We are planning to rent an old house in Japan in the suburbs or country for 3 months every year. Is this possible?

It's possible just stupidly expensive
>inb4 JUST BUY AN AKIYA
lol no
>>

It's not expensive—in fact, it's pretty cheap.
>>
>>2883481
those houses only cost like $8k

Japanese houses get moldy if you're gone for a few weeks. I do not get the obsession millennials have with wanting to live in Japan.

>We
who is we?
matters a lot for viability, I assume just you and your gf / bf / wife / husband because for a family with little kids that would be madness
>are planning to rent an old house in Japan in the suburbs or country
you likely mean suburbs
japanese countryside can get REALLY rural, like >1h drive to next bigger city with proper shopping
>for 3 months every year. Is this possible?
possible? Yes.
livable? Depends on what you want to do there.

If you avoid Winter (older houses usually have zero insulation and only shit heating, really uncomfortable)
as foreigner, you can easily physically survive in almost any part of Japan for 3month with all your basic needs met
but depending where you are and how well you speak the language, you're gonna be miserable, bored and lonely
even if you speak the language, 3months very short for genuine connection

also finding a rental might be difficult
you may find it easier to just pay for the whole year (which is likely still very cheap)

can confirm that japanese houses are cold as fuck

Search Airbnb using keywords such as "古民家", "民泊", "kominka", "renovated farmhouse"

>who is we?
My and my daddy boyfriend.
He pays for all my expanses and i let him give me good anal in exchange. It's a win-win situation really.

That's Asian buildings in general. When it's cold outside, they're cold inside. The idea of keeping an entire home interior at 70 degrees all winter long is wasteful American behavior.

In Korea, the entire room is heated using a traditional underfloor heating system called ondol. In northern China, there is a traditional heat-storage system known as a huokang.

ondol is a meme and only works in apartments if everyone is using it
