It's actually so bad of an issue that their trash reaches our beaches in Dalmatia, and causes issues in top tourist destinations. I didn't even know this, and I've lived in Istria my whole life. We then have to clean up their trash, even though the EU sends them money for this to not happen.

Are you a naive zoomer? Everyone has always said that Albania is a cheap Third World tier country, so yeah of course it's going to look like a village when you are in the village. The gentrification of Albania is a very recent phenomenon, and the locals have begun to push back against it. Good for them. Keep Albania cheap and trashy.

The point of interest is merely incidental to the landscape. You go for the journey. Rural peoples always want to hear a purpose for visiting their land. They treat you much more kindly when you specify a nearby place that you want to go and see.
