I worked in finance and hit it big when I was 26, allowed me to become a full time investor and I spent the past 10 years travelling and enjoying my life.

You might not understand this because you're either too broke or young to travel, but literally every country fucking sucks now. I remember travelling with parents before the world became "internet-fied" and different places felt genuinely unique. But now? Everything has been commodified, everyone just wants money, everyone sees the latest trends on social media and deploys them locally for tourists.

It's really gay. 2017-2018 really were the last good years of travelling, mainly because social media hadn't rooted itself so deeply in every human being.

So I haven't been EVERYWHERE, only about 40 countries, and I mostly avoid black countries and have only lightly travelled India, but I'm looking for suggestions on whether there is anything actually interesting to see anymore. Not looking to do Europe because that's where I spent most of my time.

Sometimes there's actually good advice here among the drivel
>>
>>2898490
the world isn't boring you just run into the thing people who constantly travel run into, being where everything blurs together. Take a year off live somewhere boring, don't think about travel then start again. It's one of the reasons I return back to the midwest USA every now and then for a couple months, helps me reset myself into a better outlook and makes travel fun again.

>Everything has been commodified, everyone just wants money, everyone sees the latest trends on social media and deploys them locally for tourists.
Anon, you're about 40 years late to the party on this outlook lmao. World has been largely trend chasing the west since TV's and the radio became portable, hell you could argue even before that.

You're just getting older and now burnt out, take a year off, focus on going to the gym for a year and doing something local in a community; you'll find value in travel again.
>>
>2017-2018
>No social media
I can't wait for summer to be over so the alphies 67 back to school.
>>
>>2898490
>2017-2018 really were the last good years of travelling, mainly because social media hadn't rooted itself so deeply in every human being
What turd world shithole did you crawl out of that didn't allow or have rooting in social media until 2018
>>
>>2898505
2017 was nearly 10 years ago.

Yes, social media existed, but absolutely NOT in the form that it does today. Influencer culture had not become so dominate yet. Shorts and reels didn't exist, tiktok had just launched and was viewed as something retarded
>>
>>2898506
It absolutely existed in a huge way in 2017 dude, you're just getting older and now instead of "NEW" thing to pop up it's just a more populated ecosystem.

2016 had social media fucking go nuclear in the USA.
>Shorts and reels didn't exist, tiktok had just launched and was viewed as something retarded
vines existed, instagram or facebook was a thing, twitter was and is still huge, etc.

You're just getting old, you're tired, and your looking at it more cynical. dumbass.
>>
>>2898506
Before TikTok it was Vine and everyone was doing Vine when I was back in high school. People became social media zombies around ~2011-2013 when instagram got popular. Social media's been a thing since 2006.
>>
>>2898512
no one was doing travel and food tour vines you retard

>>2898511
there was social media but it was not popular yet you retard. I didnt even get IG until 2015
>>
>>2898514
>no one was doing travel and food tour vines you retard
They were lmao, youtube has videos all from the 2010's of food travel reviews even
>there was social media but it was not popular yet you retard. I didnt even get IG until 2015
Facebook was insanely popular everywhere, Myspace was insane, Vine was insane, IG was, a bunch other ones that got bought up

>B-but I didn't!
Yeah you were obviously a late bloomer, decided to travel, realizing now you're like mid 30's, everyone is still moving on with their life and you're cynical towards the world now. If you had said 2005-2006? Sure, but by 2008 Obama was posting on FB, Myspace was in decline, Twitter was exploding, YT blogs and such were all over, probably a bunch of other things out there.

Take a year off back home and cool off or settle down. You're just slow in the head if you think just now things went to shit
>>
>>2898515
Oh really? They were doing 7 second vines of... what? Ramen? Jeets shitting in the Ganges?

Vine content was just humor. There was zero serious promotion of travel on vine, also no one used vine which is why it went out of business you dunce.

>muh facebook muh myspace

no retard, it was absolutely not like it was today. 2017-2019 were golden years for travel. That's like saying things in 2016 were the same was in 2006. TEN YEARS HAVE PASSED.
>>
>>2898518
Vine was extremely popular you dumb fuck alphie retard. I can't believe so much time has passed im now getting gaslit by underaged twinks who were born when i was in high school. You fuckers don't even know that Tiktok is a chink knockoff of Vine.

Anon youtubers were doing food reviews lmao, vines often linked to their YT.
>no retard, it was absolutely not like it was today
No one is saying it's bigger today, everyone is saying you're a retard for thinking things weren't internet connected in 2016. You're off by a decade. Again, you only noticed this because you're a late bloomer and late to the party. Most everyone I knew in 2011 had FB and Twitter, in 2012 vine exploded in our groups.
>2017-2019 were golden years for travel.
LMFAO what? No they were golden to YOU because it was new.
>That's like saying things in 2016 were the same was in 2006
Anon I said in my post you were off by a decade, to have anything like your OP suggested into the "non internet connected world with social media" you'd need to be in 2006-2009. You're a late bloomer, you got into your groove around 26-30, and now you're 36 and realizing your not as relevant anymore so you blame the internet. This is exactly what boomers do.

Welcome to being a boomer, you can deny it or embrace it and move on. Guess which one you're doing? Enjoy the self sabotage to your happiness.

Also think about what you are complaining about and where you are complaining, you're so fucking out of touch. I bet you still book hostels and try to hang out with the 20-24 year old's trying to be friends.
>>
>>2898522
>No one is saying it isn't* bigger today
mistyped there
>>
>>2898519
It's hilarious to see a late bloomer not realize the shit has been a thing since the first few iphones popped off and then EVERYONE had a camera and ability to post online.Keep in mind the FACEBOOK app was available for smartphones in 2008.

That was almost 20 years ago, this anon is so fucking out of touch it's actually kinda sad. Next thing he'll post is how he can get a virgin wife that isn't filipino and settle down with someone back home to raise a few kids.
>>
>>2898490
This is so ridiculously untrue. You're insulating yourself from reality by spending fucktons of money. Of course your travels will be sanitized and predictable as can be. Try being a brokie for a change. But of course you don't want to, like a petulant entitled brat you want both predictable comfort AND interesting unique experiences which shape your character. That's not how life works, pal.
>>
>>2898490
>Everything has been commodified, everyone just wants money, everyone sees the latest trends on social media and deploys them locally for tourists.
The 1940's called they want you back with your fresh new take on this new "TV" fad
>>
>>2898498
I'm with this guy. What do we got, like another month of dealing with these sweet summer children.
>>
>>2898528
I've done the "brokie" thing and it's insufferable.

>go to cheap cafe, serves only bullshit carbs
>go to cheap bar, meet retarded broke travellers who are stupid as fuck and completely uninteresting to talk to
>go to cheap places, full of aforementioned stupid broke losers

Being broke doesn't show you anything about the world. Quite the opposite. Through higher level travel I've met incredible people all over the world, I know you won't believe me but I've met A+ list celebrities in other countries and partied with them. My instagram is legit ridiculous
>>
>>2898490
We can give you a spaceship and you'll be bored after 3 months. Your problem isn't the lack of places to go, but a paucity of tastes
Learn a language, build something, join a group.
>>
>>2898490
Monolingual skill issue. If you learn other languages and can actually function in those languages the people are different. The entire english speaking world has the same algorithm now and has been homogenized
>>
Normies have invaded this board. Never mind the fucking reality that internet culture has brainrotted everyone. Zombies all of you.
>>
>>2898535
My experiences prove you wrong, but if you're so normie tier that hanging out with the entourage of le famous person is your greatest joy in life, then the wonders and insights of unconventional living will be completely lost on you.
>>
>>2898540
>paucity
>followed by le learn a language, le build something, le join a kick ball group

maybe learn less archaic language and focus on absorbing better ideas in life? faggot

>>2898550
I speak conversational Japanese, I studied abroad in Japan for a year in college.

But no, outside of Japan you don't really need the native language.

>>2898579
wow, tell me about your cool stories talking to some local janitor over a pint of guineness.

I'd tell you about stock picks that billionaires talk about... but you kind of have to be in the room for that otherwise you miss the buying opportunity
>>
>>2898584
>Japan is the only country in the world that doesn't speak english as a first language
ok n5 retard
>>

Yea I don’t listen to dork fucking faggots about life being boring.

When you’re a fucking dork faggot everything is boring.

Other travelers have never been interesting. They are usually smelly, loud, or lacking self-awareness. Embrace schizoidism. I only meet with girls from dating apps, although sometimes I will talk to a local dude my age, or a local auntie.

I typically avoid tourist spots and big crowds because I don't trust large groups of people. Herd and riot mentality is not beautiful.

I am always drawn to optimize for peacefulness. The worst that happens is I start thinking "holy shit this place is not ideal" and I plan a way to leave. I'm not hindered by others slowing my down.

Sometimes I wish there was a woman to share incredibly beautiful moments of peace with

>hop on a train to port city
>walk through market, nothing much going on there
>see coast guard ship tugging on its moaring lines which made a neat sound
>go walking on the outskirts of the city and start trekking up the mountain path
>find some abandoned outposts on the path and explore then
>in ruins since the 70s
>find a Buddhist tower that was very and soulless
>walk over the mountain range to a tiny strip of urbanism
>take the bus to the nearest train station
>go back to my outpost where I started the day

Lots of nice quiet moments, where I peace together the local culture and "lay of the land" by my self

I spent a lot of time in a cafe in one city I visited. I circumnavigated it and its periphery and just had nothing better to do. I would order milk coffee after milk coffee after milk coffee. Each were like $5. I'd go up to the counter, and the chinese barista would be like "hmm let me guess" lol I spilled one of them on me as soon I sat down because the table was wobble. Brown creamy stains everywhere. I just went down stairs and ordered another one. They probably thought I was mind broken (I sorta am)

And I wasn't doom scrolling there. I'd sit and read blogs, post my own stories, and daydream through writing.

Then I got sick of myself being such a faggot and left that city despite not getting a refund on my 2 remaining hotels nights >$100.
>>
Did you already consider suicide? Sometimes it IS the solution for people like you.

The world is boring because of people like you, you made your bed.
>>
>>2898490
assuming this post is genuine, which is quite a huge assumption
you're 36 and you don't mention a spouse/partner or anything
nobody cares how much money you've got
so you're basically just another dysfunctional 4chan narcissist
try living a normal life. find a partner, have kids. it's life's great adventure
but you'll probably just say that's too "normie" for a special main character like you so i dunno try launching yourself in a rocket or something or exploring the oceans in a tiny submarine of questionable safety
>>
>>2899617
>invoking "main character syndrome" trope
Taking pride in being an NPC isn't the flex you think it is. You just let them break you. The only reason to "settle down" is if you happen to meet the person of your dreams. Going and "finding a partner to have kids" is just admitting you have nothing better to do anymore. Having kids in general is a questionable moral decision. You call that guy a narcissist but he's not the one who's so vain that he thinks the world needs a mini version of him to carry on his NPC non-main character legacy. Make sure you inform your kid that he's just like all the other girls and he'll never be an astronaut or explore the ocean you lame motherfucker.
>>
>>2898728
Kek, you sound like a cool dude, anon
>>
>>2898490
Bullshit. People everywhere still have unique cultures and unique characters. This is a skill issue. You can go to any bar in any country and still be endlessly entertained. There's so much to learn and see in real life, it's infinite. Again, skill issue.
>>
>>2899623
lol stay solitary forever my special little friend. it's probably best your dna stops with you
>>
>>2899639
Who's solitary? I still get laid and have fun. On the other hand, I can already tell it's going to make zero difference to the world that your DNA got passed on. One more lifetime of TPS reports on some boss's desk in the future. Might as well start early and buy it a stapler for Christmas.
>>
>>2899617
NTA but I genuinely stopped caring. I tried to be nice to people, take care of myself, did what I could to work and contribute and all this shithole society ever did was reject and spit on me. I don't give a shit.
>>
>>2899647
>I still get laid and have fun
of course you do anon. that's really how people who have normal sexual relationships talk
>>
>>2899654
you and that other guy should meet up. misery loves company

I find fellow travelers interesting, but most of them are too specialized. Hardcore hikers who have trekked famous trails all over the world, for instance. Or islandfags who have visited every island you can think of. I can't keep up with their fast-paced stories.

India made me tolerant of crowds, albeit with elevated cortisol levels. Peacefulness is so much more relaxing, but too much of it and you lose your ability to handle human chaos - which IMO is a very important life skill for a traveler.

The Asian women I've encountered only see scenery as a selfie backdrop. Soon as the requisite pictures are taken, they completely lose interest in the view. White women are more likely to put their phone away and live in the moment with their travel companion. But sometimes they prattle on endlessly about whatever inane topic is on their mind. You can barely focus on the scenery because she keeps demanding your attention.

Or nomadkikes who make everything into a pennypinching surface level sightseeing tour.
