Saving graces for Malaysia are the private healthcare and the rock music. The cons are too many to name. It is broken on a societal level, what you experienced there was only the tip of the iceberg. I got memed into visiting Taiwan. It's like visiting a dirty 1980s version of China and Japan but with none of the charm. The food is somehow greasy while lacking any real flavor, which is a rare combination. If you've been anywhere else in Asia, there's not much reason to visit. Plus the people are autistic and act more rules-based than Japan or Singapore but they somehow have the dirtiest, smelliest, grimiest country in all of East Asia.

I also visited Seoul but that was because I had a few days and figured why not. It was okay. Boring, but if I was a woman/a fag and liked kpop and fashion it probably would've been great.

The bridges are cool and I like some of the architecture but the street layout seems designed to trap you in traffic and at endless red lights. Malaysia has the best part of Borneo and all the nature that comes with it. I can see monkeys in any USA city, I can see allegators and crocs in the south when I come out of walmart, and so on. They are cool to see but unless you're just heavy nature it might not be worth the effort of simply seeing in a zoo or a small tour expenditure once.

Even the most die hard weebs will give some credit to people who don't find Japan interesting but Malays will die on this hill for whatever reason. Malaysia has some decent perks, recent administrative changes have made doing some of the rural shit harder. I give credit to Malaysia for being cheap, easy to get around(west side at least), north side has some good beaches, if you want to try a lot of various dishes you can do for cheap, and pretty much anywhere is doable with only english. The problem being, that every place feels sterile or fake tofu style prop ups, the locals outside of just "mayalsia is wonderful right?" are braindead worse than a pinoy, and there is very little reason to revisit anywhere in it. Yes nature is cool, but it's no way exclusive to Malaysia and there are other places with similar things.

The nature is barely indistinguishable from other parts of SEA, wow it has some old mining towns that are now Chinese compound cities and some okay(?)ish mountains I remember seeing but nothing that shocked me. the cities get quite polluted but if you are getting air quality warnings out in the sticks on the west coast then it is almost certainly haze from fires burning across the strait in indonesia. it hasn't been too bad for a while but a few years ago there was a period of a couple of months where you could barely see across the road. schools were closed etc

I never bought but when I was walking around in bukit bintang near the tourist areas in KL I had whores from all around SEA trying to blitz me and get me to monger. They were quoting me at roughly $30 and tripping over each other trying to snipe each other. A ladyboy even got aggressive once and latched on and wouldn't let go. Almost had to throw the guy into traffic. I'm just a generic fit white guy who dresses poor. The other people in the area were all fat boomers who probably get quoted much higher rates. KL has a high number of illegal immigrants so if you just want to sample from each SEA country it doesnt seem like a bad pick for a short stopover stay tbqh
