I've got Autism and mild social anxiety and looking for a peaceful less crowded location in Japan to book my hotel for the last 10 days (Going mid Feb to early March 2028),I can handle huge crowds for a few days and will be booking 5 days in Shiba park hotel to explore Tokyo and spend 1 day travelling to see Mt. Fuji For the final 13 days I'm looking for somewhere which isn't overcrowded and has cool places to take photo's and experience a more real Japan

>>2897214The north of Japan is nice and it's much quieter than Tokyo. Maybe somewhere in Hokkaido. It really depends what you're interested in. They have great sushi in the coastal towns

>>2897214I haven't been to Kyoto in a long time, but IIRC it wasn't super crowded. Might be okay. I mean Japan is an interesting place, I lived in the countryside and visited Tokyo for a week. Came back and my adrenaline was still pumping as I walked down the empty street outside my apt. at night.Certain city districts can still get crowded even in small towns depending on the time of day.I'm not sure what real Japan you're looking for though. I like history so that's where I would go with this.Also near Kyoto, Nara was another ancient capital of Japan with various temples and sights.Iga has a ninja museum. The region was a famous hotbed of ninja activity, Oda Nobunaga was nearly assassinated by one and decided to try and wipe the region out.The Kumano Kodo trail runs through the region from Wakayama to Ise Shrine.

>>2897214the hiroshima/miyajima area was quite nice and picturesque and should have less crowds than the usual Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto crowds. Yokohama and Fukuoka were quite nice if you want a city life without nearly as much tourists.be warned though, the best place for someone with autism/social anxiety is honestly Tokyo. Just about every establishment deals with english speakers and most of the restaurants are fully or partially automated. Hiroshima will have the more classic food stall experience but that comes with an actual test of basic Japanese ability
>>2897214Are you looking for something rather remote and off the beaten track? Or something just less intense than Tokyo?Matsuyama is a place I liked a lot. It's a bit out of the way. The railway travels south along the coast, and with the sun setting in the afternoon it makes it feel a little like a journey to the end of the world. It's a little fitting, because you could translate the name of the famous onsen (Dogo Onsen) there to "Road's End". It has a connection to the renowned author Natsumi Soseki, being the setting of one of his most famous novels, Botchan. It's not a small city but it had a fairly laid back feel. I also enjoyed visiting the mountain top castle. That being said I don't know if you could fill 10 days there (though there are surely things to do nearby as well).
