Should you go
To Greece ?
And then do what?
>>
Been there, done that.

Questionable

Not great, but gets the job done

Amazing

Phenomenal

everybody wont shut up about how amazing greece is yet all the locals wanna get the fuck out of this godforsaken hellhole
t. greek
if you are to come, avoid athens, mykonos, santorini, crete, anywhere where there are social media faggots
rent a car, go to some random mountainous town in the peloponnese, go to some greek isle where there is no airport or cruise liners and people dont speak english and you'll be fine
>>
>>2875595
>go to some random mountainous town in the peloponnese
But what if you want to see the ruins or see artifacts in the museums?
>>
>>2875595
>avoid athens
but athens has all the cool historical museums

>go to some greek isle where there is no airport or cruise liners and people dont speak english
but how would i communicate with them? and wouldn't they be annoyed with a tourist shitting up their village?
>>
>>2875595
>>2875562
Do you prefer the mainland or island hopping?
>>
>>2875599
>but athens has all the cool historical museums
if thats your thing, then fine.
you will probably have lots of fun, the archaeological museum is considered the best of its kind
but dont expect the vibe of athens to be that, its probably closer to india or latin america or barcelona.
>wouldn't they be annoyed with a tourist shitting up their village?
those are the ones that are friendly actually, the true authentic islanders
>>2875739
>Do you prefer the mainland or island hopping?
def island hopping, i think i've been camping to most islands by now. Mainland is also amazing if you have a car
>>
>>2875595
>everybody wont shut up about how amazing greece is yet all the locals wanna get the fuck out of this godforsaken hellhole
Almost like visiting as a tourist is completely different from living there
>>
>>2875791
you know lots of japanese or icelanders saying similar stuff?
i dont
even italians dont
>>
>>2875789
>>Do you prefer the mainland or island hopping?
>def island hopping, i think i've been camping to most islands by now. Mainland is also amazing if you have a car
But the islands don't have ancient ruins so what's the point of visiting?
I'm going there to recreate the odyssey

I just came back from one week Athens and Thessaloniki.
The food is really fantastic. We usually had three different kind of mezze style dishes for the two of us. Usually cost around 40€ with 0.5l of house wine. Can recommend restaurant Asymmerto in Athens and Oinohoos in Thessaloniki.
Good selection of craft beer is available in Greece but rather expensive (6.5€ for 0.33l).
Toilet paper cant go into the toilet in most places which is 3rd style. But overall we had a good time.

Sounds good, but the issue with that is that anything non touristic in greece does have shitty infrastructure. And also you'll end up in private land with 20 dogs chasing after you. It's not like scotland where there's freedom to roam, more like england where everyone gets pissy if you step on their land. I mean it doesn't have to be the case and most of them are friendly, apart from the middle aged women in athens.
>>2876380
crete does have roman and minoan ruins. Don't know about the other ones.
>>
I was thinking of going to Athens this autumn or winter for a tattoo appointment.
when does the ''season'' end so it wont be as busy
I'll take a few days off work so its not a single day type of thing and I can explore a bit too
>>
>>2876495
Never really nowadays, its been extended to the point where season ends after christmas and preparations for the new season start a couple of weeks before easter
>>
>>2875791
Yeah, it's called having 10x the spending power of the local wagies, kek
>>
>>2876464
>England where everyone gets pissy if you step on their land
Rick Steves said travelers have the right to walk on private land so even if there’s a fence/gate, you are allowed to walk through. Was he lying?
>>
>>2876624
how bad is it? I want to get the ink done. but while im there I'd take the opportunity to see some sights since im a history nerd. Churches, Parthenon, anything historic even if its just a wall or some shit like that

The parthenon is like a 15 minute walk away, just to give a vague area I'd be in

Greece is amazing, but avoid tourist spots. Either pick some random small island (maybe I lucked out) or do the Peloponnese. Visiting Mycenae alone made it worth it, for some reason it was basically empty in the middle of July.
But I stopped at some city in the Peloponnese which turned out to just be a cruise ship stop, so you have to make a bit of research
>>
>>2876683
>how bad is it?
i guess its not that bad, def much less intense, starting from the middle of september and especially after october, things really become more humane
for example in the ancient sights its difficult in the summer just getting in
what i meant is that we get tourists till december, which wasnt noticeable till few years back. guess people travel a lot more nowadays.
you'll like it, lots of ancient stuff to explore
>>2876694
>a cruise ship stop
has to be katakolo, kek. that area on its own has no value, the gulf of kyparisia is just a 100 km sand beach with nothing around it. very beautiful though
the only reason that big port exists is because a huge percentage of the greek economy 150 years ago was exporting raising to the west for deserts, wine etc which were exported from katakolo
nowadays raisin exports are totally negligeble yet the huge port remained, and they turned into one of the largest cruise ports in greece alongside santorini, kek
>>
>>2876861
>has to be katakolo
yep that was it
>>
go to myconos Santorini Milos totally worth it if you are not miserable poor
>>
>>2876882
>if you are not miserable poor
shalom. i am happy to take your money.
>mykonos
has nothing to offer other than the clubs on the beach i guess? but then if you wanna do clubbing there are better places for that?
Little venice my ass, every island looks like that
>santorini and milos
i believe both of those islands are ultra worth it, but, in santorini at least, you want get the greek experience. its more like disneyland, Akrotiri and the views of the caldera are worth it
>>

It's unappealing. Athens is completely plastered with mindless, quick, "shitty tagging" that is just ugly vandalism. I don't know if it's worse than Berlin though

I chilled in Neo Pavliani for a day during the Akropolis Rallye:

Regarding infratstructure I agree. Buses are shit!

>I don't know if it's worse than Berlin though
I think Athens is probably the most graffitied city in the world. Berlin is at least spared in certain parts.

DONT WANT TO TAKE OVER THE THREAD OP...
But can someone tell me if it's wort it going to the islands Limnos and Efstratios?
I'm an Arma3 fan and I always wanted to go there, but the GoogleMap pictures seem rather boring.
>>
>>2879791
>>2875554
Hey anon, I dont want to make another thread so I am quick taking over your thread. I bet you'll appreciate it also:

Hello anons, I would like to go back to Greece but this time to Altis (real name: Limnos) and Stratis (real name: Ag. Efstratios) from the game Arma 3. Is it really worth going for hiking and landscape photography?
Even better question, are there any real milsim events? I hope somebody on that Greek island capitalized on that idea, due to how well the game Arma3 sold!?

I remember one anon here saying his mother is from that Island. If you are reading this, have you gone yet? What was the experience like? Any cool things to do there?

>limnos
its a really cool island, way different vibe than the rest of the isle. lots of balkanoids, great food, very cheap, very pretty, lively
>Ag. Efstratios
there is nothing there, few old people
>>
>>2875562
Is the cost really that good? It looks similar to Western Europe..
>>
I will gatekeep my favorite island, but open google maps pick a random blob and travel there, rent a car or bike and stay in a nice hotel.
