Comfy or pass?
>>2889506It’s nice if you like hiking. Hiking is dangerous and people die every year. Beaches are bed, water is cold, it’s Atlantic. Food is good, weather is nice enough. I haven’t went out there in 15 years so can’t tell you that.Spanish islands are better.Had a family member living there so would visit every year.
>>2889506Car is recommended so you can getto start/end point of hikes. I always prefered azores which are less turisty, have more ground to see and theres certain 'lonly island' feel to it when it comes to smaller ones like flores or pico.
>>2889876also this, be very careful driving on Madeira, the roads are so fucking retarded its not even funny. Highway tunnels that have roundabout immediately after and you cant see it because of corner. Highway exit and entrances 10 meters apart without a proper lane to slow down or speed up, you are immediately in the highspeed traffic lane.Roads that are too narrow to let you pass with anything that is not an economical car.At the same time some of the roads are pretty steap so you wont be bale to go up them even in first gear if your car is too heavy or engine is not strong enough. That being said, public transport is utter shit so you should definitely get a car, just be careful.
>>2889506I went for a couple weeks with my German ex-gf, so you already know we went hiking every single day. 99% of other tourists were German. Amazing trails, great vibe in the small towns, Funchal seemed OK too. Didn't have a car so it was a little annoying to get around but doable with buses. I'm from a cold, rainy region so I didn't mind that it was a bit wet / not "beach" weather, if you go to Madeira don't expect that. But it was amazing for hiking and the views were incredible. I've traveled all over the world and could see myself living there. Would be a nice, quiet life. If I lived in Europe I'd be there often, I think. I remember staying in guesthouses for like 25-30 euros a night, albeit 4 years ago. We hiked up Pico Grande right as the clouds rolled in and were right above an endless blanket of cloud. That was amazing. Wish I had a photo for youComfy as fuck, go
