Mongering is just as valid a discussion topic as sightseeing and far more rewarding. Sometimes you even get presents that last 7-10 days with treatment.
>>
I know it's popular to hate on Ichiran, but I still think its way better than Ippudo. Ichiran is like high tier junk food, while Ippudo is like a mid tier chain restaurant. I still eat Ichiran a few times every trip. Of course neither is as good as a regular non chain Ramen place, but I think Ichiran gets more hate than it deserves and Ippudo is overrated.
>>
>>2889544
I've never gotten the hype around ramen period. The ingredients never have enough time to soak in all the flavors since ramen places are always rushing you so the noodles and meat are always kind of bland and the broth is way too salty. I also never feel like a single bowl has enough actual food but the salt content is so high it makes going through multiple bowls to be a chore. And don't "muh authentic artisanal ramen" me since I've eaten bowls from kyushuu to hokkaido and found them all mid.

Ramen to me is just Japanese home grown fast food that's high in salt, cholesterol and calories. Akin to hamburgers for Americans.
On my last trip to Japan I never bothered with their ramen. There are so many other cheap, delicious things you can have in Japan anyway
>>
>>2889547
Yeah its definitely a guilty pleasure. I love miso Ramen with a nice big block of butter in it. Definitely not healthy but I'd I'm on holiday I don't really care about being healthy. I prefer Mazemen these days. I think Ramen is just easy, when you can't be fucked and just want to be in and out in 15 minutes and get on with your day/night. Its perfect for that.
>>
>>2889555
It is common knowledge in Japan that authentic ramen from a restaurant is more of a guilty pleasure than a proper daily meal, and eating it too often is bad for your health.
>>
Cold udon with tamago and miso soup are both better than ramen
>>
>>2889544
>>2889547
Japanese people don't get the hype around ramen either. It's junk food to them.
>>
The best foods I've experienced in Japan are champon in nagasaki and potato croquets in hokkaido.
>>
I had ramen every night for almost two weeks and it bloated the fuck out of me.
I had to remove a link from the watch I bought there when I got home lol
>>
>>2889558
Of course, instant ramen is also considered junk food. While it's a staple for lazy bachelors and broke students,
most people usually just eat it as a quick weekend lunch or a snack between meals when they get a bit hungry.

Asked last thread but got no answer.

What's anons' thoughts on the Seto Islands daytrippable from Takamatsu? Shodoshima is the biggest with the most going on but Ogi and Megi are also popular.
>>
>>2889595
I've only been to Megi Island. It was a brief ferry ride from Takamatsu dock IIRC. Spent several hours there hiking up to the sights. Not a ton of amenities there when I went. Took the ferry back. It was pretty fun.
>>
>>2889573
For me it's Japanese BBQ and Osaka-style Kushikatsu.
>>
>>2889547
>I also never feel like a single bowl has enough actual food but the salt content is so high it makes going through multiple bowls to be a chore.
That's why you can order extra noodles for fatfucks like you
>>
>>2889598
Did you find Megi worth it? What were your personal highlights beyond just enjoying the hike?

Going back-and-forth with Chat GPT about details it suggested Ogi and Megi as a package deal for a day trip, or going to Shodo's inland rice fields.

I'd be going in January so I'm leaning towards Shodo and haven't seen anyone online really have an opinion of Teshima or Naoshima.

I went to Naoshima and Teshima in March.
Naoshima is an alright, if slightly expensive day wandering the no-cars-allowed art museum zone. Some of them are nice, some are like 3 bare rooms, and you will want tickets in advance for the most popular one. The natual coastline is quite nice as well. Overall it depends on your tolerance for modern "art".

Teshima on the other hand is an absolute scam with a single 'exhibit' that got my socks wet and then I forgot my bag and had to walk 15 mins back up the hill I just walked down (I don't have the balance to ride a bike) and then it rained for the whole rest of the afternoon so I just sat at the ferry terminal rather than visit the last one or two spots to see. The only thing that redeemed Teshima was the jap granny that gave me some kumquats off her tree because I said her garden was nice while taking photos of the flowers (pic related). It seems I forgot to take a photo of her sakura tree despite her telling me to, but I liked the flowers more and the sakura wasn't really in bloom by then. Oh, I guess the 'Needle Factory' art house on Teshima was alright too but again there was very little worth spending a whole day there for, I basically only did it because I had to take the ferry from Naoshima to Uno anyway to take the train further south and decided to get an evening train and go Nao -> Te -> Uno

Both of them were utterly mogged by the Onomichi Art Museum though, which was still running the '100 Views of Kyoto: Four Seasons Depicted' exhibit with 83 paintings on loan from Kyoto (out of like 119 or something) until May 6th. Honestly I didn't even plan to visit the art museum I just had time to kill before an afternoon ferry so I checked it out cause I was up the hill anyway for the temples and it was a real "Finally, some good fucking food" moment.
>>
>>2889605
I found the Momotaro/Oni stuff fascinating so I enjoyed that. If you were to do Ogijima too I would probably pack a lunch and have on comfortable shoes. It would probably take up the whole day I imagine.
Shodoshima has monkeys apparently and was the setting for a manga. If you like that more, then you may enjoy that.

Chest bags worth it for 2 weeks in japan? I hate looking like I'm carrying a small village worth of shit in one of those large travel backpacks, not to mention after 2 hours my shoulders and back will be dead at only 11am. My plan is to leave basically everything in the hotels, and just walk around with nothing but one of these chest slings. Anybody else do this sort of "minimalist" travel?
>>
>>2889685
yes but get an even smaller one, i only carried my passport, some cash, wallet and a charger. only used a backpack during degen shopping trips

you can hide it under a jumper/shirt etc

Thanks anon, saved me bothering to consider them. I'd been to Hiroshima already but hadn't been to the art museum because the person I was with really wanted to go to the atomic bomb museum & memorial instead. Maybe next time I go to Hiroshima.

>>2889615
>pack a lunch and have on comfortable shoes
Walking is no problem for me, especially in cold weather I could hike all day. There's some decent looking cafés & lunch restaurants on both islands, I'd rather get something to eat from the locals than bring a currypan.

Not really interested in monkeys over museums, historic architecture and nice scenery.

>>2889685
My chest purse was my life for my whole trip this year. I brought minimal shit so I could carry all my really important stuff in the pouch on my person and left my backpack with nothing but clothes and cheap souvenirs back at the hotel without any worries.

I got a really cheap and ugly one that made me look like a jackass but it served my purposes and I wasn't there to impress randos so I didn't care.

I am going to Japan for the first time solo in a few months. I know a bit of Japanese and tried to use apps like HelloTalk to meet people and practice but it just seems so fake and botted, it's full of 'women' posting selfies going "It's really lonely living in today's world, is it just me?" and 200 replies going "Hi lets chat and learn English!". I went to nagashima spa land since I heard it's a pretty based amusement park. It was definitely less crowded than Universal or Disney but my first line really soured my experience. I was in line for some coaster and I was behind maybe four or five Indians. That's how it started at least. They kept waving their friends over and before I knew it like 20 stinking Indians were cutting in front of me while I stood there like a chuck trying not to make a scene. Literally where can I go to get away from these creatures?

if i were to take the shinkansen to osaka, how many days do you think i should stay down there, to experience dotonbori, nara, osaka castle, and gin/kinkakuji? my stay in japan's a total of ten days, so i'm thinking three days osaka/kyoto?
>>
Spur of the moment, I bought tickets to Tokyo from Bangkok (really felt like my two weeks allocated was just too long. One week was enough.) so now I've got 5 days. Anyone want to hang during that time? I'm fuckinf retarded and into plamo so we can do whatever and weeb out, but also can knock back a few and do whatever. that is an extremely tight schedule imo, but potentially doable if you did something like
day 1: kyoto (gin/kinkakujin)
day 2: nara (this is a day trip, should stick to a hotel in kyoto or osaka)
day 3: osaka (osaka castle, dotonbori)
if this is your first time i'd consider adding 1-2 days in either city, even if that means leaving out one city entirely. for my first trip i skipped osaka in favor of kyoto and found no shortage of things to do and see.

damn, i might just cut nara out then, since it's the one that's most out of the way, to make more time for osaka and kyoto. thank you for the input
also, outside of the deer park, what else does nara have, that would give me good reason to dedicate an entire day?
>>
>>2890424
> what else does nara have that would give me good reason to dedicate an entire day
for me, todai-ji and kasuga shrine are unskippable if you're doing nara at all. you could probably be done by 1pm-2pm if you got there as things opened. the deer park itself is "mostly" skippable, or at least you'll see plenty of deer as you make your way to other attractions and i wouldn't include it as a major attraction unto itself. i agree with skipping it if the other cities are your priorities.
>>
Nagoya is actually pretty comfy. If I had to pick a city to stay at long term I'd probably be here.

So how rude is it actually calling random japanese people with the chan suffix? If she reads this, sorry ai-san.
>>
>>2890445
It's not the variety of things to do that I think makes it attractive. It has all the things a modern Japanese large metropolis would have, it's just that the people are friendlier than in Tokyo and there's less foreigners. There's also just three subways so I find navigating it all to be simple to understand. Grid layout around the central park is easy too.
>>
Anyone into IC card collecting?
>>
>>2890452
it's not rude unless she is older than you, in which case why would you, because it forces her to call you -kun in return and makes you sound like a kid. Jap people don't care about keigo and drop it instantly all the time if they like you. You just got AMOG'd by the Norwegian bull. You probably have brown eyes.
>>
>>2890458
>there's less foreigners
reminder everyone should ignore hikiomori opinions, why the fuck do you want to live anywhere long term without other foreigners who speak your native tongue
>>
>>2890523
Because I go to Japan to get away from shitty western culture. The more foreigners there are the more baggage they being along with them including being loud, littering, not giving a shit about lines, dressing like shit, smelling awful, and pushing for more foreigners to move in. Go around some parts of Tokyo and you hardly spot a single Japanese person. If you want to live somewhere where they speak your tongue stay home. If you want to enjoy Japanese peace and order then you have to live in a place with as few foreigners as possible
>>
>>2890525
>>2890523
I never hang out with foreigners when I'm abroad and never talk in English to them but from my experience I get treated better in places where there are more foreigners. I'm less of a circus animal and more of a human to the locals. And I stay in shape and speak the languages well and mog all of the other foreigners. Maybe if you go to a place with foreigners, you're getting evaluated in comparison to weebs and losers, but if you go to a place with no foreigners you're getting evaluated against Brad Pitt and instagram models from their algorithm
>>
>>2890526
That's in your head. In places where you're a novelty all white guys look the same to them so they think you look like Brad Pitt. I also find people much more open to trying to talk to me in Japanese whereas in Tokyo they just assume you don't know anything and stumble their way through English. As someone trying to learn Japanese it's way more helpful.

Last time I went anywhere notably touristed it was just the usual chinese and tourgroup boomers, and that wa sin Kyoto where it should have been full of the worst influencers and the like. Oh, there was one jeet (assumedly, brown of some sort jeet by behaviour) married to a white woman with a kid, he was digging a hole in the dirt with his foot to toss his banana peel away. Some jap boomer nearby started telling him off in japanese and the jeet just kinda stared like 'what di i do wrong, im feeding da earth this im compost saar' (his argument).
I walked over and put the peel in a plastic bag I had spare, robbed him of all his izzat and got a broken english 'You welcome Japan any time!' from the jap boomer it was kinda funny. Jeet was seething so hard he saw me later that day and came up trying to start a fight and have a whine about it, SAAR WHY YOU DO THAT I HELP PLANET SAAR. I forget if I posted about this when it happened. This was mid-spring by the way.

But anyway I would say the fad has lowered and either way you can always escape the fad by going to more of a nowhere prefecture.

Is Amanohashidate worth the trip? It looks like a 3 hr trip via JR from Kyoto, so it's a pretty heavy commitment to go up there, but it looks pretty from the photos. I don't know how much there is to do there other than walk between the two ends or if it's worth spending the night there. I'm not in a hurry, and this isn't my first trip to Japan or anything, but I don't want to waste an entire day on some tourist trap.

I was thinking about leaving Kyoto in the early morning, getting there before noon, wandering around for two or three hours, and then taking another 3hr train to Kinosaki to spend the night there. But if it's worth spending more time there, I guess I would spend the night there and maybe go to Kinosaki the day after. Or maybe I should do it in the opposite direction and go to Kinosaki first and then to Amanohashidate before coming back to Kyoto for the Shinkansen.
>>

Anyone have any experience renting the monthly/3 month rent apartments?

I'm looking to stay in Osaka for probably a couple of months and get some work done while I relax.
I usually travel to Vietnam or China because I can stay in fairly nice hotels there for about 600 a month while eating the complementary breakfast, but Jap hotels seem a bit overpriced to me for long stays so I was looking into renting instead.

Any reputable websites? known scams I should avoid?

Japs either assume you don't speak any Japanese or you're fluent. If you start speaking a few basic things they just start rambling on for like five minutes before asking you a question and while you're still processing everything they switch and try again in baby english.

I was there in 2012, roughly a year after the major tsunami/earthquake. Was last in Tokyo in 2024. Being a foreigner was definitely a little more novel back in the 2010s. As far as tourism stuff goes there was a more "you're on your own" type of vibe to things. On the flip-side people were more helpful because of lower tourism fatigue.
In 2012 data plan/cell phone stuff was more annoying to setup. The Japanese Yen was equal to/slightly above USD at the time. Japan had a reputation for being expensive among US boomers so you didn't see a lot of Americans casually traveling there. Tourism numbers overall were lower but that was also the peak of Chinese hordes randomly showing up in tour buses.
>>

I went in 2013, and lived there for 3 years in the countryside, 1 year in Tokyo.
The biggest change I guess by 2016 was all the go-proers and selfie-stickers recording the Shibuya crossing and arcades. Them freaking out about seeing people in kimonos and yukatas. It was pretty cringe.
Even then, when I first arrived I'd hear stories from the boomers about the Japanese 90's economic boom and how easy it was to be a gaijin back then.
Quite a few of them were karate-kas and hated the new generation of weebs and animu nerds showing up.
The Japs were freaking out about Trump starting a nuclear war with North Korea.

(which is still good advice) but literally you can take a 10 minute train away from the center of tokyo and be the only white person for miles. tourists DO NOT stray from the tik tok spots. part of this is because they don't know the language and how to navigate.
>>
>>2891690

I just finished my 5th trip about a month ago, and even though I was there a month I only took about 2000 photos (compared to like 5000 a year earlier) and I kinda feel like I didn't do a whole lot. Starting to just do the same things over and over even though I went to new places. Japan is becoming routine for me. I also basically just spend most days in cities going to kissatens and restaurants. But I try to go out to more rural areas at least a few times.

It's not like I'm not enjoying it, Japan just doesn't have the same spark for me it used to. It just feels comfy but it's a laid back comfy where I don't feel motivated to expand my horizons.

Not everyone has unlimited vacation time or wants to spend 17 years in a single town just to scratch the surface. A week is plenty for visiting one area of anywhere on earth.

Go to slowboat jazz club, honestly one of the best jazz clubs in the world
>>
>>2891785
My favourite memories of my trip to Japan were just rambling around the rural areas. Unbelievably comfy, I fully expected to be itching to get back to the neon of Tokyo but I thoroughly enjoyed myself
>>
>>2891785
Time to visit other countries. Japan is nice but it's pretty uniform no matter where you go. Some countries are much more dynamic and you'll feel more variety by going an hour in any direction. In Japan, whether you're in Beppu or Naha or Osaka, the towns themselves feel very similar. Architecture is the same throughout the country. Nature is the thing where Japan offers a good amount of variety, but even that is less diverse compared to some countries.
>>
>>2892198
I’ve never been to a jazz club but they always seem like a comfy environment. What’s special about Slow Boat specifically?
>>
>>2892212

I agree but I'm actually married to a japanese woman so Japan is kinda where we go at least once a year now, visit the family, etc. I'm only an average middle class chud so I can't just remote work and have unlimited PTO, so I gotta ration my days.

I love Japan but I haven't felt super excited for traveling in a while. Last time, we did 2 days in Taiwan and I felt more excited than I had in years
>>
Any good izakaya chains to try for my first trip?
>>
>>2892321
>chains
Brah literally walk into a random izakaya, ill never understand why people are so focused on specific restaurants and then theres a long ass line outside some sushi place while theres another perfectly fine one down the street and around the corner with no wait.

You dont need to go to the place that some youtuber made a video about or that is highly rated on tabelog, pretty much ANY random sushi, ramen, udon, izakaya, etc... place will be an enjoyable dining experience for a first time traveler, just walk into random places, have fun, form your own favorites

This is like someone saying they're coming to america and asking if chilis, tgi fridays or applebees is better; yeah i know which one is the best (it's chilis and it isnt even fucking close) but what if there's only an applebees near where you're staying? You gonna go out of your way to go to chilis? Its all similar enough
>>
>>2892327
>never understand why people are so focused on specific restaurants and then theres a long ass line outside some sushi place while theres another perfectly fine one down the street and around the corner with no wait
yeah but japan isn't really the place to get indignant about it, those fuckers love waiting in lines for something that's between 0 and 5% better than the one next door
>>
>>2892329
Nah im just saying this shits ridiculous, and i 100% see tourists doing it, like i walk past a line. Go around the block, enjoy a meal at a similarly priced/type of food place, am walking back and the same motherfuckers are still sitting in line.

If you want to waste chunks of your vacation waiting in a line for subpercentile slightly better food (if even) or to say you ate at the same place as your favorite youtuber you do you, im just gonna call you gay and retarded
>>
>>2891900
Why am I seeing this on every board on this site? We get it you're a jew
>>
>>2892354
Its not just a tourist thing, Japanese love standing in lines. If something is popular Japs will go out of their way to consoom.
>>
>>2892530
Yeah, i remember laying in my capsule watching a reality TV show visit a pancake shop. Got up, walked down the street. Saw a line of Japs waiting to get into said pancake shop. It was surreal.
>>
>>2892354
>>2892530
>>2892579

I keep tricking myself into joining these lines or buying the japanese hype about certain places. The last time was some scallop tsukemen place in Tokyo where you have to get there at like 8 am to put your name down. Waited for 2 hours, put my name down, came back for my reservation at 12pm or so. It was... pretty standard tsukemen with added pretension and them telling me the correct way to eat it. Sometimes Japanese people huff their own farts too much about this stuff. I know at least two tsukemen places that were better, one of them always has a long line at lunch though but at least I don't need to fucking go there twice in one day.
>>
>>2892599
Japanese people line up because it's some shop that was on TV. They don't go because it's good. They go because a D tier celebrity ate it and said "umai". When I see long lines, I know the shop is mid. I refuse to wait now because it's always a disappointment. 10 minutes is the max I'll endure.
>>
>>2892599

It's a made up term on par with "ceremonial" matcha referring to a spot (typically a bar) where locals go to look foreigners to have a one night stand with.
The most common one is named "Hub", a British themed pub. The irony is these places are filled with 99% foreigners, primarily tourists, because of this "gaijin hunter" delusion.
If I was a slut looking for gaijin cock, I would simply just hop on Bumble where I can pick and choose without having to deal with fedora lords. As a manwhore, this was by far the easiest and quickest option.

Why is there no love for Okinawa on /jpg/? If you scuba dive or snorkel there's so many spots that easily beat most places in the world. Sunabe seawall has diving that you can literally access from the street next your hotel picrel. Does the presence of American freedom forces scare off the euronormies?

True, that works too. Hell even Tokyo can be boiled down to NYC hoods so much. Shibuya,-Times square, Shinjuku/Kabukicho-Greenwich Village, Harijuku-Soho, Ginza-5th Ave/Upper east side and so on.
Hell i'm in Okinawa and its basically the Hawaii of Japan the only difference is they eat spam on rice vs spam on toast.

This. I live in Tokyo and usually go to Okinawa every year. I usually stay in Naha for the food & nightlife, but take the bus up to Kadena and snorkel from the seawall every day, then shower at the Anytime Fitness there before heading back to Naha to eat and drink. It's pretty amazing how good it is considering it's so close to Naha, with the zogbot jets constantly flying over.

Okinawa probably still costs more than a third is shithole and if you're a begpacker or worse a m*nger like some of the fags on here they'd rather go to the thirdie shithole then make some cope about how it's totally better for XYZ other reason. Not denying you can't get good diving elsewhere but we both know it's not dive quality that was the deciding factor for these 'people'.

To be fair it wasn't the deciding factor for me either, I'm in Ishigaki right now and going to Naha tomorrow and I decided on Okinawa over some other country because it was easier than applying for a re-entry permit on my work holiday+ knowing a bit of language already.

I enjoy them and usually book them when possible since they're about the same price as any other hotel. Kobe had the best one I've been to since the water was comfy and actually came from a real onsen. Others are just bathhouses and yeah you have to be nude. Reminds me of when I was in some APA with a spa and this white zoomer was shyly walking around with his bathing suit. Personally I love walking around with my dick swinging and watching the Japs trying to avoid eye contact since I'm above average.
>>
>>2893734
I highly recommend getting a hotel with a sento in it.
It's just an added cultural experience to do at night. And if you haven't been to a japanese public bath before, its a lot more convenient and less intimidating then going straight into a grimey little backstreet showa-era sento (which you should also do at least once).
I think Dormy inn is famous for having decent baths in their hotel chains. A lot of these places have an indoor bath and another bath in a covered patio area, so you can bathe in the night air.
You absolutely do have to be naked. Trying to get foreigners to follow japanese bath etiquette has always been a point of contention over there.

You have to put your slippers on the shoe rack and keep track of them with the little numbered tag.
You have to have both your big towel and your little towel.
You have to be fully naked.
You have to wash yourself at the little stations.
You have to put your hand towel on your head while you are in the bath.
You have to relax in the special area afterwards.
You have to drink a flavored milk or yakult in one go and go AAAAH! like in anime

>bar is not that big, but we are like 15-20 people in there
>shop owner says, that the female worker is his girlfriend and I would say they own the bar
>he leaves for smoking
>suddenly girl talks with the guy
>5min later a insta account, that has no posts, only follows 2 people and has one follower, follows the dude
Literal ntr story out of the books ffs. I need to ask if the female insta account is following her bf, if not then it‘s truly a cruel world.

Reasons to choose the Kintetsu Limited Express “Phoenix” even though it takes twice as long as the Shinkansen from Nagoya to Osaka:
• All seats are equipped with backrests, so you can recline as far as you like without worrying about the person in front of you.
• You can sit in top-of-the-line premium seats (genuine leather with power-adjustable leg rests) at a lower fare than the Shinkansen.
• You can travel directly to “Namba (Minami),” Osaka’s bustling downtown area, without having to transfer at Shin-Osaka Station.

I planned a day for it without thinking too critically since I had other shit on my mind to organise (scuba and fishing trips, fireworks) but Junglia seriously fucking sucks.
If you ever even think of going there, don't. Dog shit stain on Okinawa. Wish I had read the google negative reviews before I bought a ticket. Felt like Disney level prices for 40+ minute lines on a dead day, shit public transport that cuts your day off and hour before closing and a lottery system for the adventure park 'rides' you can experience far cheaper somewhere else. And some dinosaur animatronics, but USJ utterly mogs them in terms of 'dinosaur safari ride' and the rest of USJ is pretty good also. Especially compared to this crap.

There's coomer links at the top of the thread. You can search by region, city, industry, and then find individual shops. I don't think it can be any easier. Stop being lazy

But these are just for Tokyo no? Yeah basically I want to know how it is, what to look out for, are the girls heavily deviating, should I book online or can I go with the dude outside, is the selection the same. Shit like that. Just don‘t wanna spent like 30-40k and end up with a ugly girl, who doesn‘t fuck.

If you're too dumb to go through the links then there's no helping you. Just stick to touts who will hold your hand and give you some mid chubby vietnamese girl to fuck. People like you who are so stupid they're bound to create problems are the reason they double the prices for Japanese girls at establishments

After my Japan trip, I've wanted to move there.
What kind of job could I even secure as a foreigner? I'm not a citizen of any Anglophone countries (Finland) and lack a degree so I can't be a TEFLcel. I'm just a security guard.
Have there been any instances of foreigners getting a work visa as security guards?

Retail or hospitality at the lower levels. I mean, that's what all the Indians and Filipinos are doing. If you're really skilled in IT you could find work if you brush up on your Japanese. N2 seems to be the minimum for most real professions.
>>
>>2894335
>>2894346
You can even just search soapland on google maps and it'll show you where they are.
>>
>>2894384
I would strongly suggest not doing that and instead seeing if you can get a job in Europe that pays well enough you can do annual long vacations there or do remote work while on a 90 day visa or something.

Nowhere stays fun when it becomes your mundane day-to-day so you'd basically be ruining the place as a vacation destination. Especially since you're Finnish so you already have most of the good day-to-day aspects of Japan aside from the convenience stores and high quality public transit.

tl;dr Don't. I mean, you really can't.

All low skill jobs (factory work, service industry, anything that doesn't require more than 3 brain cells) are done through hiring agencies from countries with labor agreements with Japan, so you're out. Exceptions are those who are already here on a different visa, usually student, working part time.
All white collar / professional visas have a hard requirement of at least holding a bachelor's degree or 10 years of relevant work experience.
Next is HSP, which works for non degree holders. As the name implies, Highly Skilled Professional, being a security guard isn't really on the list.
Assuming you have the basic eligibility requirements for either the HSP or any of the white collar visa categories, you will then have to find and convince a company to hire you and sponsor your COE/visa.

Your only realistic options are:
1. Working holiday visa if that's an option for your country, and even then most work-holiday visas require you to be under a certain age.
2. Student visa if you can afford to support yourself. You can work part time too - if you want to get your shit together and if you have the time/money, studying and getting a degree while also learning Japanese can be a path for long term residency.
You will need a lot of money and more than that you need to grit your teeth and keep your head down. It's going to be rough, it will take several years, you're going to be miserable, and chances are you're going to go back before your first year here even ends.

Last but not the least, you can use the rope method and hope that you isekai as a vending machine in Japan.

What are some good ways to have some Realtraveler ™ adventures in JP?
Learning the language and making friends? Renting a car or bicycle and going into small towns and off the beaten path nature spots? Work exchange programs? Skibum all winter?

Under no circumstances should you buy one from Termu or SHEIN.

Maybe you can get on with the Finnish embassy in Tokyo or something like that.
Most of the foreigners I met living here not in TEFL stuff, were translators or white collar type dudes. I think you will need some proficiency in Japanese to lad a job like that.
The blue collar dude I met was a Vietnamese factory worker also taking free Japanese lessons. I dunno how he got on there.
You could try the working holiday visa to get on somewhere. Even for security, I think they'd want you to have some Japanese proficiency.

Last trip I spoke to exactly 0 people while visiting.
How do I change that? I'm pretty socially retarded.

leaving tomorrow night to sapporo and still on the fence wrt bringing some non legal mushrooms in my checked bag. I have to think the odds of being discovered are very low and I could conceivably argue that they are simply food items.

Whenever someone says that they had a great spontaneous conversation with a local, it's usually while they were in a city in the west (Osaka, Hiroshima, Fukuoka). People in Tokyo are all autistic
