Don't believe the shit talkers. The California coast is a world-class travel destination. Fascinating human diversity, and people are nice if you are nice to them. Discuss your trip here.

I walked out of LAX at 2:45 AM, covering 3 miles to the beach behind the airport. It felt good to be on the move after 16 hours of flying and 4 hours of loitering in the arrivals area. Quite a few people were on the roads. Tolerance and inclusion is the city's culture. Do your thing, even if it's walking on the beach with your luggage at the crack of dawn. Nobody's gonna start trouble with you because of who you are. Feels pretty safe desu.

WiFi here is easily 10x faster than anything I used in Asia. Of course, a bunk isn't cheap. I paid $42 at a hostel in downtoen Santa Monica, and they let me check in at 9 AM for a lovely morning nap. 10 miles of walking across pleasant coastal communities to get here, the longest I've ever carried my bags on a single trip leg. Yes, there are also city buses, but I wanted to make my own way across the landscape. So quiet, you'd never know this was le heckin big city.

A friendly Sri Lankan woman chatted at length with me. On the way here, a Hispanic cutie smiled and then turned away shyly as we crossed paths. Other hostel visitors seem awkward, like they prefer not to be dragged into conversation. East Asian guys on the street seem to lack confidence outside of their friend group. America with all its big colorful characters must be a little uncomfortable for them. Traveling India and talking with many strangers has given me easy confidence, but only when they approach first. I don't impose my company on others as a general rule.

Picrel cost exactly $50 at the downtown supermarket two blocks away.

There was a comedy event here, but everyone was sober, and the eight comedians kept losing their train of humor. One beautiful girl next to the podium paid close attention but didn't crack a smile the whole event. I think her snobbishness psyched out the guys. The fit white girls of LA are extremely snobbish, unless you're a handsome Chad (black or otherwise). You're not even worthy of being noticed as a human being in their eyes. Doesn't bother me, because I would never think of dating a $20-smoothie-drinking, fitness attire wearing LA white girl.

Starlux Airlines gets an A+. Easily the best-run airline I've flown yet, for a reasonable airfare too.

The coastal vegetation scent produces a natural high, I swear. Of course it won't last if you stick around to face the economic realities of living in this hugely overpriced place as a low-paid, low-SMV white man. A fleeting visit is best for enjoying the SoCal coast as one of the crowning achievements of Anglo-Judaic civilization. Being without a car feels pretty good though, it's no wonder the bums all flock here to chill out and "vibe" whatever they're feeling. Less appealing for vanlife, however. Parking fees are awful here, there is zero shade in the lots, and crackdowns on car sleeping are prevalent.

The hostel will also let me stay after checkout to cook some lunch before departing on the Amtrak at 5 PM. Nice people. Leftist DEI sure feels good when you are part of the inclusive culture. I'm not one of those insecure /pol/tards who acts like his pink butthole makes him something special.

It's real, and no it's not muh sex beast meme either. It's soft-spoken, grinning black men being gigasimps for mediocre annoying Janes, giving them nonstop positive attention just for existing as a white woman. Black women are too much for these guys. Too loud and disrespectful. White women are kind to their simps.

Lots of free events here if you want to hang out. Cold approach people who seem receptive. California is very casual, you can often start a conversation with a random remark. Can't do that in a suburban hell where everyone is zooming around in a car, always busy and deeply suspicious of anyone who approaches on foot.
>>2896906
Don't leave your bike parked too long in public, or picrel will happen.

IDK, after 130 Asian towns I now feel like seeing some of America as a vagabond living rough and free in the July warmth. Eight solid hours of sleep is for kids and pussies. I only really need one REM sleep episode per night to feel refreshed, and that might be 30-40 minutes only. Being able to get rest without a plush mattress and stay mentally sound is a good survival skill. Goddam mosquitoes might be a dealbreaker on those Midwest nights...

You get what you pay for with this hostel, which costs half the price of a shitty motel room in the South LA ghetto. Very impressive kitchen and common areas, ultra soft beds, free tours and events. There's quite a few grumpy oldfags staying here. My dorm was all 21-35 year old guys. Nobody says a single word to each other inside the room. Some are as awkward as a pastor sneaking out of a whorehouse on Brothel Row. Zoomer social anxiety is out of hand.

America as a vagabond might be the hardest in the world simply based on price. It's definitely interesting and a lot to see though

airbnb is being a dick locking me out of my account, asking for the expiration date of some long-lost credit card and a new phone number for verification. Reckon I'll have to get a phone plan soon. You can't do shit without a number, and you can't rely on WiFi to be freely available either.

airbnb has some sweet rental rooms in owner-occupied homes for less than the crappy trucker motel on the edge of town, so I definitely want to have the airbnb option available. Meeting the hosts is a big plus, they are usually nice people who enjoy talking to travelspergs.
>>2896927
Only time will tell what this trip is gonna cost, because daily spending as a US vagabond can be very inconsistent. There are ways to skimp on costs when traveling the USA, but they can require a stroke of luck in encountering the right people, which seems easier when you're on foot with your bags, very obviously a travelbum to everyone passing by. Traveling in a car you pass as any other busy-busy NPC. Nobody notices you, and with solo onward travel so much easier than socially engaging with locals, you're tempted to keep going after a cursory walk around town.

Picrel the end of I-10. They did a good job of hiding the freeway as it passes through downtown.

A bunch of young white cuties showing some skin poured into the common area while I was talking to the Sri Lankan (who looked to be 30 or so and very homely compared to them). She didn't like how my eyes kept wandering - no smiles or flirting anymore - and cut off the conversation with a goodbye as soon as she ate the last bite of her breakfast. Tomorrow she flies to, where else, NYC. Typical foreigner's USA dream trip. I wanted to ask her travel budget for her 21 day trip but didn't get to.

I escaped from LA on the Amtrak ride from hell. What a shitshow. Started off leaving my food behind in the hostel, had to jump off the bus and walk 2 miles back to get it, leaving me all sweaty for the ride. Then they called boarding prematurely, showed up with everyone else and no boarding staff were present. And then the big one, a flash flood in the fucking driest desert outside of Death Valley flooding the tracks and stopping traffic for 14 fucking hours. They gave us some free snacks and beef stew as a cope lolol. Dinner on board is $45, breakfast $20, so having a sack of food really saves my travel budget.

How bout that 9:30 am arrival tho?
>check in
>take a shower
>*knock knock* "checkout is 11 am, get a move on anon"
Fingers crossed the motel manager will be nice and bump my booking to the next night.

It was like that pre-covid too. No one ever talks to each other at hostels. People aren't interested in human interaction in general since smartphones and social media became a thing.
>>
>>2897311
On one hand I'm grateful I got to travel around in hostels years ago before the social media apocalypse so I got some alright memories from those travels and met lots of people in them which we went out together.

On the other I just seethe about how social media and apps make meeting young women so EASY if you're young and fit into their filters and have social profiles already set up. Not having this is frustrating me so much.

Took this pic on a hot desert night before everything went to hell. By the time I left the train, it was over 16 hours late and most of the toilets had quit flushing. With a mix of relief and worry I stepped out into the dry 95° sunshine of the midsummer high plains and arrived at my hotel exactly at 11 am checkout time. The manager was a kind slender white lady who approved the date change after I requested it through Booking.com, and also let me check in at 11:30 am. Now what? The whole country awaits. I think I will ride buses around the Colorado mountains, stop by my old job and pester them for my leftover stuff. A big fluffy blanket will be a game changer for sleeping rough on the cool mountain nights, though it will be a hassle to carry around in addition to everything else. This time of year is as mild as it ever gets in the Rockies.

Yeah, it sucks to be forced onward by goddamn nonrefundable bookings. Rookie mistake, hurrying across the map like some newfag who has never traveled before. I should've stayed a few days in the LA barrio sleeping in a $20 hostel, practicing Spanish, eating Oaxacan food and visiting the markets. From what little I saw on the bus, it looked very Third World and interesting.

Also felt bad about skipping sleepy Raton in New Mexico (again because of the fkn booking). Lovely forests, cheap lodging, quaint sovlful rundown streets. it looked like a great place to spend a few days exploring on foot.

I hate LA so much. I've been in southern California for 15 years and I go to LA maybe 3 times a year for a concert, sporting event or maybe to hike in the mountains. The city is exactly a bad as people say. It's filled with violent homeless people and gang members. 3 hours is as long as I can stand being in LA county unless I'm high up in the mountains where the homeless and fat Mexicans don't go.
>>
>>2897438
You sound like a pussy desu. Stay by the coast with the rich white liberals and jews, why would you go to the hood if you hate the abrasive obnoxious behavior of hood people who have never said "sir" or "please" in their entire life? Other than some muttering and babbling, none of the beach bums seemed even remotely threatening. But in the hood there are definitely bored thugs looking for trouble. An oversized black boy bumping people on the bus daring them to say anything. A Hispanic grandma gasped in shock when he pushed past her, probably thinking it was robbery (but it wasn't, the boy couldn't care less). The kind of rude insolent negro who would be the first to be outraged at anyone reprimanding him because "they disrespecting me". This psycho looking Peruvian suddenly jumped off the bus after an old Asian man stepped off and looked to be stalking him from a distance. The Asian guy didn't notice anything, or pretended not to notice anything. Only the triad Asians seemed tough and confident, and they protect their hood from the other gangs. And fat Mexicans cook tasty food. Their "I'm Mexican bro LA is Mexico bro" shtick does get tiring, and they do seem a little sociopathic with their utter indifference to strangers. The opposite of the constantly expressive and emotional black people of LA. On this trip I saw enough classy well-behaved blacks to dismiss any kind of racial preference. Trash comes in all colors. Contempt masked with politeness is a very effective shield against unwanted overtures.

Someday I'd really like to explore that area as a vagabond. Too bad the days of good paying cannabis trimming jobs are over. It used to be the go-to cash earner for all the scruffy homeless white youth...though half the time they'd get paid with a kilo of weed.

Imagine coming from literal India and still somehow being bothered by the existence of a diversity of phenotypes, personalities, income strata, etc. Stay in your safe space if the complexity and difficulty of adult human life in the real world triggers you so much. No, it's not magically different in Asia. In fact, life is tougher for Asians than it is for Americans, that's why they all want to come here to rewardmaxx.

Gotta say, my poop has improved remarkably since switching from Asian restaurants to American groceries. Gut bloating has disappeared as well. No more squeezing out little bits of poorly digested shit that burn the butthole. American food clearly mogs in quality, although everything I've eaten has been bland as fuck. So much more premium healthy foods are available here.

They know I'm gonna be okay

Travel isn't lazy, it requires significant effort on a daily basis. Bumming around in a cheap monthly apartment without working is lazy.

Working non-stop year round with no regard for seasonal ebb and flow is not traditional for Europeans. It is a byproduct of capitalism and the Industrial Age, which crammed people into cities for the sole purpose of year-round exploitation of their labor. Farmers bust ass during certain seasons, then sit easy on a comfy surplus in other seasons. Always keeping track to ensure it's not going to run out.

I've covered enough country to know that very few homeless are interested in exploring beyond the reach of charitable services. There are a few unhoused veterans and gutter punks who still cover country, but they are a tiny minority compared to the numbers of people who set up camp. The explosion of visible tent cities attests to the desire of the modern homeless to have a roof, a bed, heat, lighting, gourmet snacks, hot food, etc. None of that used to be the norm back when it was all younger men sleeping rough and living on the move, surviving on cheap wine and a sack of peanuts.

>City fags wiggling and grunting in the gym breathing each other's B.O. are disgusting. Real men get all the exercise they need from their daily life ordeals.
Real men get buttraped in Topeka trails by beer belly boomers. It's ok as long as the boomer is white

never been skiing before, will Mountain High be good enough or should I drive further to Snow Valley?

Let me guess, you went to HI and hit the uhh Target or Trader Joe's nearby? I remember doing a similar thing if so, fun times! Have you seen the comical amount of rats down the coast at night?

Okay, familiar, but then that looks like many hostel kitchens. I didn't meet any people when I was there though to be honest.

Well what have been the best parts of LA?

Most of the thread is a brown third worlder that enjoys eating shit in india and drinking shit water from the ganjes, wouldnt take too much stock into it

Real human beings with souls experience nothing but disgust and suffering in la

Big Bear is like Disney on the weekends. It can get insane, especially if the snow is good. If the snow is decent, go midweek. Honestly, I like Mountain High better when the snow is good because the entire mountain is geared to snowboarders. There are features and jumps on every trail.

If your main goal is to ski in California though, go to Lake Tahoe.

oh but that costs money bro. wouldnt you rather drag luggage for 20 kms, stay in 30 people dorms and travel around on rickety trains with clogged shitters? why are you such a pay pig?

>>2898844
also to this nigga, yes rent a car. you dont want to be walking around and commuting on whatever scarce public transport they have. the entire city is full of junkies and it sticks of piss. so rent a car.

> oh but you're such a paypig for giving car rental companies money instead of giving me a $50/day job
goodness me

hey poorfag, ever wondered if you'll be in a situation where you'd have to suck off a truck driver to get to your destination? what would you do?

also, do you plan on catching greyhounds?

I did my homework and even planned out my week using the union station to travel across LA. I am not afraid of walking around cities as I've done that across Europe to Japan. I was already told, "no matter what, avoid the blue line at all cost, and don't stay out after 11:30PM." That said I got another 5 weeks before I fly to LA and depending how this thread goes I could very well just rent myself a car. I'm frugal with my money, but same time I don't want to regret saving a $1,000 renting a car out when I could have visited everything like what >>2897486 recommended. I'm definitely a sod for those sort of joints.

when I was in Anaheim you could literally see a brown haze of gloom looming over the downtown LA skyscrapers
