Going to Italy for a week. What's the best food to get
>>2898020mcdonalds
>>2898020Not pizza. Italian pizza sucks compared to American pizza. I say this as someone who hates American "food" because it's nothing but slop. Italian pizza somehow manages to be worse. Be prepared to be let down in general. Italian food is overhyped. It's mild flavors no matter where you go. It's fine, but you won't be blown away by anything. Except maybe gelato. Some places have great gelato. Unless you're in Rome. Food in Rome sucks ass.
>>2898045You're being dramatic. American pizza is not good either unless you live in a area with a ton of Italian Americans like Chicago or the Northeast USA. I live in NYC and I still enjoyed Italian pizza, its coal fired and thinner relying on more of the tomato sauce for flavor than the toppings. I actually really liked Roman Pizza. Its sold by the foot and square shaped. I went to Suppli Roma and their rice balls/arancini were delicious. Across the street my foid loved Tiramisu Merisu. Italian food does dramatically improve outside of the cities imo. Rome is okay.
Which part of Italy? That matters a lot.

>>2899569The best pizzeria in Milan is Giuliano, in the Chinatown area. There are several restaurants that specialise in Milanese cuisine, which is an underappreciated style of cooking. I recommend La Pobbia, RatanĂ and Al Garghet.
>>2899584I really want to eat a big tasty burger, any good spots for that in Milan?
>>2898020Real talk: the pasta dishes at the Autogrills are legitimately good. >Bucatini Amatriciana with a Caprese salad is my pick
>>2899569Risotto is good there. If you have time to go to Bologna, it isn't far and the food is much better. Plus there's much more to do. Milan is kind of boring.
>>2899569Risotto or cotoletta orecchio di elefante
>>2898050I've always assumed the dislike for authentic Italian pizza steers from americans getting short-circuited from not eating bloated McPizzas.I've tried italian style pizzas in a lot of places and I've always considered them to be amazing.Thin, minimalistic ingredients so you can taste them in full, with freshly cut tomatoes and a slight taste of charcoal. It actually feels like having a healthy meal which you can eat all by yourself. What's not to love?

>>2901479>Thin, minimalistic ingredients so you can taste them in full, with freshly cut tomatoes and a slight taste of charcoal. And sometimes I do and it still tastes better than what Italy is doing. "Muh fresh ingredients" is a meme because you can get fresh ingredients in any country that has a farmer's market, or any first world country with a proper non-Walmart/non-Lidl/non-Aldi supermarket.Traveling to eat a plain tomato on bread is boring. I want something that'll impress me and that I can't get elsewhere.
>>2901533Because the truth that no one wants to admit is that American pizza tastes better than Italian pizza
