Hi, anyone that has used GoToGate can share their experience?Yesterday I booked a flight with them from Europe to Canada for 23 may with Condor airlines and the problem is that both their websites fucking sucks.GoToGate gave me the ref code (Which on the condor website is the check in number) to use on the Condor website and it seem it works since on the Condor website i got my booking number. I also submitted my API on the Condor website.I can't see my ticket (Maybe not enough time has passed since I did it only yesterday?) but from what I understand I only need my booking number to get on the plane (And the check in number to check in ofc).Is everything alright? Sorry for the dumb question but it's my first time traveling in general.
Why would you not buy directly through the airline?
>>2879045I didn't know it was this hustle using a third party.Lesson learned.
>Is everything alright? Sorry for the dumb question but it's my first time traveling in general.Go To Gate is fine I use it all the time, you just need to understand your ticket might take a few days to get to you. Use the mobile app, use their check in, it sucks but it's how they give offers to make extra cash.The biggest gripe with G2G and why it has shit reviews is people flying for the first time not realizing they got the basic bitch seat with no refunds and expected more.>my ticketyou get your ticket 24hrs before the flight, you get the reference number to see and modify your booking.>>2879045There is little point to do it that way anymore unless you are doing short layovers
>>2879102Thanks for the info>you get your ticket 24hrs before the flightSo I get the 13 digit code 24hrs before the flight, I need it in case my flght get cancelled or something.Are flights to Canada from Europe often cancelled?
>>2879105Login to the app, even the email should have a reference number for the airlines, sometimes takes a while. YOu'll get it.>Are flights to Canada from Europe often cancelled?it's up to weather anon it's impossible to say usually it's fine, some delays, who knows.
>>2879102>There is little point to do it that way anymore unless you are doing short layoversIf you have checked bags it's the same price most of the time to book direct since 3rd party sites have weird baggage pricing, and of course less hassle if anything goes wrong with layovers or anything else
>>2879116>book through 3rd party>get reference number>login to airlines website>manage booking->purchase bagswow so hard
>>2879045Not OP but sometimes some combinations just aren't available from the airline directly. This is the only instance I would use a third party.
>>2879006>can't see my ticket (Maybe not enough time has passed since I did it only yesterday?) but from what I understand I only need my booking number to get on the plane (And the check in number to check in ofc).Airline fag here. This sounds like a travel agent made an unticketed (incomplete) booking. That 6 letter code you got is your PNR. It contains your travel information. It is NOT suitsble for boarding, its simply a reservation for flight. The ticket # is 13 digits and contains your payment information. This is what you need to travel. What happens with last minute bookings is they make the PNR (reservation) take the payment on their end, but never process the transaction with the airline to complete the (ticket) purchase. You can have 100 of those 6 letter codes, but without 1 ticket number that pays the airlines, youve got nothing and call your travel agent while we give your seat away to a customer that paid the company employing me, not the travel agent who fucked up your PNR
>>2879252Wait so my Check in reference number and my booking are not enough?Also I checked the Condor website FAQ and it says:How do I get my flight tickets?You will not receive a physical ticket when you book a flight on our website. Here are the details:>After you have booked online, Condor will send you a booking confirmation. You should print this out or save it. Your booking number will be included in your booking confirmation.>We will also send you this confirmation by email.If you do not receive an e-mail confirmation, please check your spam folder.To check-in, you will need a booking confirmation with a booking number, plus valid IDs or passports for all travelers on the booking, including children and infants. We also recommend checking the visa and entry requirements of your destination country.As soon as you have checked in, you will receive a paper or digital boarding pass. This lets you board the plane. A ticket for a flight is not the same as a boarding pass.The confirmation mail by Condor has never been sent as for now but looks like I don't actually need it to get on the plane.Also I found out (But I don't know if it's actually true) that the 13 digits number may be on the boarding pass that you get only after the check in.Thanks for the info also
>>2879283Reference number is enough to find the booking itself. Airlines need the 13 digit code to issue a boarding pass. YouWill not be able to check in without a ticket number. Pnr-passenger name and record. Can exist without a ticketticket-proof of payment to the airline containing the travel itenerayBoarding pass-what your get to board the aircraft. You can have a ticket without a PNR, you can have a ticket not associated to a PNR, you need them both in harmony to get a boarding pass. This is a lot of industy jargon and the 3 phrases are often used interchanginbly. If you cant find the record on condor's website that could be a problem. Call condor, give the PNR, ask if they see a ticket number in there. If they dont you cant check in, because the backup is on the travel agents end. Get it resolved because check in will be inhibited.If you wait a day and can check in online, youre set. Backup cleared. Id not resolved in 24 hours call travel agent.
>>2879335False. I have never needed a ticket number to check in and get my boarding pass. Only the reference number for my booking. There really isn't any such thing as an airline ticket anymore. There is only a digital booking and a boarding pass.What's true is that third party bookings are going to get cancelled if the airplane is overbooked, sometimes with very little advance notice.
