Going there for about two weeks in the end of August. Is there anything to do outside of the resorts?

2 weeks is enough for a good trip literally anywhere on earth.

Just a reminder, don't drink anything not bottled, don't have ice outside of the resort, don't have salad and don't drink any water outside of the resort (I'd avoid it in the resort too). Do not use the pool if they open it to locals and don't drain it and backwash the filters afterwards.Used to work at a travel agents, Dominican Republic has the largest rate of sickness out of any location by far and it's almost entire parasite infections. Their mains water is contaminated (resorts use their own purifiers) and every local is a carrier.
