Usually I wouldn't recommend leaving the US. But if you're already flush with money and living in temporary lodging, then yes you should go overseas. But don't expect to keep busy. Your life will be one of idleness surrounded by people who don't speak your language. They will tolerate you and do business with you, but they won't understand why you live the way you do. So don't go expecting some kind of human connection with the locals. Those who do always end up disappointed. Also, be mobile, visit difficult mountainous areas, go on treks, test yourself. If you start rotting drinking drugging in one place, it becomes a bad habit which is very difficult to kick.

and for some cities, if that's your style and you have the money (for example SF is one of the most livable cities in the world, if you have enough money to live in one of the nice neighborhoods)

OP is saying he wants to try life outside of the US. As in a potential permanent move. That's not the same thing as "no goal" travel like backpacking around Europe, staying in hostels and partying every night.

If he has the freedom to see/experience other places why shouldn't he. He has a source of income and is healthy. Could try it out for a couple of years and see what happens.
