a Backerkit campaign without going through Kickstarter?).
First wave would be demons.
I like the crude look. Does remind of folklore drawings and statues.

About fucking time, though I'm far more interested in the witches and ghost than I am the demons.
