Saving graces for Malaysia are the private healthcare and the rock music. The cons are too many to name. It is broken on a societal level, what you experienced there was only the tip of the iceberg. I stayed there for 3 months and I don't recommend anyone stay there for more than 3 days under any circumstances

I got memed into visiting Taiwan. It's like visiting a dirty 1980s version of China and Japan but with none of the charm. The food is somehow greasy while lacking any real flavor, which is a rare combination. If you've been anywhere else in Asia, there's not much reason to visit. Plus the people are autistic and act more rules-based than Japan or Singapore but they somehow have the dirtiest, smelliest, grimiest country in all of East Asia.

I also visited Seoul but that was because I had a few days and figured why not. It was okay. Boring, but if I was a woman/a fag and liked kpop and fashion it probably would've been great.

-Houses are "cheap" because they are old as shit and weather/climate hasn't been kind requiring a lot of legwork
-Roads are shit, bridge chokepoints are shit, driving in the snow is shit
-Pay is pretty meh compared to cost of living, economy got a boost with trump but future is uncertain. It's easy to move there hard to move out of.
-PA laws and taxes are legit weird
-Kinda smelly
-Winter weather will make or break you, it will destroy your car quicker

The people, they were very boring, parochial, rude, and insular. I almost got into fights with two people in the first week. I could never connect to anyone besides my girlfriend there. If I started talking about say, travel or whatever people would often either clam up or end the conversation. I do not know what that was all about.

The bridges are cool and I like some of the architecture but the street layout seems designed to trap you in traffic and at endless red lights. There's not a good flow and the hills and rivers doesn't make it any easier and it seems outright dangerous in winter without winter tires that most wouldn't even have,.

Theres lots and lots of housing there, but as mentioned, a lot is shitty and old, and there's just not a lot to DO there. Like the downtown is tiny; it's mostly suburbs and residential. And some neighborhoods are kinda gritty, even if its a level above Baltimore.

Took the train all the way up to the end of the line in Penang, it's depressing. It's not overly bad like some of the stops you might see in other counries like Thailand or PH, but it's just so clearly lowest effort shit imaginable.
