I'm leaving for Dublin, IE, tomorrow for reasons. This is supposed to be all leisure but I never would have picked Dublin as a destination. I'm an American and I grew up with leprechaun green puke Irish Americans. Irish culture seems, to my understanding, to be relatively parochial and insular. I don't have any sentimentality about Ireland, the suffering Irish, their sad poets and so on. I understand it has merit but I've never had any enjoyment from it. I don't see a lot of hip culture coming out of Ireland. My question is, what can I do to enjoy Dublin as a *Northern European*? Is there anything cool, in the sense of chic, to be enjoyed?

Is there anything that's actually l culturally surprising in Dublin that isn't all about weepy Irish poets and religion?
As an American, three days in the city were a bit too much for me. We went to the emigration museum, saw some churches, book of kells . . . Went to the main strip of bars. Went to the main walkway for shopping. That was it. There was fuck all to do. Two days would've been fine. I wish we would've explored more of the country.

Bog bodies, old celtic golden art, medieval art etc. All free too. Take a trip to Howth for a quick day hike or Brayhead walk down south. With more time Glendalough in Wicklow. People go to Ireland for drinking overpriced shit and heritage shit.
