Something about mexican aesthetics makes it very soulful and baits me to visit that country just to walk through their streets and visit their small towns. Is that a retarded idea? Can I get very cheap hotel rooms and food?
Traveling by bus through Mexico is very much doable, and there are plenty of pleasant towns to walk around in. Their intercity buses are not too cheap, but super comfy and modern. If you can't spring for a plane ticket to Asia, why not cross the border and spend some time wandering around. First step of course is to pay the $45 fee and get your immigration form. >but Mexico is visa-free for Americans!LOL no, it's not. You have to pay the fee and then retain the FMM with your passport. Used to be you could leave Mexico without getting stamped out, retain your FMM, then re-enter on a subsequent trip without passing through immigration at the border. IDK about now. It's been a few years since I last crossed.>very cheap hotel rooms and foodNo, Mexico is not very cheap. It's definitely more expensive than Thailand. You can still find cheap hotels in expensive cities, but they will be filthy rat-warrens that reek of sewage shit and still cost $15 per night. Worse than any place I stayed in India desu.Food is not particularly cheap either, but there is a lot of price variation (which usually corresponds to quality of ingredients). The poorer parts of the country tend to be a lot cheaper, but they are located far from the US border.Eating peyote in Real de Catorce used to be a thing. But I've heard that the peyote hunters have basically wiped out all the native peyote from the area. Sad. If you're in Arizona, Magdalena del Kino is a great little Mexican town to visit. People are a little cagey due to cartel violence. Mexicans sometimes seem hostile, but they're just being wary around a stranger. Mexicans leave their women behind when they commit crimes, so the reception you get as a solo male is very different from how a couple would be treated.
The rooms are mediocre, the food is mediocre. They literally eat out of plastic buckets of various sizes . The infrastructure is shit. The climate is shit. The people and neighborhoods sketchy. The bus stations are shit. The busses are very nice. You will constantly be watched and followed by criminals looking to rob you. It is rather interesting but not comfy at all
Thinking of visiting for 2 weeks. Gonna do CDMX to Oaxaca more than likely. I like the idea of mexico too op. They have really nice colonial towns everywhere.
>>2891813Mexico isn't Colombia. Mexican youths are surprisingly well-behaved. Only in some shithole neighborhoods full of migrants from elsewhere are muggings a regular occurrence. That's not the case in the centros historicos. People go out well after dark, especially on weekends. The food varies greatly in quality and tastiness. You will have to spend upwards of $10 USD to get a good dinner at a restaurant. Cheap out and that's what you're going to get. A burrito full of slimy meat scraps and fly-blown cabbage that makes your gut grumble for hours afterwards. Sidewalks are generally walkable, but in many commercial districts they are a complete hodgepodge, which every business building their own piece of sidewalk at a different height from the rest. Vicious potholes are common all over the roads of Mexico. You can never relax when driving. >>2891885Plenty to see in that area. You can even do a loop from CDMX - Puebla - Xalapa or Orizaba - Veracruz - Tuxtepec - Ixtlan de Juarez - Oaxaca. That route will take you through lush rainforests, past the base of a 19000' snowcapped volcano, and across a desert full of giant cacti. If cities are your primary interest, take the bus. If nature is your primary interest, rent a car and check out some of the smaller towns. Bus travel is definitely a lot less stress than driving in Mexico. Eastern Mexico is relatively cheap for food and lodging.
>>2891813Mexicanas are hotter than gooks though
>>2892857debatable but you should go with whoever is most enthusiastic about wanting to fuck you. as a blond hair blue eyed white guy gooks like me more than spics. by a mile.
>>2892870One thing i noticed in mexico (and i get female attention almost everywhere ) is the more abo Mexicans dont even look at you , like they either know you are out of their league or they dont recognize you as the same species
>>2892857mexican girls are not attractive lolespecially if you're in like cdmx they look like williamsburg/silver lake roasties...the hot ones were exported to the border states or had plastic surgery before getting married off to some cartelfag go to colombia/venezuela or argentina if you want to be a coomer
>>2892917Go to the fashion street of the market and check out all the slender teenies staffing their mom's clothing stalls. They are the prettiest girls in Mexico. You never see them wearing shorts, but to compensate they wear short tops that show off their slender brown tummies. Boys are always lingering around like bees drawn to nectar. >>2892871They never showed the slightest interest in me, however.
>>2891778I found Monterrey to have streets that are a dump but not dangerous, so as long as you don't find the dangerous parts of towns/cities that's what you should expect.
>>2892951There's some really great hikes to be had in the mountains near Monterrey, but without your own car it's hard to get there. I hated driving in Monterrey, the traffic is awful and the sprawl seems endless. It didn't feel particularly dangerous to me, but you still have to take precautions. You'll notice that Mexicans are never fully relaxed in public, though a Saturday/Sunday night in the plaza is as close as they come to feeling at ease. Almost everybody you look at while walking the streets will look back at you, because their spidey senses alert them that somebody is eyeing them up.
>>2892871I got the same thing but South American ones are not like that
