Burger from /g/ here, work told us last week we are moving WFH as our building lease expires. Only requirement is we have to stay in the USA, 85k/yr no debt to speak of 30y/o single.I have no debt to speak of but don't have too much in savings ~20k, looking to move from my high cost of living area(west coast) was thinking Texas since they don't have income tax. I don't own too much stuff and was thinking selling it or giving it away, but not sure how to travel and stay in places to see if I like it. I'd like some place with all 4 seasons if possible, never lived in a place that gets proper snow. Pretty much a nerd so social life isn't a big deal for me but I would like something with decent food and bars.Guess my question is, what's the best way to find a place on the cheap. Any sites that can give overall tax burdens and cost of living? Mainly looking to build up around 100k in savings before I figure out what to do next. I kind of want to YOLO to Houston as I hear that's the next up and coming but not sure, apartment prices seem so low compared to LA. Is there a hotel chain that does long stays for cheap to get a feel for the area first?
>>2895930craigslist rent a room to sample the area for cheap. if you want to buy a house get your real estate license (it's not that hard) so you can access the listings directly and not have to pay an agent. imo college towns have the best balance of cost of living while still having women to fuckplaces where you need to drive are kind of fool's gold because owning a car is a big ongoing expense
>>2895944Did you even bother reading the OP? I don't really care about fucking women, focusing on saving money and having a good place to live is.>college townlol no, why would I want that dogshit? Having lived in one that's the last stuff I want to be bothered with anymore.>owning a car is a big ongoing expenseYou're kidding right? If you own a car property taxes are nothing, if you're WFH gas is nothing, having a car paid off means insurance is basically nothing. It's a net positive overall especially if at any point I intend to change jobs saying "yeah I have transportation" for any in office job is a must. It's a net benefit in the flexibility you have to see things, don't drive like a retard and maintenance costs are pretty low.
>>2895946then i'm sure there's a big gay community in houston. you can get gangbanged in the back of your minicooper there just like la. faggit commifornia nigger.
>>2895948Anon I've lived by colleges all my adult life, I'm tired of it. I'm tired of dealing with the fake caring of politics that are room temperatures takes, I don't want to deal with people you can tell will be karens in 3 years, I don't wanna go into clubs and deal with that noise, I'm tired of the local restaurants being inaccessible because protest/game/activism <thing> happening, and most importantly tired of the petty and not so petty crime around them.Last girl I dated was right out of college and wanted to hang around, wouldn't touch rent wouldn't get a job because "none respect my mental health ya know?", and other stupid games. Maybe I am the 30 year old boomer stereotype or maybe it's just because I am a tech nerd, but I'm not down to play those kinds of games anymore especially if I am WFH and can't use the excuse of "traffic" or extra work being the reason I couldn't get home. Not sure what you're on about with gay shit, it's just personal preference as an adult.
>>2895963All of your grievances are against LA, not against literalwho college towns
>>2895971You're actually retarded if you think ASU is a nothing college for women and parties, especialy with Mill Ave and Scottsdale around. You're dumb as fuck dude. The only slightly good idea was check craigslist but I'd rather just use airbnb at that point.
>>2895974alright. move to wakanda then. dumb commiefornia nigger. at least you faggits gentrify
>>2895930nobody wants commiefornian faggots moving to their town, so you won't get any recommendations from me. Yeah sure, pick fucking Houston of all places to live, you deserve it.
>>2895930Just move to midwest if you want seasons and lower costs of living
>>2895930>what's the best way to find a place on the cheap. You know what you're looking for better than we do and it will be more constructive for you to argue with the computer than us
>>2896527>use AI>grabs reports from tabloid articles about my hekkin good places>recommends mini california (AKA austin)no
