Avoid Talbot street entirely and avoid O'Connell street when it gets dark, if you see cunts in tracksuits avoid them. It's not Afghanistan out here but plenty of gurriers and drugies around in our fair capital in the city centre.

I'd recommend getting a tour of Trinity college/Book of Kells, the tour of both is reasonably priced and pretty interesting. Lots of art stuff in that same area if you're into that, including the National Gallery, Trinity gallery, Orion gallery. You can do a circle around south of Trinity that hits up a bunch of galleries + parks with statues (Merrion square park + Stephens green), can do some googling about it.

Check Resident Advisor (for DJs), Eventbrite, Ticketmaster or general event guides to see what's on while you're there, there might be something you're interested in.

Temple bar is the definition of a tourist trap, if you want pubs go to any that aren't there. Guinness storehouse is a classic tourist activity, might as well do that too. Check if there's any GAA matches on in Croke Park as well.

Personally I'm a fan of that area around Liffey Street/Abbey Street where Wigwam and Yamamori Tengu are, some cool spots there for pints, music and food. Drury street is where all the young people go if you want some vibes.

You're likely to run into plenty of rain in Autumn, if it's August you might get some sun, if it's October it'll be cold and rainy, so bring a waterproof jacket and layers.

Any parts of Dublin outside of the city centre aren't worth going to really. You might want to head outside the city for a day trip, could easily get a train to different places like Cork or Galway if you'd like.
