What's worth visiting in Ireland? I want to see some old Irish castles and visit the Tullamore Dew distillery. Any other recommendations?
Craggy Island
>>2873843The highlight of Ireland is the people, not the sights.
>>2873843i have an old castle in ireland but it isn't much these days.
>>2873843Tullamore Dew of all the distilleries? OK then...For castles there's Trim, Kilkenny, Bunratty, Blarney and a bunch in around Dublin which are less important. Apart from that the standard sights you'll see recommended anywhere and maybe since you're looking at castles you might as well look at round towers and abbeys.
Some of the country estates are nice. Mount Juliet and Adare, stuff like that.
>>2873982Tully is my all time favorite whiskey, fight me.
>>2874121If you insist
>>2873843I'm Irish, I'd recommend going to Kilkenny if you like castles or anything, you can get some nice lunch and sit in the park then get a tour inside. You can get the train from tullamore but it requires a change and it's pretty bad public transport desu.
>>2873843Glendalough is nice, though it isn't specially impressive either. I liked Dublin in general.
>>2873878>The highlight of Ireland is the peopleWhere is the best spot to look at people in Ireland?
>>2873843Old castles and some 19th century pubs are about it really. One of the shittier parts about being a farming colony for the better part of 900 years is that you don't have a lot of social development or monumental structures.
>>2877124The horse track
>>2877144Tell me more about the horse track. What can I expect to find there?
>>2880000nice
>>2873843Kinsale>>2873878>this poster is confirmed UK oppressor
>>2873843Go to Kerry if you want nature. Skip Limerick if you're looking at the largest cities, nothing worthwhile goes on there. Galway has lots of trad music and Irish culture, but it's turned up to a degree that almost feels like a theme park for Americans rather than an authentic experience. Dublin has a day's worth of things to do, but the amount of immigrants and foreigners makes is hard to enjoy.>>2880325>KinsaleTo elaborate, there are two forts: James Fort (small ruin and free. Might be closed but you can climb in) and Charles Fort (paid and a proper exhibit). Small seaside town. Would recommend if you're near.If you're in county Cork, visit Cork City, Blarney castle, Cobh, and the old brewery in Midleton (for Jameson whiskey) if you so desire another brewery.
ireland seems like comfy road trip sightseeing - lots of cool not specifically famous things to see that you would go to if you were in the area but not travelling to the country with it as a must visit
>>2873843I had one of the best times of my life in Dingle peninsula. Lots of old stuff, including bronze age ruins, down there. Small cozy vibes. Friendly people. It's in the Gaeltacht but only heard Irish once maybe twice, which is sad. The real problem with Ireland is how damn expensive it is. For me, I would only stick to the small rural soulful places. Truthfully places like Cork or Dublin really just feel like the UK and aren't magically different somehow. Great Blasket Island also looks cool.
>>2873878this basically, if you really want to see castles and manors you should go to france or germany
>>2873943Hi Enya, big fan
>>2873843I went there a few years back. I personally liked Giant's Causeway and St Patrick's Rock.
>>2881857I don't have enough money to travel right now so I'll probably skip it anyway. Thanks for the info.
What's a cheaper city to live in if an American immigrates to Ireland? Cork, Waterford, or Limerick?
>>2880000Horses.
>>2885944You’re not going to be able to immigrate there.
Look at this X account.https://x.com/Portach333?lang=en
>>2885944I'd avoid Limerick if I were you. All are equally cheap by American standards the more problematic factors are availability of jobs and housing.
>>2873843Visit the Chudstone castle
>>2881847That's true in my experience. Was there a decade or so ago in County Mayo, Sligo, and Roscommon. Lots of little POIs to discover

>>2885944Why in their right mind would an American want the massive QoL and standard of living downgrade of moving to Ireland???
>>2873843What's the social scene in Ireland? Yeah I know it's all boomers living in the pretty countryside but is there any kind of nightlife or anything? I'm trying to go for my birthday and would like to atleast find a dope pub or something that's lively. I was thinking of going to Dublin for better clarification.
>>2888893Ngl I live in a major city and that shit sucks dick. I'd much rather a peaceful nomadic type of life.
>>2888893>massive QoL and standard of living downgrade of moving to Irelandyanks thinking the pinnacle of civilization is driving to walmart in their SUV never gets old>>2889230there's plenty of nightlife in Ireland, obviously we're known for the pubs but there's clubs and late night gigs on every weekend in the bigger cities. Have a look at resident advisor but DJ gigs, Eventbrite can be useful as well. There's probably instagram pages for nightlife you could look at too.Depends what you're looking for. If you want something trendy, look at Drury street or Wigwam.
>>2890369Good shit, I have a friend who raves around the world and shit so she would be a great helper if she comes with me.
>>2890447>friend>she OMG HOLY SHITT HIS FRIEND IS A HECKIN GRIL OMGis that what you expect us to do bro
>>2890447yeah plenty of cool raves and parties around if you search around on insta
>>2890369>thinking the pinnacle of civilization is driving to walmart>in the bigger citiesThis is the difference, whether it's USA or Ireland.
>>2873866This unironically, seeing the Aran Islands was one of the highlights of a relatively boring country
>>2890476i know, i know, it's alien to you third world incels that a man can be friends with a woman openly but it's pretty common in the first world
Well, I may have fucked up. I am on a road trip with the wife and 2 year old and we decided to stop over in cork for 2 days thinking it'd be neat to see the REAL capital of Ireland. Pulling up to the apartment we rented and it's in a ghetto looking version of Brooklyn full of by far and away the chavviest looking women I've ever seen. These are the kinds of girls I've searched for for years when visiting London for work and have not been able to find. Now I'm here with the wife and kid... There are 14 year olds traipsing around outside the Airbnb dressed so trashy I have to believe they're proper working girls at that age. I'm blown away and not really sure what the fuck to do. We went to some Indian place for dinner last night because it was the only place that looked like it wasn't frequented by junkies and art hoes in the central district. Normally we take the little guy to a pub after dinner for a pint without thinking twice but all the bars around here were just full of junkie looking art hoes and churkas. Is there a charming district in cork we should be checking out or is it all a run down place infested with child prostitutes? Hjálp :(
>>2893581How was the diarrhea?
>>2893582Brother my guts are in ruins from a week of eating random pub food across co Clare and dingle. I just want a decent restaurant for tonight that isn't falling all over itself to be edgy or openly hostile to kids and a friendly-ish pub for after :|
Rent a car, drive to Galway and road trip through Connemara. Tullamore is literally the boring middle of the country with nothing but fucking flat grassland for miles and miles. If you want to enjoy Ireland stick to the coast. You can also do the Wicklows and east coast stretch south of Dublin if you'd rather be closer to the capitol for logistics or to make a flight.
>>2893581Funny I went on a family trip to Cork years back and it was pissing rain the entire time. Also the current heatwave is likely Brazil tier for the Irish so no shit they're wearing as little clothing as possible.
