Good morning, Thai embassy. Songkran day off is over, so it's time to get back to work.

How's my dtv application coming along?

You might be right. Looks like there's tons of hotel availability in bkk and reddit has posts about how traffic is noticably lighter, hotel workers are mentioning it's slow, middle easterners are noticably less, etc.
>fuel prices up
>less people arriving for short trips
>air routes to India are being cut back
>visa free entry being cut back
>dtv criteria is said to be getting more stringent and selective, more rejections (pls not me)
>more people are drifting to Vietnam and whenever else

Hey embassy,

My flight is being operated by Asiana and will be arriving from a layover in Seoul in late July. Am I fucked or will their fuel stocks be okay?

Also does that mean I can go to soi cowboy without having to deal with over 9000 jeets trying to sell me counterfeit Rolexes?
>>
Flights from India to Thailand have definitely gone up in price. I was seeing flights for as low as $90 one-way before this shitstorm kicked off, $150 roundtrip. Just checked and roundtrips are now starting at $350 from Delhi. Most one-way tickets are $200+.

I'll be making the trip no matter the cost. An extra $100 in airfare doesn't matter much when measured against eight months of travel around the entire circumference of the earth. But for a group of jeets taking a vacation, the extra cost makes a big difference.
>>
>>2875815
Flights across the board are more expensive. I booked LAX to BKK for late July on March 8th for $750, as of now it's $1230.
>>
>>2875817
Wtf kind of shopping have you done you dumbass puto
So many flights for sub $500
>>

No, the $750 deal I got was for round trip from 7/27 to 8/4.
>>
>>2875821
Oh.
I can't even remember the last time I bought a round trip flight. I always one-way it.
>>
Google Flights shows on a graph just how much fares for regional Asian travel have risen over the past month.
>>
>>2875827
How come? You probably are paying way more that way.
>>
Just paid $239 for a 2200 km flight from Kathmandu to Bangkok in June. Nepal Airlines has always been pricey, so this fare is only a little higher than the historical average of $200 or so.

Got a little surprise when checking my inbox for the flight itinerary. The new owner of the company I have worked for since 2019 sent me an email saying "it's so great to hear from you!! BTW we don't need you here anymore, so sorry :( "

Fuckin A. I already bought my return ticket from BKK to muttshartistan in July. Loyalty is a crock of shit in the modern world of HR roasties. You can't count on anyone to stand by you or be there for you when you need them, no matter how hard you've worked for them in the past. The only thing you can count on is the cash you have on hand, so you damn well better hold onto it.

Good morning, embassy. Time to wake up and get back on my impending approval.
Do you understand me?
>>

If they cut visas down to 30 days, what's the point? I'm a remote worker and I'm going to set up shop in Phnom Penh in the fall. Easy residency visa, can skirt around taxes, and be able to hop to Thailand or Vietnam easily if I want for a week or two.
>>
T’way Air and Air Busan have cut flights to Thailand. They haven't axed them all but there's been a significant reduction.
>>
>>2875903
I will be returning to America as a hobo, not as a wagie. One idea is to hitchhike around the Midwest until I find a traveling carnival and hire on with them. Or else farm labor. Hence the upcoming forty days in Thailand should be a period of comfy solo wanderings through the provincial countryside, staying in pleasant A/C rooms and eating tasty market snacks...because life as a footloose vagabond in midsummer America is going to be nowhere near as predictable and sedate.
>>2875841
Roundtrips are for wagies who have a set date when they return to the wagecage. Long-term travelers on the other side of the world always book onward flights, not return flights. Sadly, most of the good one-way deals have been erased by the rapidly rising price floor.
>>
>>2875751
>>
>>2875827

How? I believe Thai immigration/ customs will give you a ton of shit if you don’t have a return flight. Might not even let you in.

I remember 6 years ago flying to Manila from SFO and the fucking airline told me they wouldn’t let me on unless I book a return flight
>>
>>2875926
Not always. Most of the time they just ask when you’re leaving. Aslong as you don’t sperg out and just say some arbitrary date that is well within the valid stay period, like 2 weeks, they will just go "oh okay, here’s your passport"
>>
>>2875827
You should start booking a fake onward ticket for your travels now. It never used to be an issue for me, but starting in 2025, I started getting asked about it more and more. Probably 50% of the time I get asked now.
>>
>>2875926
Philippine Airlines? They did that to me when flying to Philippines AND when flying from the Philippines to Thailand. Required proof of onward travel to get my boarding pass.

I'm currently in Bangkok, there's lots of tourists here, the hotels and hostels are rammed. It's reasonable to think this middle east situation has reduce tourist numbers, but in practice its only a few % down on the norm, perhaps even low-key substantial, but definitely not major.

I think the Songkran party atmosphere might skew things at this time of year to a younger crowd.

When I was in Pats in December, I felt like the only Burger in sea of jeets and Russians.
>>
>>2876499
For white people, the majority is still Anglo. But especially among the younger crowd, there were lots of Germans. I also met some Scandinavians and French people. I witnessed some pretty unusual visitors to....for example, a group of three boomer couples from the UK whom I ran into every single time I went to Soi Boomerang. Also, once at a beer bar on Soi Buakhao, I saw a roughly 25-year-old cute looking white girl making out with a bar girl.

Also lot of Russians, but usually they are couples and never met one in a monger venue.

>I thought they only gave the dengue vaccine to people who have had it before.
Yeah. Dengue isn't really just one disease, it's four different variants that all present in the same way, and here's the key thing: each time you get one, it's worse. Usually people survive the first two but die on the third or fourth.

And here's the thing about the vaccine: it isn't perfect, and because it's not perfect, sometimes an individual will develop immunity to only two or three of the strains that the vaccine is protecting you against. Meaning that if you go into a dengue-heavy area again and get the strain that your body DIDN'T develop immunity against, you'll likely die from it.

So, they try to only vaccinate people after they've already been infected with the disease once or twice. That way, the odds are lower that they'll end up dying from a failed vaccination.
>>

90 Day Fiance?
Qrd on their major malfunction?
>>
>>2877480
When I first visited during December peak tourist season in 2023, Yaowarat Rd was more than a bit chaotic. The famous street food market was literally jammed nut to butt with pedestrians. Even in India I've never been stuck in a crowd barely able to move forward, but there I was, because there is a barrier separating the road from the market. Every plastic chair was taken, and people were feasting on the most exquisite seafood imaginable. Lots of groups standing around waiting for a table and blocking passage for others. Away from the tourist hordes, there are a lot of grimy little shops and crowded narrow roads. Basically India-tier but with Chinese instead of Indians. And no honking.

Personally I prefer the outlying provinces because they are much cleaner due to massive new public works projects. They are also just as cheap if not cheaper than the grimy parts of Bangkok and cities adjacent in the Chao Phraya basin, which are also beat to shit. Places like Singburi for instance.
>>
>>2877485
90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 days

An obese, autistic American white man named Forrest had a nearly decade long online relationship with an even more obese Filipina woman named Sheena. Forrest finally went to Sheena's country to see her while but he brought along his overbearing mother and braindead stepdad.

They got engaged, lost their virginities (age 32 for Forrest and 40 for Sheena), and were trying to think of plans on how to be together physically long term. Forrest's only USA income is disability checks so he didn't meet the income requirements to bring Sheena to America on a K1 Visa. He was thinking about somehow getting a job in PHP but his momma shut that down. There's a bunch of other minor drama that makes her mistrust Sheena. So he ultimately decided he'll go back to Murica to get his shit together and bring Sheena over some day to get married.

The last episode tell-all is next week. We can't wait to get updates on the other trainwreck relationships. Sheena and Forrest are kinda gross to look at but they're so wholesome together.
>>
>>2877490
That's a little sad, actually. I'm actually more sympathetic to them than the usual 90 Day Fiance couple.

People are given a 5 year visa if they take a fucking cooking class or muay Thai fitness class shit. There are broke fucking farang on social media being given money by Thais or rummaging through garbage because they're just that pathetic.

News articles claim Thailand wants higher value tourists rather than begpackers and budget travelers. Passports from India have been given 60 days visa free entry while other countries are being rolled back to 30.

If I demonstrate I have more money than the entire family of anyone viewing my application and more monthly income from dividends than they do from their job I get REEEEEJECTED.

Three fucking weeks I spent in a shit hole I didn't want to be in and paid over 300 USD for this application. I'm over my quick seethe and now it's time to move on.

I'll either need to get creative for a future dtv attempt or just not bother with Thailand for a stable base.

>What the fuck did you apply for?
Digital nomad/remote worker

I even gave them my tax return in addition to brokerage statements to show I had short term income from some active trading so it's work. And that I'm compliant with tax laws. And my passport pages to show how long I've been out of the US and am already effectively a digital dorker for more than a year.

Do they want me to keep doing what I'm doing but in Thailand more? No lol. They want more indians and brokies in cooking classes who complain in Facebook groups that the 500k THB is a little steep and it's hard to scrape that together over the course of a few months.
Or posts of people being accepted with their portfolio of social media they manage to make money from.

>What's wrong with the DTV muay thai visa?
I don't want to do Muay Thai right now. I have energy and time going into other things.

>No, they don't actually check if you are really training.
I have seen posts that people have actually had gyms called for verification.
There have also been mentions of being given a different visa instead of dtv like a 6 months tourist visa because they're starting to decide that not everyone needs a 5 year visa for a few months culture thing. Not always though.

I'm going to make another trip to Thailand in a bit and I'll decide then if I want to try again with a dtv. I still have interests in other places anyway. I don't need to live there.

I was pissed when I first got the email but after a while I didn't even really care. I have plans for multiple other countries anyway and just wanted a solid long stint somewhere good for a few months stability right now and hoped Thailand would be it.

>June 2026 recriminalization
Undoubtedly you'll still be able to find shops in the smaller provinces that ignore the new rules. A bigger concern than lack of supply is the enormous fines that the new law dictates for unlawfully possessing cannabis as a tourist. Prison time is no longer a threat, but the fines are something like $2000 USD equivalent. It creates a big incentive for hotel staff and others to report you to the police in the hope that they can get a little reward for themselves. I don't think I could have a sack of skunk stinking up my hotel room, smoke on the balcony and take it easy like I did in years past, knowing that nobody is going to do anything even if they do catch a whiff.

India's eVisa has a hundred questions. And drug use is a big deal here, though some parts of the country are much more permissive toward cannabis use than others. Police harassment is only going to happen if somebody reports you to the police. Abandoned buildings are the most common place for the bros to relax and toke up without worrying about interference. The cheap weed hits like garbage and smells like burning leaves. The hydroponically grown shit is extremely expensive and rarely encountered in most of India. Locals have told me that hand-harvested hash is the most common in the Himalayas.

Are you the Italian millionaire with the Philippino gf? what's your income? real work or investments? I might be in the same boat as you in that I live off my portfolio, pic rel, but that's not 'real' income I guess... Since I do Muay Thai anyway I'll just go that route.
Bro, Muay Thai is fun, just do it like once a week, if you only do training you won't have to worry about getting hit/hurt or anything, they don't do that if you dont want it.
https://www.muaythaifever.com/dtvvisamuaythai
>Is class attendance mandatory?
>We are not asked to monitor or report attendance to immigration or any other government organisation. You have paid for a course of Muay Thai and we are prepared for your arrival. However, we are able to be flexible and understand that the DTV is a tourist visa and you may wish to explore all of Thailand. Our position is that your registration is valid and we are ready to activate your study whenever you are. We do not expire your course so if you don;t turn up we assume that you will one day in the future.

India's evisa takes like 20 minutes and lasts up to 5 years, 180 days each. The locals told me to hit up the Nigerians for weed, there's a lot of them in India. In some states some form of weed extract is illegal

Ah shit, here we go. I have a DTV but this affects my gf whose from a neighboring country. She's technically working in Thailand illegally but we hope her boss will help her get her an MOU work visa soon.

Flying into BKK next week and might head down to one of the gulf islands, thinking either phangan or samui. Mostly looking to unwind on the beach with fellow whites and maybe a party night or two. Are these islands still worth going to? I was last in the area in 2010 and it seemed like things were going downhill even then so I’m a bit concerned. If I see more than 5 jeets in the same place I may end up in prison.

Ignoring the tattoos, it's been too long since I've had this type of study session in the west. I feel like a monk who didn't choose monasticism but because of environmental factors, was led away from devouring innate beauty towards an isolated space where I only accumulate wealth, exercise, and distract myself with various hobbies. I know after a few study sessions, I'd want to shift to other meaningful aspects of life. But how can a man, capable of so much studying, deny himself this academic arbitrage with the only cost being a plane ticket? Study partners are a rarity when you work from home and have no irl friends, forget sessions, it takes multiple months to find someone sharp enough and willing to chat first. I've never tried cold approaching study partners, perhaps I at least attempt this before looking elsewhere. I blame myself for not trying sooner.

I heard they were "cracking down" on visa runs and making you fill out some online form before entering Thailand now. If I wanted to do one visa run from Chiang Mai to Laos to extend my trip to like 6 weeks or so, would they stop me at the border, or what I'm worried about is would they stop me at customs for not having a return flight in 30 days? When I went in the past they asked barely anything at customs, but I can't remember if they like checked my plane ticket or something

Some years ago I flew into Don Mueang airport from Vietnam to get a business visa to teach in Nam. Had some cocky, arrogant thai monkey woman give me a whole lot of shit for not filling out the address of my intended stay perfectly. Made me get out of line and go to a back room for further questioning with a different employee. That was my very first trip there, my welcome to Thailand. I had a return flight and everything, wasn’t really dressed like a backpacker scrub but I was wearing shorts (no gross sandals) and a polo shirt. This monkey bitch really wanted to take me down, lol.

From what other expats say, always avoid middle aged female thai women employees at immigration and customs. They’re absolute miserable cunts that want to give you hard time & demean you. It’s probably luck of the draw with male Thais.

They are such little shitheads that they cannot help themselves but GAWK at any perceived infraction of decorum they come across. They stare without self awareness. They treat anyone who they view as beneath them scornfully and they do it righteously.

I would be on the frontlines if they invaded America and I’d be doing terrible things to the women I captured. No way I’m living in their world

Being completely honest, I don't think westerners are any different fundamentally in this regard. I am American and I think Americans are just as materialistic and superficial. The main difference I see between the two is that Americans try to be less overt about it despite being the exact same.

I used to think countries like China were much worse than us in this regard, but the older I get the more I view their overt attitude about it all as honesty. In America everybody wants to be that vain and materialistic, but larp and be seen as if they're not.

It is the same in dating too. American women want to pretend that love and sentimentality are first and foremost, while very obviously being interested in social status in wealth when you aren't naive about it. Eastern women will ask about your job or status first and foremost, which feels jarring and does feel off if youre western, but it is honest in a weird way.

Either way you sound jewish though.
>>
>>2878859
I know what you mean, it's manifests everywhere

Perhaps it's because they're another race, and I didn't grow up around them, but the excessively prideful and condescending chinese are more irritating. In lower or middle classes, it can be found - no skills, money, connection, etc warrant their haughtiness

While typing this, many white people popped into my head which exhibit the same things. Hmm
>>
>>2878861
It does manifest differently in some ways. For example where I live there are tons of low IQ poor people who drive expensive trucks they're in debt for just to signal. I was driving on a backroad with stop lights every so often yesterday and it was very congested traffic. This guy in a big expensive truck is honking hid horn and raging at me because I am not riding the bumper of the car in front of me. He eventually passed me, and just drove in front of me, exactly as I was, stopping at the same light etc.

Thing is I bet that guy is really cordial and nice when he's out of the car interacting with strangers, but in a faceless car environment where his avatar is his truck, he is free to express who he really is without shame. The way I see it where I live people don't have the courage to act as naughty and superior as the feel they are to others. Not saying I don't find it repulsive in Asian cultures either but still.

In the US especially it also manifests as America exceptionalism, which has no basis in reality. Quite the opposite in my opinion, and it's not like we are a unified race of people in the first place where you can try to claim some identity to common genetic traits. It's just heh my gdp poor boy :). It is low IQ behavior either way.
>>
>>2878871
It always routes back the low IQ fags irrespective of race, doesn't it. High IQ fags are typically more self aware and focus on their declared enemies, rather than indiscriminately causing headaches

Low IQ, low impulse control, low etiquette, crude fags are just more pervasive, and if you're educated the gap between modes of though can make things more outrageous

Momrons are like that, but will often have it right out in the open and give no fucks about larping they're not. Some will just rub it in your face. Once I got called a peasant because I wasn't using the current year's hottest smartphone like his fat ass just bought.

>>2878861
>the excessively prideful and condescending chinese are more irritating. In lower or middle classes, it can be found - no skills, money, connection, etc warrant their haughtiness
So they simply are better than you even if they're fat, seem stupid, have no apparent outward manifestations of false superiority like shiny things around them? They're just better than you just because? Sounds like mormons again.

I'm 29 and feel too old to visit Thailand solo. What am I gonna do there, sit at the beach and drink by myself? Visit malls and look around like a lost dork? C'mon man, I can do that at home.

>>2878965
I think there's a factor you might be leaving out for why you're considering spending time alone at beach town in Thailand with some malls right on the road of the beach. Is this true, anon?
>>
>>2878981
I'm saying those are not reasons to visit. It's boring, and I will take my neet business to Mexico instead. It's much closer.

>>2878982
Be honest about where you are thinking of going and what you're curious about experiencing. There is a very specific slice of Chonburi where you can sit by the beach and drink and then walk right into a modern mall from the beach that meets your criteria.

I somehow doubt those amenities you mentioned and their proximity to each other are why you're on the fence.

India is now more expensive than Thailand for A/C lodging and (non veg) dining. But India is more comfy than Thailand to live without A/C due to its huge variety of climates. With Indian LPG prices being hiked 50% to start May, restaurants are going to jack up costs all across the country. But you can still get soft drinks, snacks, and quick bites for much cheaper in India than in Thailand.
>>2879263
Investors require returns. Go someplace where hotels & restaurants are owned by the person who checks you in or cooks your lunch; prices will be much lower.

See, this is why I stay in hotels and don't fuck with these monthly rentals, regardless of anons bragging about how much they frugalmaxx with their condos. They bait you in with low rent - woah, only $150 per month as opposed to $14 per night in a hotel! - and then they fuck you over with deposit requirements and utility fees. Hotels OTOH have no hassle or responsibility. You pick any property that suits your whim, you have a room ten minutes after walking through the door, and you leave any day you get bored of the place. Most you might have to do is leave a 500 baht note at reception for the key deposit.
