I'm an Airbnb host, have been for 8 years now.I've seen the platform slowly but surely circle down the drain over the years.I don't know if y'all have noticed but recently they've announced that they're "simplifying" fees because everyone has been complaining about them for a while now.By "simplifying" fees what they actually mean is that hosts like me will be paying for the standard host fee that was introduced years ago AND the fee that was charged to guests. Then went on about how please only 7 minute showers and not to touch the thermostat(was winter in LA but still) and how if I cooked not to use the stove unless needed. Paid 350 for the week. Airbnb isn't to make you rich or be your full time job unless you're in a place were the Euro, AUD, USD is at such a good exchange that the 500 dollars you charge for a month is living well.
Airbnb sucks. Ive booked almost 400 seperate accommodations and used them only about 5 times, never in the last 3 years. Used expedia or hotels. Com even less. Just use booking and agoda it varies by country which is cheaper

Airbnb is a gamble. Sometimes you get crazy hosts or shitty properties. I've signed up for an Airbnb account ten years ago, and I still have yet to make a booking. Even as far back as a decade ago, I found traditional accommodations either more cost-effective or less of a hassle.
