Cheap/safe places to day-hike in a tropical rainforest? Like a typical American state park; drive out, park in the lot, and walk 5-10 miles on a dirt trail with some nice vistas or a waterfall or something. Not really interested in a guided "see the elephants" safari tour or whatever, just want to walk through the jungle and admire the views. Preferably South/Central America, I'm in the northeast US so plane tickets there are drastically cheaper than Africa or SEA. I'm also pasty white so ideally not somewhere where being an obvious American tourist puts a target on your back.

>>2894489appalachia is a humid ass jungle in parts of it and people don't realize that, you can be stuck in some muddy rhododendron jungle and good luck escaping

Also the coffee axis south of Medellin, great temp for hiking although can be cloudyPeru, the mountains near Cusco/MP dip right into the jungle and it's a nice vibe. Can do day hikes or multi day treks. This also applies to Ecuador but no MPThat's about all your options that are worth a damn in the region. I bet Venezuela has some good stuff too but, y'know
>>2894485mild temp cloud forests are much nicer for hiking than real deal sweltering tropical rainforests
>>2894485Cheap idk. Safe just go to China and head to the Xishuangbanna tropical forest. Probably the only tropical rainforest region in the world where you have easy access to first world amenities and security.
