How do you manage to gain sufficient money to travel anyways?

I just started a line cook job that provides me $18 per hour, so I am currently broke as shit.
Despite all this I plan on traveling to NYC from central Kentucky this November for a weekend to a concert.

What worries me is if the money saved from now to then be enough, so I was wondering exactly for methods or ways to make extra money that YOU know about, hell, I would even whore myself out to make some money.

>I just started a line cook job that provides me $18 per hour, so I am currently broke as shit.
then you're retarded. I was making $20, $21, and $24 an hour at each of my three jobs in NYC. And after 5 months I had $15k+ saved
>>
I didn't travel at 19, but I saved so I could travel for 3 months of Europe at 21. It may not happen over night, but you'll get there, Now I'm 33, an oldfag and make enough to travel twice a year
>>

>$3000+ saved per month
Yeah, that's putting in well over 40 hours a week. Too much. Shekelberg's economic machine doesn't deserve that much of my effort.
>>2890790
You're going to have to deal with a lot of delayed gratification. Buses to NYC should be easy to come by, and hopefully you know somebody in the city that you will be meeting for the concert, so you won't have to pay for lodging.

What expenses do you have at 19 that this isn't plenty?

assume you live with a parent rather than on your own. If so, save your money and travel as soon as you can. If you are going to NYC, stay in New Jersey—a lot of people commute from there to the city, and it is much cheaper. Just make sure you have a plan for what you want to do once you're there.

First, look into walkable cities and consider making them weekend getaways. After you have been at your job for six months to a year, ask your boss for a three-day weekend to enjoy a longer trip. I highly recommend saving $10,000 to $20,000, quitting your job, and picking a region or country in the world to fully explore. $10,000 USD is plenty to enjoy Japan for a month or two if not more, especially if you travel on a budget and stay outside of Tokyo. Have fun, kid traveling is much more magical when you are young.

P.S. Only quit your job when it makes sense. Obviously, if you are trying to build a career, feeding a family, or saving up for other major goals, do not quit.

I already worked like a demon for 100 days straight to bump my savings up above $10,000. As long as my travel spending remains frugal, I will always stay above 10K and will never have to repeat that experience.

IDK what the point of walking around random towns in east-central America is. You're just wasting gas money taking long drives every weekend to trudge around lame places like Hopkinsville, Russelville, Scottsville and Tompkinsville.

And no, OP shouldn't stay in fucking New Jersey. Get a hostel in NYC instead.
>>
>>2891015
By walkable, I was thinking NYC, Boston, SF, Seattle lol

And NJ is cheaper, sorry bro, I did that, and I had fun

get a hostel in jersey city then

You act like it's a traumatic experience. If my account ever dips below $5k, I'm flying back to the US and working. If I don't like the city I choose then I'm going demon mode to get out ASAP

Yes, working non-stop as a wageslave is a soul-destroying experience. It's different if you are working to provide for your family or manifest some grand future goal, but if you are alone and only slaving away to stack a measly bit of money, resentment will inevitably build. Everyone fakes positivity toward you when you work hard, but it's only "my my, what a fine slave you are". They rake in effortless cash from their investment schemes which is then used to impel you to labor until you're ready to drop from exhaustion. Anyway, that has been my experience. Willingness and ability to work hard means getting put on the worst jobs that nobody else wants to do.
>when you end up in a shit job in a shit city, knuckle down instead of finding something new
I tried that and it was the bad choice. Couldn't hardly save any money. $1200 in three months. Couldn't get a second job because their work demands were always last-minute and unpredictable. Wake up 5 AM to go to work and then at 5:30 get a text saying "don't come in today". Fucking bullshit.

No I agree with everything. If there is little money to be made definitely go to the next city. I have a more cynical view of the US and have given up on looking for some hidden gem chud paradise somewhere in the sticks. I go straight to the big cities that have large labor markets. Me not liking a city basically equates to me being on a dryspell while I'm there.

Another parasitic loser who thinks his dishwasher job is super valuable compared to the skilled class who build and maintain society

Oh, you mean landlords who take a piece of paper from the bank and then bring it to a realtor in order to acquire another piece of paper which claims that they have a right to $2000/month payment from whoever lives in the house?

Wow, what an enormous societal contribution this landlord provided by shuffling paper around!

I struggle with the teamwork aspect of things. The new hire is always expected to be a complete cuck who is desperate to please everyone and conform to the prevailing workplace norms. Independent solo work is much more my kind of thing, but my skillsets and experience for such work are severely lacking. Still, there are many jobs which I am capable of getting done. So instead of applying for jobs online and lining up a new cuck cage on return to America, I've decided to wing it and try for a more freeform hobo-style life instead. Small town white Americans can be difficult and quirky people, but they are still much better to deal with than the assorted mutts of the big city. I'd prefer being around the German-Americans of the upper Midwest because they are very practical-minded, and among the most honest of any people in the world. But experience has shown that treating bosses or coworkers as friends is the wrong choice. They always turn against me when I start speaking my mind.

You're over-romanticizing the countryside fatties. At their core they're not good people at all. The big cities are better because in the diverse urban areas there's more job security and less sucking dick because no one there is competent. If you are the only competent guy they'll give you freedom to choose your own hours and let you get away with anything.

I spent 6 years in the military then 4 years as a private contractor to afford a global nomad lifestyle and also make money through investing.

The key is to find some sort of job that pays your living expenses, like living on a boat or at an expeditionary location with housing given to you.

You can do that with no skills, you just need to be willing to go live in shit conditions for awhile.
>>
>>2891849
>At their core they're not good people at all.
No, they are actually good people. You just hate them because you are a retarded leftist and think anyone who doesn't throw themselves at your feet and worship you for your internet slacktivism, is evil.

Maybe stop spending it on drugs.

Hit the mark I see. Country folk are averse to weird little commie faggots with a drug and homosexuality habit, so its no surprise you got the cold shoulder.

That seems plenty. I make 12€/h as a security guard, live on my own in the capital with all the expenses, and still after two years of working had enough to blow 5000€ on a Japan trip, and this comes right after buying a 2000€ car and now about to make a downpayment on 5% of a house.
Really, just work crazy hours and minimize retarded unnecessary spending.
>t. 21 year old with a 'gap year' as an unpaid conscript where I lost money by still having to pay my bills
