Going to be in San Diego for a couple days a few weeks from now. Had planned to see the zoo, Midway, and naval museum. Unfortunately my trip doesn't align with any Petco games because I probably would have went to one. Other than that, are there any particular areas, restaurants, beaches etc californianons would suggest visiting?

from here my whole life, not transplant nor parents or grandparents
its all transplants, nobody will be social unless u go to clubs, no matter how crowded it is. dont expect to link up with californians outside of like... tinder?
im not into any of the social scenes or food stuff, so my reccomendations:

balboa park is a must/the zoo/japanese friendship garden. in fact, drive up to wild animal park too if they offer a double pass, same as the zoo but more of a safari.
for areas, id reccomend the clairemont/mira mesa area for anything asian. im not a food type, but theres tons of good food in those areas, feels local.

for rich areas coronado is way more chill to hang out in than la jolla/north county cost, but both are good and will only really have local day trippers on the weekends.
pb and ob are cool surf towns, lot more "california" left. (again this city is 70%+ transplants, 90%+ if ur only counting whites)
our water is currently polluted thanks to a sewage plant in mexico blowing up 3 years ago. do not go in the water.

i have nostolgic love for my first hometown area of mt helix, but the only places id reccomend in east county are mt. helix, and then driving in to ramona/julian on a day trip beautiful biome diversity and nice areas. also very "californian" but not in the way people know in the rest of the us. this is very hidden gem.
another wonderful one is to take the COASTAL "highway" up to carlsbad from la jolla, stop along the way, get in n out or taco stand or whatever u wanna see.

avoid any spic area, not out of racism, but out of there being fuck all interesting or beautiful (basically avoid anything downtown and south of it.)
pretty much everywhere central is boring 4 story appartment blocks with annoying traffic and people, skip downtown if ur not going to petco or the convention center. the historic mission is very pretty, older than america. was the church i was taken to as a little catholic boy.

As also an SD local, first guy pretty much nailed it.

A few add-ons;

Moonlight beach and Coronado beach are the best beaches if you’re gonna spend the day at the beach. Both will be insanely packed due to peak szn but worth it.

San Diego’s Mexican food is superior to all other Mexican food in the world besides in Mexico itself. Keep this in mind and search for good spots online, they’re everywhere.

Northpark is pretty cool, lots of good breweries/cafes/restaurants.

If you’re into hiking check out Cowles Mountain for a good view and to check some SDSU babes. Sneaky rec for a hike is a place called Elfin Forest in north county, very cool.

Also seconding the other SDbros suggestion to cruise up the 101 coastal highway.

I’ve always found La Jolla unbearably cunty but it’s worth seeing if you haven’t been. Encinitas and Solana Beach are my favorite beach towns

As a yuropoor who visited sd for a day trip, la Jolla was very nice it remembered me to some American TV series being filmed in cali where everyone is just rich and has nice houses.

I was just briefly in the center, also where all the bars are, it seemed kind of boring and dead for a city of such a size. I guess much of the social scene is spread out.

point loma, torrey pines, la jolla if you enjoy nature and scenery. encinitas for beach town. if you are interested in horse racing, del mar.
