Questions That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
>also known as /sqt/ (Stupid Questions Thread)

For your quick one-off questions that pertain to travel.

Long or convoluted questions should get their own thread.

Questions about popular destinations should be asked in any active thread about them.

What country/city in the Americas or Europe (Asia is too far away) should I travel to for a NYE holiday if getting laid is a priority?
Already been to Berlin and Budapest, and I failed, but I think I have more confidence now.

Is Gilgit-Baltistan really worth the hype? I like travel as comfy as possible so I'd probably rely on a private tour, so is anyone able to suggest on any agency? How many days are recommended to see the top sights? Anything else I should know before going?

26 White Slav with blonde hair, but I'm 5'8 or 9 so it cancels out. I'm overweight (though not obese), but I'm working out and should look much better by at least the end of summer.
Idk how to describe my game. I'm a KV, but I can make small talk and hold a convo. Last trip I even unlocked the courage to approach a girl at the bar. I actually think I'm pretty good at 1 on 1 chats, but in a group setting I completely fall apart.

If an airbnb is misrepresented do you actually get a refund? I know they say thats their policy but I wondered if they use weasel words so that they don't actually have to pay. >If an airbnb is misrepresented do you actually get a refund?
It depends how sever the misrepresentation is, if it's a small thing missing, probably no, if the pics are completely fake then yes. You also have to understand most people don't autisticly read every word of the listing to try to figure out how the host is trying to scam you without technically lying

I found my current place in malaysia from google maps. it's a room in a newly built mansion, kitchen and common areas are shared but no one moved in for the first two months. cost is 900 rm, or about $220 usd a month. owner agreed to 3 month lease. location is cheras in KL

in china 3 month leases are standard. i found the place by going to a real estate agent with a friend. it was a room in a new expensive apartment complex, own kitchenette and bathroom. price was 900 rmb a month, or about $110 a month. location was city center in a smaller tier 2 city

in india i walked around and sent whatsapps to the numbers that said room for rent. had an apartment in city center in the capital for about $140 a month. in india leases are month to month, you tell them you want to live out the security deposit and then you leave

in nyc i found it through craigslist. it was a 3 month that turned month to month after the initial 3 months. room with shared kitchen and bath was $800 in sunnyside queens

so it varies by location and it definitely helps to at least be able to read the local language. there's no universal platform for everywhere. if you insist on platforms you will pay a premium. the foreigners I know in KL are all paying 2-3k a month vs my 900 for their accommodation, just because they used platforms instead of going direct

I was looking to travel for the first time but all these places on booking.com say that you need a credit card when checking in, I only have a debit card.

What should I do? apartments with self check in?

I've never used a credit card on booking.com
I'm not even sure if it says "credit card" in the interface at any point but debit had always worked for me.

Are there any good sites that ACTUALLY allow for flexible searches? Sometimes I just wanna travel somewhere, but I don't care for the date too much. I just want to find the cheapest flights in a month from three-four different airports that are all within a maximum 3 hours drive from my place. And I also don't care if I depart from one airport and arrive to a different one of these four airports...

Avoid Germany and all western Europe it is NOT comfy, it is like a tinderbox waiting to explode, parks, public transit, every street lined with angry military age "refugees" looking at you with death stares. Plus they dont have A/C. Visit countries east of germany. They are all very comfy

>skip the cities in germany, go to historic towns that weren't bombed

I did that in Germany but even the small towns are full of vicious migrants and look like the star wars bar scene, you can visit places like Aschafenburg and see the memorial where a migrant stabbed a bunch of young girls. They have similar memorials in most towns. The only town that wasn't full of criminals was rothenburg ob Der tauber

Going to the UK in August, I'll be spending a few days in Oxford. During the summer the University of Oxford rents out dorm rooms to travelers. Would be cool, but we don't have passports, and it takes forever to get them, so we're confined to the Schengen area. Going to Paris next month.
First time traveling as an adult.
Should I be worried about the african immigrants?
Any general tips for traveling? Should I be keeping my passport on me at all times or is it okay to leave it where I'm staying? How do people deal with 10+ hours flights, I've only had 3hrs at most.
>>
>>2897315
>first time traveler
>Paris
>Should I be worried about the african immigrants?
not really
or not in the way you likely think (the /pol/ schizo take)

there will be a lot of people trying to sell you crap on the streets aggressively
don't look them in the eyes and if the approach firmly say no
don't stop walking (unless you want to buy something)

also be aware of pickpocketing!
never have your valuables easily accessible (like pant pockets or outer backpack pockets)
either hold them in your hand or have them stored somewhere you can't easily access
always be alert about your surroundings, especially in crowded placed

pickpocketing is the main risk, otherwise Paris is safe

>Should I be keeping my passport on me at all times
that's a personal decision and also depends on where you stay
if you're in a hostel, always wear ID as close to the body as possible and never put it away
if you have a hotel safe, it's fine to leave it
some attraction might need you passport though, so research beforehand (or just take it with you)
>>
I have one day in Austin and time for one cultural activity.
Any suggestions for good museums?
>>
>>2897319
>says it's a /pol/ schizo take
>then presents the /pol/ take himself, which is in fact only a description of reality, that African migrants are a criminal nuisance
The only difference between what you wrote and the /pol/ take is that you cower before the logical next step, not daring to suggest that maybe this is an undesirable situation that was completely avoidable and now that everyone can see it, it's time to send home this criminal nuisance.
>>
>>2897322
>b-but they are all d-dangerous criminals
retard

the pickpocketing isn't even specific to one group of immigrants
also
there's a huge qualitative difference between annoying illegal street sellers or getting pickpocketed versus getting mugged at gunpoint
the latter one won't happen in Paris

Paris isn't some dangerous 3rd world shithole
just wear your wallet close to your body and go on with your day, nothing will happen

if that's too much for you
what are you even doing on /trv/

If you are going to a shithole where phones get grabbed on the street bring a shitty phone not signed in to anything. Use your main phone when inside and shit phone outside

Has anyone visited Sofia, Bulgaria before? I'm considering going for 5 days, mainly for hiking but just to chill in the city too. Is it worth the visit? How much would I need to take for 5 days?
>>
I'm genuinely fed up of life and feel like I'm going insane with boredom/stress/monotony. Will a city break with some hikes in a different country help or will I just feel exactly the same?

Planning a trip to Shanghai and would like some feedback
>10 days total
>October (9th to the 19th, to avoid Golden Week)
>Shanghai mainly
>planning to visit Suzhou for the gardens
>a day or two in Guangzhou

Thoughts on this plan? Suggestions? I'm currently amassing shit to do or visit in Shanghai too.
It's intentionally easy-going because I'll be traveling with family who can't walk crazy far and will need breaks
>>
>>2898210
>Guangzhou
fuck I meant Hangzhou
>>
>>2898141
My problems the opposite. I just fuck wageing off after a week because it's a joke and akin to slavery, so I'm just living on savings for years, recently fucked another job off. Just rinse and repeat.

>Is it worth the visit?
It's my favorite place in Eastern Europe, but I have unlimited travel time/budget and care about vibes more than sites, if you're expecting to be blown away you'll be disappointed, I just find the city center cozy since there's enough going on to not be boring and it wasn't destroyed by war/communism/tourism/migration like many places, also there's many nice parks and beautiful women.
>>
I'm moving to Dublin for University soon. Are there a big Anime scene in there? Or gaming scene?

is "budgetyourtrip" reliable to check for costs?

I live in central europe, want to do a cheap 1 week (or less) trip, was thinking of Poland/Moldova, but I am not so much looking for this recommendation but just a website that is reliable for planning costs.

>is "budgetyourtrip" reliable to check for costs?
no this shit is retarded and way off

"How much does it cost to travel to Kao-hsiung?
A typical traveler spends $126 (NT$4,056) per day on a trip to Kao-hsiung. This is the average daily price for a vacation in Kao-hsiung based on the expenses of other visitors.

Past travelers have spent, on average for one day:

$55 (NT$1,772) on meals
$11 (NT$368) on local transportation
$113 (NT$3,637) on hotels
A one-week trip to Kao-hsiung for two people costs, on average, $1,768 (NT$56,784). This includes accommodation, food, local transportation, and sightseeing.

All of these average travel prices have been collected from thousands of other travelers to help you plan your own travel budget."

before i found my apartment here i was living in a hostel for $15 a night. I spent about $10 a day on food eating out mostly. And $2 a day on transportation getting around the city. My rent is $145 a month in this city. this shit they're quoting is for paypig retards.
>I live in central europe, want to do a cheap 1 week (or less) trip, was thinking of Poland/Moldova, but I am not so much looking for this recommendation but just a website that is reliable for planning costs.
you have to do everything piecemeal. find the cheapest platform for accommodations and look at what they have available today in the places you're trying to go. find the cheapest way to get there, probably some form of bus, and find out how much that costs. food and beer etc can vary but worst case scenario you get it at the supermarket instead of the restaurant
>>
>>2899054
You are still overthinking it. $5 transport, $10 food plus accommodation look on booking for prices, takes 5 minutes to budget
>>
>>2899086
>$10 food plus accommodation
depends on the country. good luck doing that in iceland
>>
>>2899139
It can be done anywhere. I met some faggot YouTuber in Georgia who ate nothing but bread and coca cola

Houston is a fetid swamp. I want to go somewhere cool(er) and dry for a few weeks where I can just enjoy being outside during the day. Any suggestions?
>>
I'm going to be in Seattle this week and looking for some recommendations. I arrive Thursday and leave early Sunday and I'm staying near the Space needle. I have a tour of the underground city on Friday afternoon and Seafair on Saturday. Thinking of maybe kayaking earlier on Friday and don't have much else planned. Any suggestions?
>>
Is one afternoon and evening enough for Tallinn if I'm just interested in the old town?
>>
>>2899270
>I arrive Thursday and leave early Sunday and I'm staying near the Space needle.
Probably one of the worst places to stay. Absolute shittiest part of the city. Homeless encampments everywhere and basically a main place to avoid.
Pike Place Market is good, Gas Works Park is alright. Hiking is good, the Van Gogh museum is ok if you're into that

Has anyone had any trouble bringing powdered supplements across borders? I wanna bring an unopened 1KG bag of psylium husk to Singapore. Are they likely to confiscate it?

anyone found some creative ways to travel around Canada?

seems like there is nothing to do, and any decent hotel is at least $130 cad per night

visiting nice skate parks is the only thing I can come up with

I like my city, its very comfy, so I'm not dabbing on Canada, just Canada travel

>I like my city, its very comfy, so I'm not dabbing on Canada, just Canada travel
For domestic travel its best to just get a job in a different city if you want to experience more of the country
>>
>>2899333
No, I'm a tall and white and groom myself, and am entering the country to take up a highly skilled position there.

Maybe you have a point

I've been to 50 countries (looking like you) and just go thru "nothing to declare" line and they just wave you by, just don't bring any fresh fruit or raw monkey. It's hard for normies to comprehend the dumb shit Africans and Asians try to bring thru the border

Just go to Quebec. Only Provence that's unique and not just America jr.
