I've lived in tuscany for the past 5 years (as an Italian from a different region). Other anons are correct in pointing out that the area is extremely overtouristed, especially Florence. The flip side of this is that there is a wealth of information about these cities, so all you need to do is research. What are you into? Are you interested in history? If yes, what history? Roman, middle ages, renaissance, modern, contemporary? Because there is stuff to see related to all of these. The same goes for art. Florence has one of the most important science history museums in Europe, but it hardly ever gets talked about. Figure out what you want to do and do that. Do you have a car? Because a lot of interesting stuff in Tuscany hides in the countryside, especially if you want to avoid tourist crowds.

Are you talking about attractions or stuff like food? For food, if you see a restaurant that has garish menus with English as the most visible language, then it's probably a tourist trap. If you go to a gelato place and you can see gelato in large square vats, that's a tourist trap: good gelato places keep their stuff in pots that are closed with a lid, so the gelato inside is not exposed to light and air, which ruins it. Anywhere that advertises spritz in English is a tourist trap. Wine windows or anything served through windows is a tourist trap. I could go on

Florence is probably the most relevant city in the world when it comes to the renaissance. Most renaissance related sites are really famous, such as Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti, the Boboli Gardens and the Uffizi. Other ones which may not be as famous are:

>Ospedale degli Innocenti
>Villa Medicea di Castello
>Chiesa di Ognissanti
These are all in Florence. I'm assuming you don't have a car, so I won't talk much about places in the countryside, though there are many. Siena and Arezzo both have more medieval related stuff rather than renaissance. They're still worth visiting. Siena may be the most beautiful old city in the world. Arezzo is more low key but still pretty kino.
For modern history, there are several WW2 related places in Tuscany, such as the American and British military cemeteries for the soldiers who fell in the Italian campaign. There's also a Brazilian one, made by the same architect who designed Brasilia, but it's near Pistoia. If by modern history you mean the 19th and 20th centuries, there's not much else that would be of interest to a tourist I'm afraid.

That's exactly the type of tourist trap I'm talking about. L'Antico Vinaio is a restaurant chain that became somewhat of a meme in Tuscany because it started as a local joint, then became popular among tourists and quickly went international off of instagram fame. They serve sandwiches made with schiacciata, which is a sort of cross between bread and focaccia. It's not terribly bad, but it's definitely not the best schiacciata you'll find in Florence. I won't tell you my favourite schiacciata places though, because I don't want them to be swamped with tourists. Just look around. Try lampredotto too.

As long as you don't plan on visiting small towns or the countryside, it works fine. Regional trains are a reliable way to get between the big cities, but they may get crowded. The train trip to Siena is long but rather scenic.
In Florence, you may want to move using the tramway/light rail. It's reliable and efficient. It connects the airport with the train station, the city centre and the main hospital (Careggi).
Buses are more hit or miss. Florence can have heavy traffic, so buses may be late or skip rides. Download the Autolinee Toscane app on your phone and learn to use it, so you can have real time info on buses and avoid waiting 20 minutes for a bus that may never come. You can also buy tickets through the app, which is convenient.

Then Arezzo should be ok. It's definitely much quieter than other big Tuscan cities. There's some good gelato places there too.

If it's just three months, I assume you only care about hookups. Italian women rarely date outside of their social circles and cold approaches between total strangers are generally uncommon. If you are very good looking / not autistic, you may have more success on dating apps. Hinge always worked pretty well for me. Why bother learning italian? Most young people know english. If you speak mangled italian it's likely you'll just be made fun of.

Three very different cities. Siena is a small, sleepy, quaint and isolated campus town. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere, and the only social life comes from university. It also sees quite a lot of tourists. Turin is a large industrial city. It also has universities but it's much bigger and more connected to the rest of the world. Very little foreign tourism too. Bologna is kind of a middle way between the former two, large university but also relatively big city, some foreign tourism but not as much as other places.
Cost of life in the three should be comparable. Turin has cheap places to rent, but you have to watch out and do your due diligence because some parts of Turin are straight up ghettoes you don't want to live in. The problem isn't as bad in Bologna and especially Siena, those are too small to have such bad parts.
