Why is Japan so cozy?
>>2878192>unremarkable street :|>unremarkable street, Japan :0
>>2878197I'm from California, your image is fucking stupid because you have to have some really magic nat 20 dice roll to make something look that good. In my neighborhood(it's a good one Orange county) there are beer cans, homeless, trash all over and we have STROADS of all things... Keep in mind this is California one of the biggest GDP in the world and best infrastructure and healthiest people out of all the states. I doubt the rest of the country is any better, it's just cool how Japan manages this somehow. kindly fuck off with your bullshit.
>>2878192the modern, urban parts of japan never appealed to me (not enough nature, too cramped, ugly buildings). but the countryside and traditional architecture is beautiful.
>>2878198Reddit weighs in
>>2878232says the flyover.... *rollseyes*
>>2878192Looks like extreme urban density which is the exact opposite of "cozy".
>cozy>bring weed>get disappeared by secret police and held forever in a secret jailjapan is comfy unless you violate one of their millions of strict rules
>>2878253If you need weed to enjoy a foreign country you're a lobotomite who is better off just staying on his piss soaked couch.
>>2878262bruh... I can eat cereal with a fork that doesn't mean it's the best way to do it.Amerimutts are so dumb and third world, Germany I can get it so easy and non issue but have fun with life. YOu are mind broken
>>2878249I know amerimutts are brain damage but that is perfect. If you need a coffee bottle? walk down get one not drive 1 hr to walshart.
>>2878192I just like their urban planning
>>2878197>>2878198[Thing] Japan is objectively better than [Thing] America like 95% because everything in America is designed to maximized suffering and inconvenience while everything in Japan is designed to be livable and easily traversable. If Japan's cities were built like American cities, Japanese people would be killing themselves in droves, even more than they already do. The fact Japan is competently designed and efficient is the only thing keeping those people from jumping off bridges because of their shitty slavery tier jobs.
>>2878262its a sign of broader conservatism and social intolerance for nuance and shows they are reactionary bug people who are incapable of higher complex thought
>>2878192They have Third World ugly metal shutters in Japan too? Very disappointing. The street is extremely ugly as well. Even India has big shade trees still standing all across their cities.
>>2878285Social intolerance for drug addiction and drug addicts is one of the best things about Asia. Go to goymany if you want to be surrounded by drug addicts and the nonwhite street thugs who sell the shit.
>>2878288t. rigid rulebound autist who cannot comprehend nuance or gradation germany is literally also famous for being rule bound autists who don't deal in the real world but instead in their own imagination where everything is orderly and perfect
>>2878280It would greatly improve Japs' mental health if their cities took a page from America and werent hyper optimized for space.Have you sean how tiny some apartment in Tokyo are?>>2878288Draconian laws against drugs actually have the opposite of the intended effect. When Portugal legalized weed consumption actually DROPPED... and the criminal element disappeared since you could now buy it from legit sellers rather than sketchy criminals.
>>2878192It's not, it's so fucking crowded there.Don't even get me started on the ciggy boxes and energy drink cans littered behind signs and in gardens.t. Japan traveler
no street parking is the biggest one and theratio of the width of the street and the height of the buildings are the same. not just in japan though
>>2878192it hasn't been completely infiltrated by third worlders it seems, Japan demands to train them to a certain standard at least which works sometimes or not. When I last visited Japan recently it wasn't as cozy as it once was when i last went there 20 years ago. So i'd give you that.
>>2878197Subhuman SEETHING AND FUMING unable to cope with the fact that compared to his faveloid shithole Japan is heaven on earth he will never access or emulate due to being some sort of last man subhuman either spiritually or physically brown.Only few places in China are comparable.>>2878292You can just kill drug dealers and deport smuggling foreigners forever after giving them a 5 year tour of just a medium security gaol.America is a land of dysfunction, but by all means go wild on weed preferably laced with fent.
>>2878192It's really just an urban shithole that happens to not have any homeless or drug addicts on every single corner. The lack of heroine and fentanyl freaks screaming all night and day makes that huge of a difference.

I find Japan and other Asian countries very overrated their populations are incredibly annoying stupid and superficial the only good thing about them is their technology but other than that they are horrible places to live
Japan is "safe, livable, convenient"In fact it's overwhelming and overcrdowed place where NPCs move from one place to another.Perfect for game addicted onions chugging redditors, but you will never even find someone to talk to. You will never connect with anyone there

>>2878198most of japan is an ugly sprawl dude. you know like 4 out of 5 japanese basically live in tokyo or another useless mega city lacking the cool tokyo experience.california is amazing but you posted a smug loli anime meme, so im guessing you havent left the state, probably thinking its worse than the dozens of literal ghettos and welfare states people in america actually have to live in. the problem with californias wealth is said welfare states (our loyal fellow americans!!!) who we have to send money to for no reason, and grow crops for no reason, and export "goyslop" entertainment and tech to, so they can continue shopping at the dollar general and calling states theyve never been "third world" on twitter.at least those states, they bus those homeless you hate here as a thank you.
>>2878280and how does Japan compare to the other 193 countries in the world?
>>2878192>>2878432Those are the consequences of a lack of planning
>>2878525less planned town but somehow better transit systems
>>2878525Planned cities are soulless and just painful to go to. Cities with strict grid layouts take more time to get across. They have no secret side streets to find. They have no variation. They're theoretically nice because they're easy to navigate, but it's the same as a bee hive. A place for bug people to live in. Unplanned cities grow to fit the needs of people at the time.
>>2878192Idk but it's pretty cozy>pic related. Tried this instant yakisoba today. Thought it was just a gimmick but actually it was pretty good. Threw in some shredded salad chicken for protein.
Japan suburb is the most soulless residential development in existence. I rather live in cage in big city than Japanese suburb
>>2878317What place isn't less cozy than 20 years ago though
>>2878198>I'm from California, your image is fucking stupid because you have to have some really magic nat 20 dice roll to make something look that goodyou are literally retarded, you can literally get anime keyframes just by shooting photos randomly, picrel

>>2878253their jails are actually very comfy. people commit crimes over there for no other reason other than to be incarcerated
I miss Japan can't wait to visit it again next year to visit Shikkoku, Kagoshima and Miyazaki. Maybe NE of Tokyo like Gifu or Sendai too.
>>2878198You are actually sick. I don't know how you've convinced yourself to see things in some kind of made up reality. I literally typed Hammersmith into Google and picked the first image, so not even biased and this is way more pleasing to the eye than your imagine. The UK is hell, but the average street still doesn't have crap everywhere and homeless people. Obviously you can find that but you can find nasty streets in Japan too.
>>2878262This is a slag from Hinge. I recently discovered she's literally prepared to miss out on life experiences and die barely seeing anything that life has to offer because of weed. Can't even have a decent conversation with these women. It's actually messed up

>>2878192Cuz it just is
>>2879804What makes Japan actually unique is that the rich and the poor live in the exact same neighborhoods in Japan, mostly. There are small countries where almost everyone is wealthy, but there is no other country where it is as common as in Japan for a wealthy person to live next door to someone in a run-down house. Therefore, there are basically no truly terrible streets in Japan. That’s truly special for a country with a population of over 100 million
>>2878340Based retard
>>2878192no cars parked on the roads, cozy small apartments and shops, plants and trees, powerlines that remind you of your old neighborhood, bikes everywhere, public transit, sunny bright days and cool evenings, vending machines all over the place, the smell of grilled meats in the air, mountains in the distance, comfy bars filled with locals. Idk, why is Japan so cozy?
It's because they have no zoning laws. You can buy a shop and live above it or open a shop next door to a bunch of people's homes
>>2882404That is special, however I'm sure I'm sure everyone would still go there if this wasn't the case, this just makes their thoughtless choice a better experience incidentally. I'm not doubting it's a great country. How did this economic situation come about anyway? That IS unique. It would make it more embarrassing to be poor though haha
>>2882551>It's because they have no zoning lawsretarded takeof course they have zoningpretty restrictive zoning evenlarge chunks of rural Japan are literally "non-rebuildable land" (saikenchikufuka)the only major difference to most european countries is how close you can build to your neighbor / land border and what you need on your land (i.e. parking spot minimum)only the US has this weird "no shops" zoningmost streets tourists walk through are usually>Quasi-Residentialor even (Neighborhood) Commercialwhich is pretty similar to literally every inner city core in the world (except the US)
>>2882575>You're retarded here's why I'm going to be wrong Instead of strictly separating residential and commercial areas, Japan utilizes a mixed-use approach that allows homes, small shops, and offices to coexist
>>2879805These kinds of people be like “It’s not a drug and I’m not addicted to it!”“But I can’t go more than a few days without it to feel normal”
>>2882602I don't think it's about addiction, it's just that she's such a nothing person that smoking weed is the highlight of her life. Many people are like this, usually with social media, they're interchangeable but neither genuinely addictive
It's safe.
>>2882685pussy
>>2882685I love Japan bros
>>2882685If you got told this is Thailand or China you wouldn’t find it comfy
>>2882586>Instead of strictly separating residential and commercial areas, Japan utilizes a mixed-use approach that allows homes, small shops, and offices to coexistand... this is exactly what 90% of the world doesyet they (usually) do not look like Japanzoning isn't the reason why japanese streets look like they doit is due to a few, very specific regulations that have nothing to do with zoning itselflike no on street parking, no light "rights" from neighboring plots, no underground lines for better repairabilityand of course their shitty, low quality houseswhich only looks acceptable because of the amount of care put into and the young age of the housing stockagain nothing to do with zoningzoning is not sufficient, nor directly responsible for how Japans streets look like
>>2878253>unless you violate one of their millions of strict ruleswhy would you go there if you're just going to violate the strict rules?
>>2878192Because its full of Japanese women that have never experienced a creampie before
>>2882873Shut up retard. It's the lack of zoning that makes it what it is. No other place on earth has the same lack of zoning
>>2878192no niggers or shrieking white women
>>2879781Shikoku is the best island I've been toso nice and chill

>>2883799I’m going to Japan for a year to focus on studying the language while grinding on the side for personal skills this July. I’m moderately excited, went there twice so far and I realized I’d need to learn the language to enjoy the country on a proper level so I’m working on that. Still only around n5 so far for reading. I’m really happy I locked in a private apartment in Tokyo for 500 a month. Thanks for reading my blog anon
>>2883799>Colorado>not a shitholeBreckenridge here, we got 40% of our average snowfall this last winter. Too sunny, too dry, and increasingly too hot. >>2886210Kitakamakura Station?
>>2878280>>2878292There is this weird misconception with people that Tokyo and Osaka are Japan. So let me try to explain if you guys even care. At the end WW2 there was two ideas. The first idea was the American idea Cars + Airplanes are the future, people would drive around their local area and fly long distance. The idea was that you'd live in a nice cushy Suburb home and drive to work. The other idea was the classical pre WW2 idea of Trains and Subways that dense urban areas don't have space for cars and reliable, fast, dedicated trains are the best option. Nagoya is an American city. While it has Trains it's many for profit private operated ones. Most people in Nagoya drive cars, most of the Car industry in Japan is located near Nagoya and Hamamatsu. The car lobby in this city successfully made Nagoya into a Suburbia American style. I lived in Yamanashi, Minami Alps. I had to ride a bus to a Train station to then get to work as school teacher, until a year later I managed to get a cheap Keicar. Most of Japan is car centric. But because it's Car centrist nobody visits it. Nobody fucking Visits Nagoya beyond the train lines because why would they? Same with Hamamatsu non tourist spots. The thing that makes >>2878192 possible, even with suburbia and everything else is that the average Japanese person never had the "American dream". Even in Hokkadio where land is quite literally dirt cheap the Japanese person doesn't built gigantic house with gigantic yard and dedicated garage huge garage for hobby projects.
>>2887035>NagoyaLooked up their subway real quick and it still mogs the shit out of every american city thoughbeit
>>2887035You can clearly see this guy isn't wanting for money, he has a expensive imported car a BMW, he has a brand new house, he has gigantic Kerosene tank for central heating. Ah but notice there the big divergence. The guy has a shop in suburbia right in his house! The shop only operates every other day and only from 1 pm to 6 pm meaning it's his hobby! He can just open a shop right there in the middle of the suburbia! There a liquor store just 5 minute walk from his house! There a ramen place 6 minutes. There a fucking Seicomarkt a convince store just 3 minutes walk from his house! 10 minutes from his fucking house there even a DOG CAFE called ドッグガーデンP&P. And this is why Japan beats America and even Europe. It managed to integrate commercial, residential and industrial spaces all small into a tiny walk able territory. Even in the most suburban remote places. People are fine living in 4LDKs house that are 100^2 and two floors.4LDK is a Japanese real estate layout abbreviation meaning a home with 4 bedrooms (R/rooms), plus a Living (L) room, Dining (D) room. They're fine with garages just big enough to only fit a car. They're fine with neighbors having business in their houses. They're fine with no fencing and everyone just doing their job while respecting others.
>>2887036Metropolitan Nagoya has 9.5 million people. https://www.openrailwaymap.org/If you go here you'll notice how full of holes and how far people live in Nagoya from public transport often having to rely on bikes or buses to get to stations. Here Nagoya left and Tokyo right. I think you can see how pathetic Nagoya is compared to Tokyo. This covered Subways and Trains. And you ven even see in the picture the main "arteries" of Nagoya are big highways. Tokyo has them too but you can see that all locations are covered with stations and Nagoya simply has gigantic gaps. The same would go for Osaka. While not as dense as Tokyo it's still miles ahead of Nagoya.
>>2882685Ah yes but notice how Japan isn't some magical land and they fix problems. Oh no my store front is up to the street, what if someone breaks in, I know metal shutters. Oh no what if someone steals my bike, I'll bring it inside. Oh no what if an earthquake strikes, I'll have my powerlines on the outside for quick repair.Oh no what if an earthquake strikes, I'll ahve my wiring, cabling, drainage, water and all the important stuff outside on the facade of the building for easy and quick repairs. Oh no it's a high rise what if an earthquake strikes, everyone has to have a balcony with emergency doors leading to the floor under it and we'll put the utilities and ACs there too. Same thing with oh no people are groping woman on trains, let's give them woman only trains, wow the problem is fixed if a woman decides to use the option! Japan has low crime but everyone buys really strong fortified front doors and has door security systems and everyone that owns a business dealing with cash is covered by ALSOK or another security agency.
>>2887035>the average Japanese person never had the "American dream"The "American dream" and suburbia is just a pretty and polite way to package "I don't want to live next to NIGGERS", which isn't a problem in Japan since they didn't have any jews importing african bioweapons and letting them breed before giving them rights and trying to guilt the white population about slavery when it was primarily jews running the ships AND owning the slaves.>A land without niggers scares and confuses the Amerigolem
>>2887038>and even Europecompletely delusional weeaboo takei live kinda rural (town of 3k people) in central europe in a detached house (bigger than your pic, smaller than american mcmansions)and I've got a proper Aldi within 5min walking, 3 restaurants (well 1 is kebab and one is pizza but still) within 10min, train station and coffee shop in ~7min, bus in 3minand there are multiple shops directly operated below / in housing or next to it, like a wool / yarn shop which is literally just a living room, or a small asia store in the basement, multiple barbers that live upstairs of their salonI could go on and onnot even mentioned tradespeople that have their small offices in their housesthis is literally the norm across most of Europethe outlier is clearly the US
>>2887044>how far people live in Nagoya from public transport often having to rely on bikes or buses to get to stations. But anon, buses ARE public transport
>>2887091>this is literally the norm across most of EuropeIts not. Ive traveled all thru Europe and a decent grocery is exceedingly rare, at best you get 5 shops within 10 minute walk all selling the same goyslop and drinks. A true food desert. Expect to walk forty minutes to an aldi which is still shit

After half of month in Japan my reflection is that even as total salary men wageslave spending 3/5 of my life in work I would still have possibilities to be happier here because there are wonderful ways to cope. And there are many ways to cope in Japan.Cheap automated sushi locals, good booze (legitemely prefer sake and sochu to any stronger liquor), relatively cheap, often young and hot , and very very nice whores that you can even order to your room no question asked. Absolutely no question asked at any moment, live and let live mentality, so different than puratinical, Christian views on pleasure. If you are tired of hedonistic lifestyle you go pay respect at mountain tables, have a hike and relax gazing at absolutely beautiful views of mountains and sea. This splendid nature 1-2 hours aways from big city and if you don't want to move from big city, just go to anu of the endless garden, not like you will need this "moment of quiet" often as city itself is quiet most of the time. If it rains just open umbrella but even if it rains - still warm. Just one of the many copes. In comparison to this my country of origin Poland seems to be total pussy prison. No open air restaurants with pretty waiters welcoming you to try various kinds of snacks and ocha (important). Even whores in Poland are very pretentious or detached, no comparison with Japan , country of people that truly love to serve. Much less things to do much less possible people to meet. Nature views for someone who likes hiking are not as spectacular either, and hiking is very popular in Poland for some reason so you have to walk alongside the normies and their screaming bastards and hear all kind of inane talk (it's so much more comfortable if you can't quite parse what is being spoken)
>>2887579you have no clue about japan. you paid some whores to be nice to you and think it's all sunshine and rainbows. real cute.
>>2887579You rightIgnore the crab who’s been camping this thread
