I love tacos, tortas, and tequila. Give me one good reason to not visit San Antonio (I've never been to Texas before).
>>
All of those things you love are originally from Mexico. You can get them cheaper AND better in Mexico.

Not OP, but to play devil's advocate, Mexico is also incredibly dangerous throughout. If these are what you want, wouldn't it be worth it to pay a bit more and know you aren't risking getting sacrificed to Guadalupe?
>>

guanajuato state isn't dangerous and nobody thinks to go there and the food is delicious
just stay in san miguel de allende, its a tourist trap but its cute and safe and you have easy driving access (you will need a car or a driver) to get to the various neighboring towns like leon and guanajuato and irapuato in such of street food.

Do you have any relatively safe Mexico recommendations that don't require cars? I'm an American and am already burnt out on car culture. I'd rather get an Airbnb somewhere and be close enough to things to walk around. Ideally somewhere with a boxing gym I can train at and/or friendly young people to hang out with. Maybe meet some girls. For reference I'm in my late 20's, will be in my early 30's soon, though I definitely look younger and could blend in
>>
>>2874096
To follow up, If you're saying those are great spots to visit I guess the car stuff could be worked around if there is decent access to affordable reliable driver services, like uber or something

You really thought I wouldn't click the link and read the article? The article says that multiple different countries used the same name to describe multiple different things independent of each other. It doesn't even matter who used the name first, a Mexican sandwich clearly isn't the same thing as an Italian cake.
>>
>>2874098
just rent a car anon, it won't be that bad

>>2874100
I mean you might find a local driver if you really don't want to drive yourself. And they might know where to get the stuff you specifically want to see or eat.
>>

I did not, in fact, expect you to click the link

San Antonio has this romantic image—Riverwalk, Alamo, other old missions, but in reality most of it is dusty Texas suburban sprawl, lots of military bases, freeways, rednecks and Chicanos. It’s not Mexico though you’re just a few hours drive from the border.
San Antonio-Austin-Hill Country is the most interesting region of Texas and worth a trip.

False. American street tacos are better than Mexican street tacos, because Mexican tacos are traditionally prepared with a skimpy portion of random cow scraps, while Americans demand a more generous serving of quality beef.

You can take a bus from San Antonio to Monterrey, a city with a spectacular mountain backdrop. They are famous for their spit-roasted baby goat, cabrita asada or something like that. Monterrey is quasi First World with its prices, but you can get a lot of fine food there. The traffic is awful on the outskirts, which are very grungy and industrial. But the old historic center is quaint, a little rundown. Also, if you are a tall gringo, you can have a lot of luck with the dating apps. You might not even have to pay for a room, kek.

It's not incredibly dangerous to be on foot in the big cities. It's rare that you'll even be approached, and if you are you just ignore them and keep going. Driving through the backcountry villages can be very sketchy, however. You have no idea what kind of evil shit just happened, and nobody's gonna tell you, but you can sense the menace, like half the adult male population wants to kill the hijos de puta who left Xavier's disemboweled corpse on the roadside last Tuesday.

>Touch down in Mexico
>Collect suitcase, notice that multiple items are missing
>Get hounded by 2 dozen taxi drivers at the airport, decide between that and getting an Uber straight to Liveleak
>Haggle down to a $50 trip to your hotel
>Pass 2 road "checkpoints" on the way, attendants go to you for payment, not the driver
>As you arrive, 4 men try to shove a drink in your hand and then ask for a tip
>Staff announces that your room isn't ready, but if you upgrade to the suite you can check in now
>Hotel room doesn't have a safe, guess you better tip the cleaning lady
>Fuck it, time to enjoy your trip
>Spend another $75 getting a taxi from the hotel district to the town proper (there was a 30 minute delay due to the death of cartel leader Jose "El Hombre" la mancha de Veracruz Cortez
>Finally make it downtown, dodge pickpockets on your way to filthy, greasy taco stand where the workers don't wash their hands
>"Police" approach you, tell you you stole a car but they'll look the other way for a bribe
>Pay them off, get to the front of the line
>Haggle your $20 taco plate down to $10
>They serve you the wypipo special, unseasoned chicken and pico
>Ask them for hot sauce
>That'll be $2

He's obviously talking about the Mexican kind of torta

like the San Anto locals say "if she's not a torta no me importa"

Mexicans are like 20-40% of every single major city in the US in every state except maybe Alaska.

You don't have to leave you own damn hometown to get those things.
>>
>>2874072
You might as well actually go to Mexico
>>
>>2874095
Mexico is only dangerous if you are extremely retarded and have 0 situational awareness otherwise it wouldn’t get tens of millions of tourists yearly
>>
I'm going to San Antonio in a few weeks for a work conference. I've never been to Texas, or even the south, in my entire life. I know the city is like 65 percent Hispanic. How anti-white are they? Will they spit in my food when I'm not looking? Should I bring mace?
>>
>>2879303
Even if they aren’t cucked (a lot of Hispanics in the US are gusano scum that sucks up to gringos) they’ll be too scared of getting reported to ICE to try anything. You’ll be fine.
>>
>>2879303
Chemical sprays are useless in a confrontation unless you are willing to run away like a chickenshit afterwards.

Texan Hispanics don't hate Anglos (English speakers) as a general rule. They don't give a fuck about you and completely ignore you in public. Business manners are usually indifferent as well, unless the boss tells them to fake smile and say how may I help you and all that bullshit. The burrito sellers value their jobs, so they're not going to do stupid self-destructive behavior like spitting on somebody's food.

Don't go trusting anybody who approaches you with friendly intentions on the street. San Antonio does have quite a lot of druggies and street hustlers. The biggest disappointment is the lack of pretty young girls wearing cute outfits on the Riverwalk and downtown. It's seemingly all families or DINK couples in their 30s and 40s with shit-tons of money to spend. Lots and lots of fat people, it's hard to walk through a crowd of such lardasses.
>>2877348
Tens of millions of tourists, all going to a small number of destinations. Of course people feel safe in a herd of foreigners. The other 90% of the country has close to zero foreign tourists, and it absolutely is dangerous. Situational awareness helps you mentally prepare to deal with tough situations as they arise. It doesn't make them magically disappear.

>>
>>2874072
The Riverwalk is one of the better tourist spots in Texas.

Austin has better food overall, but San Antonio has better texmex sloppa if that's what you're after. Houston has a surprisingly good Chinese and Vietnamese food scene.
>>
>>2879303
>How anti-white are they?
From living in Houston for several years, I don't think racial animus is a particularly serious concern with Hispanics. Under normal circumstances, you'll get some funny looks and a bit of a language barrier at worst. The black ghettos in Houston and DFW are significantly more dangerous to be white. It's just normal "don't trust random poor people soliciting you" situational awareness.
>>
>>2879368
You're less of a human if you don't enjoy food, it's the basis of all culture before language, architecture, literature or music. It's only second to natural landscapes and not traveling for food puts you among lesser apes. Empires have been built on food resources. Can you name another economic activity that is shared by all human societies and that will always exist? It's also the only thing along with sex that involves all five senses and without which the species wouldn't survive.
>>
>>2879383
senses are but one. and when you understand this youll know its bound to far higher than walking, talking, obeying, swaying and caving.
>>
>>2879386
I've done a bunch of acid too buddy but you're not supposed to smell music or taste colors in everyday life
