Have any of you been on (or are you thinking of going on) an Interrail/Eurail trip?Basically an Interrail/Eurail ticket entitles you to train journeys across Europe. Cheap tickets give you travel within one country, but the better tickets allow you to get trains across nearly all European countries. You can get a ticket giving you unlimited train travel across nearly all of Europe for a month, for example.I went on an Interrail trip a few years ago and it was very good, I went to various European countries.Thoughts on the idea? Have you done this yourself, and did you like it?

Have you done this yourself, and did you like it?For it to be a good value you either need to live on the train or plan to mostly take slower trains to smaller towns and cities that don't need seat reservations. It might be a good deal if you're eligible for the youth price. Because of the seat reservation bullshit on the major train lines, and some operators not being included in the pass, I've found it's cheaper and less hassle to just buy normal tickets
>>2884505Interesting. When I did it, I didn't need any seat reservations, even going between major cities (e.g. between Amsterdam and Berlin). Maybe it's different now. It was a great trip though, seeing so many different countries.
>>2884535same. Only time I needed one was for one of the routes between Koln and Bruges. A few extra euro but it was all right. For the ticket, I recommend only getting it for a couple of countries and spending your time and ticket money on those areas. Benelux Germany pass was excellent.
Depends on your intended use to be honest and the countries you'll primarily use it in. If you have a very set itinerary it is probably cheaper to plan out your travel days and buy in advance. However where it shines is the freedom and flexibility it gives you to pick and choose your travel days less than 24 hours in advance. The last thing to note is that it is an amazing value for money in countries with top tier train networks. If you plan to spend most your time in Germany, France, Italy ect then yes its amazing. Switzerland in particular, almost free access to the best train network in the world. It really doesn't make sense in central and eastern countries like the Balkans or Baltics where the train networks are almost non-existent or lackluster at best. If you're looking for absolute dirt cheap travel flixbus is still the way to go. Tickets are rarely over 30 euros even day of. Flixbus makes me want to KMS tho
>>2884478I used the plus pass which was $555 for an under 27 youth. I took 7 train trips between major cities (Berlin, Munich, Warsaw, Rome, Switzerland, etc) and because I had the plus pass all the rides i just booked on the website and didn't even have to pay for reservations. I would say it's worth it.
