Can't believe there isn't a general about Nam already, even though everyone and their mother is going there.I myself did Saigon, Da Nang, Hoi An, Hanoi, and the Ha Giang Loop earlier this year. Can highly recommend all of it.
There are 3 threads on the catalog
>>2874306Those are Vietnam threads, but not an actual Vietnam General.>>2867664Group of four asking specifically about their trip>>2862690English teacher moving to Da Nang>>2872636Visa runner asking specifically about Ho Chi Minh City. These are not general discussions, they are very clearly self-serving threads.
>>2874305Why are Vietnam lovers always so vague about their experiences?>I highly recommend>The country is great>It was a lot of funIs Vietnam the new "babby's first extended trip overseas" destination? Because everyone who goes there sure as hell talks like it was the first time they've ever done this kind of thing. They have no frame of reference to compare it to, so they are unable to voice any meaningful compliments or critiques regarding the country.
>>2874318Yes as someone who has been literally everywhere in Asia except Vietnam, I've never seen compelling reports other than the obvious if I want Vietnam war history experience
Do people actually get high off balloons in Nam?
I arrived in Hanoi a couple of days ago and it felt so wrong: so polluted, bad smells everywhere, insane chaotic traffic, unbearable humid tropical heat, people are nice at first but some also seem to see you as a walking ATM.But then I entered into a random bar playing vinahouse tonight and I had a ton of fun, people gave me a lot of drinks, encouraged me to dance, wanted me to flirt with their female friends to troll them, lots of laughs, anyway it was insane, so I guess I just needed to get acclimated to the local pace of life.I went to a Jolibee beforehand and a girl told me "I'm surprised to see a foreigner living around locals" so I imagine I ended up in a district that is absolutely not touristic and that's why my hotel is so cheap, hence the initial shock factor. The air is so polluted tho, the government really needs to do something about it. At least I can stay if in my room if I don't want to interact with anyone and not breathe the smog.>>2874339Yeah I've heard you can buy N2O in some clubs but I haven't seen that from my own eyes yet.
What do I do if I sense the cab driver is trying to scam me?
>>2874339>voluntarily getting permanent braindamage for a 2 seconds high
>>2874397Should have took public transit chud
>>2874400What fucking public transit?
>>2874339It's quite common in Hanoi, most club goers do it. Even the locals do it
>>2874305Yeah
>>2874355AQI in Hanoi is currently 3x worse than here in India, kek>>2874397If you don't want to pay for the luxury of private car service, don't use it. >>2874401City buses, you dipshit. Same as any city anywhere in the world.
How’s the fuel situation there? Long queues to fill up?
>>2874305how much time is needed to do all that? I don't like to rush when travelling
>>2874339Not as easy to get now as about 2 years ago. Also don't.>>2874397Don't take cabs. Book a Grab car. Pay the 25k for Grab unlimited and enjoy Grab Premium cars at cheaper rates than regular grab rides. I am an unapologetic Grab shill because of its dirt cheap convenience. >>2874437Things seem fine. I fuel up rather often and never have to wait. The feds cracked open the emergency fuel subsidy fund last month to slow the price creep.Supply isn't affected much for the layman. The main worry is on jet fuel rn, but so far so good despite Petrolimex's warnings.
>>2874398Is there such thing as a high that doesn't cause brain damage?
>>2874497You gotta do a lot of shrooms and constant weed to get equivalent brain damage as a couple huffs of galaxy gas
Saigon>Hanoi
>>2874516Depends on how ugly or fat and autistic you are. I got laid there for free as a bald 250 pound fat fuck
>>2874424Public transportation is unreliable in the Third World. With traffic jams year-round, you’ll end up regretting it and wishing you’d just walked instead.
>>2874579It's not unreliable, but merely time-consuming and difficult to figure out (in cities with non-numbered bus routes). Most tourists' time is worth more than their money, which is why they spring for a taxi from their hotel door.>>2874516Many guys brag about it, but they never provide proof, so for all we know they're a bunch of larpers. Others claim that Viet girls have zero interest in hookups with random foreigners.
>>2874546I'm not bald or fat, but I'm 5'8 so that probably cancels out my whiteness. Also as a no experience virgin I may as well be autistic as I'm too innocent.>>2874584>>2874592From my research, it seems Vietnamese girls only want serious relationships, and with other Vietnamese. This honestly makes dating more fun as a white guy, but also harder. It's not like Philippines where every girl is looking for a white sugar daddy, it's actually first world.
>>2874616>my research>it seems Vietnamese girls only want serious relationships, and with other Vietnamesewat
I'm drunk rn
>>2874618My research of watching YouTube videos about the matter
>>2874649That you bro?
These low tier scams and bait and switch are grinding me down.Vietnam fatigue has set in again.
What is your favorite spot to walk around in Saigon? A tourist guide recommended Nguyen Hue Walking Street and it is worse than walking in the Californian summer
>>2875011story?
Do they have ladyboys there? Never been there but encountered a few viet troon tourists in Japan. Made my dick confused
>>2875152Yeah but the absolute vast majority are nothing compared to what Thailand or even Philippines has.I NEED to get back to Thailand.
>>2875264So you mean genuine troons and not traps?:’(
You fucking faggots in denial have to ruin every thread, don't you?
>>2874339If you can find that shit then do it. Used to be available 24 hours a day on Bui Vien. Post-COVID I'd just camp out in abandoned clubs throwing myself a bday party with last night's crypto gains. There is no better feeling than doing hard drugs outdoors in public with Elvis playing for the whole street to dance to.I hear they're easiest to find in Nha Trang at this time. I haven't found any since the regime change in 2025.>>2874497>>2874502It's definitely bad for your brain and not in a negligible way like some drugs. You can fuck up your life doing half a tank or more of NO2 at once if you don't take B12 supplements. Once a week with the supplements is fine. It's not addictive but you build tolerance really quickly. Don't chase that first time high cause it's never coming back.>>2874649Rock on anon
>>2874355Hanoi sucks ass. The whole north is a shithole. Everyone's broke and incompetent and trying to rip you off. The standards for everything are as low as Saigon a decade ago and they don't seem to notice they're being left behind. Nationalism is good but in Hanoi they would rather go hungry than embrace a good idea from anywhere but their quarantine zone.
HCMC vs Bangkok? I wanted to do the digital nomad thing from Bangkok but need to get a TEFL job while I figure out how to best make money online, and it looks like teaching in Vietnam is better for me as there's more demand and hours are lower, while still being able to earn enough to live and save a bitI assumed BKK would mog HCMC and it still does in terms of infrastructure, cleanliness etc, but I was surprised at how much there is in HCMC that interests me. There's definitely enough there for me to build a life for myself if I wanted toAnyone lived in both?
>>2874305This fucking country is so noisy and chaotic. Vietnamese people are literally 60IQ monkeys. First and last time coming to thise shit hole
>>2877646Rude :’(
>>2877647Fuck you and your bikes
>>2876622Quality vs affordability basicallyNot that Bangkok is particularly expensive.
>>2877648phúc yêu >:C
>>2877650Phuc you long time
>>2877649Yeah you can still live in BKK for under $1000 relatively comfy (I don't have subscriptions and don't drink, don't eat out though to my costs are gonna be much lower than a lot of people's) even though everyone on Youtube is yapping about how it's not a budget destination anymoreSaigon looks like it has way lower teaching hours on average though
>>2877646Yes, it's noisy, chaotic. and viets have primate-level intelligence at best, but it has sovl, which is very rare to find in tourist destinations these days
>>2877650fyi yêu is pronounced "ee oo"you want dù, giù or vù (in the south)
After 7 months I finally caved and gave the degenerate side of things.Man the girls here are absolutely shit at sex, handjobs etc. Even the ladyboys.Anyway. Got it all out.
>>2877655There's a few Hostels I like and they have a rooftop area that nobody seems to go so I can chill by myself for a few hours. 4 people to a room.Street food or nearby restaurants. Sure the food is basic but 30-80 baht is cheap for a meal.Catch the BTS / Metro everywhere. Grab motorbike if you're desperate.Beer prices are the biggest fuck unless you buy from 7/11.Simcards and ATMs are the biggest Jews though.
>>2877716p4p or honest meetings?
>>2877721Not sure what you mean. Just like massage parlours, walking street etc.
>>2875012It's not a touristic city at all. It's just a place where people live their lives and that's it. It's not even particularly good for fun.
>>2877716>even the ladyboyskys homo
>>2877716Did you get a ladyboy to top you?
>>2878149Anyone who doesn't do this is a faggot.
>>2877689From what I hear, Vietnam is still a lot more clean and orderly than India, though population density is on par with pajeetland. After years of putting it off, I'm determined to spend 90 days in VN next winter. After all this time in India, I doubt anything in Vietnam will be a challenge.
>>2875012What is it with you disgusting oversized McPeople and your intolerance for tropical weather? I'm tired of hearing about how 35 C with a little humidity is le heckin unbearable.
>the English teacher who f5s these threads for weeks until someone writes in Vietnamese so he can jump in with his been here two years local expertiseGood for you learning the language but when you're actually proficient the locals will stop complimenting you. Until then hold that shit closer to your chest. You'll look back on this phase of your expat life and cringe.
