Is it worth traveling here? Is it cheap or expensive?

Belize is moderately expensive compared to the rest of Central America. While it is generally cheaper than neighboring Costa Rica, it costs significantly more than Mexico. Expect to spend about $70 to $150 USD per day on a budget, and $250+ USD per day for mid-range travel.

Those expense estimators are useless and don't reflect the actual on-the-ground cost of wandering around a country. At best they reflect the cost of tourist excursions.

Chiapas is one of the poorest states in Mexico, and Guatemala is also extremely poor & cheap, so it does make sense that Belize is a lot pricier. It's also extremely violent and full of blacks, so IDK why you would even go there unless not speaking Spanish is really that important to you.

Belize is only good for nature and pyramids. You won't get the classic central american backpacker experience there, unless you go to San Ignacio, at which point you might as well just go to Guatemala. Water activities in Belize are stupid expensive, but then it is one of the best coral reef systems in the world. Remember you can always talk to local fishermen about going out to the reef, but you should haggle hard.

>$70 to $150 USD per day
$70 should easily cover hostel, meals, beer and transport.

yeah I never really felt safe around those shady Mennonite communities, you never know when you're gonna get mugged at scythepoint

>Is it worth
