planning on going to Japan next year for the first time (10 days) with a budget of $3,700
Still yet to book anything an unsure where's the best place to stay and if i should try to visit multiple places or just stay in new york
>>
*Tokyo not new york XD

10 days in Tokyo? For that price? You'll really be slumming it. You need to budget AT LEAST $800-$1000 a day.
>>
>>2894100
>800-1000
Don't listen to do this poorfag. You need at least 2-3000 USD a day.

Not sure how these people get by. That's just barely enough to cover food.

with trains you can get pretty far from the city on a day trip (for example you can visit the Nikko park) so you can easily fill 10 days while staying only in Tokyo, but most people also visit Kyoto and Osaka on their first trip to Japan and imo it's worth it, Kyoto especially has a lot of nice parks and temples (going up Fushimi Inari after dark was one of my favourite experiences there)
>>
Bus and trains charge by distance, it isn't one ticket per ride it increases.

Trains are labeled and can be in the same tracks, ask if you aren't sure

Bus you must get on at the front and off in the middle

You can ask staff to warm up your food at convenience stores, often they ask you automatically, use translator if you aren't sure

Also don't shop anywhere with thirdie staff it just encourages them to genocide Japan with sub 70 iq specimens

Japan is generally clean and well maintained and respects quiet so even a budget hotel will be nice. Bathtubs are tub but short be aware, if you can fit, watch your step

Kaiten sushi, ramen and curry bars are cheap and allow solo dining, other places do not

AVOID Roppongi at all costs, fucking African territory and overpriced area full of actual trash people

Don't bother with photos everything has been photographed before unless you want one with yourself in it for memories but even then will you ever look at it again

Highly recommend learning basic conversational Japanese you open yourself to better treatment and more opportunities

Try some novelty cafe or hotel, it's one thing actually unique to Japan still

Get data wifi doesn't work anywhere and not free but this is a given when traveling

Trash bins aren't frequent so you carry it or toss it in a public bathroom

Locals do not talk to strangers, anyone talking to you is up to no good
>small exceptions might be asking where the metro station is, if the train goes this way, to take a photo for them or the time but it's only old people or other tourists

Never go anywhere with anyone who asks

You don't need to carry or show passport to anyone on the street ever not even police

Idk just fyi Japan is burnt out on foreigners now so you won't get the nice experience of the past
>>
Also I would seriously try to go somewhere else less visited and more scenic but I'd need to know your time limit, budget is abysmal for long distance, but possible if you score budget airlines like Peach
>>
>>2894141
it costs that much just to get on the train

Fake news all your advice is trash

This has to be the lamest /trv/ meme in years
I have the sneaking suspicion you're the schizo guy calling everyone paypigs across this whole board

Roppongi is kino wtf are you saying
>>

Nta but the locals in Japan really are sick of tourists. People mistake the rules-based politeness and civility of Japanese people with kindness, when they are completely different things. Will Japanese people be overtly hostile to you? Very unlikely unless you’re behaving like a buffoon. Will they make you feel welcome with open arms, and do they enjoy your presence? Absolutely not.

Roppongi is disgusting and actually dangerous and full of scams. I got roofied at Geronimo shot bar there. Seventh Heaven “strip club” charges like 10k yen for a 3 minute lap dance and the girls don’t even take their tops off.

Bears win, bulls win, and (pay)pigs get slaughtered.

These are the types of mentally disabled people going to Japan these days. No wonder locals are sick of tourists.

>Idk just fyi Japan is burnt out on foreigners now so you won't get the nice experience of the past

Nah, They're starting to get fed up with low-effort tourist that crowd at the 4 or 5 most typical spots in all of Japan.

Any touristy country en Europe receives something like 6x/8x more foreign tourists per capita than Japan, the problem in Japan isn't the amount of tourist, but with the fact that almost everyone of them seem to just crowd in the same spots...

You don't even have to think of "off the beaten path" places, just avoid or at least don't center your trip around those typical places, even most areas of Kyoto are OK... literally 90% of Japan is free of mass tourism and more than half of that has minimal tourism.
>>
>>2894542

I see the problem you only go to 3 places in Japan that are crowded and then because you are annoyed you project that on Japanese people who live tourism
>>
>>2894542
Europe gets "tourists" that are people who live 10 km on the other side of the border coming over for 2 days. The cultures are basically identical. Japan gets people from around the world spending weeks at a time making a mess everywhere.

Even today there's a news article about how much the country is tired of tourists and their inability to not sit in the middle of the road and eat:

Europe gets tourists from Africa that go on welfare and rape, Europe loves those tourists

Japan gets tourists that oay $5000 a week and are respectful, Japan loves those tourists
>>
>>2894554
The search for the respectful tourists continues
>>
>>2894556
Everyone loves American tourists. Im in the stans now and its amazing the love i get from regular folk
>>
>>2894554
Americans like their homegrown redblooded All-American Negroes more than they like White European tourists. And it's all because of superficial pop culture references they can make with each other
>>
>>2894579
Incel vibes
>>
>>2894095
That's a doable budget. Your biggest expense will be flights. If I were you, go for an APA business hotel or if you can handle it a capsule hotel. Both are cheap and get the job done. You can take the metro to get everywhere cheap, visit shrines, temples, and do some city touring. For food you may have to be a little bit cheap about that but it's Japan so even the cheap food is still not half bad.
>>
>>2894561
Yes, the stans. Famous for being overtouristed. Very relevant to Japan. I'm sure Iranians and North Koreans also love Americans and welcome them with open arms right now because the stans like Americans.
>>
>>2894600
Everyone loves American tourists sorry not sorry that makes you seethe
