Bavaria and Austria in September  No.2900114
We have 10 full days to spend. Flights in and out of Munich. The initial draw was Oktoberfest (been there before) but this time I want to see more of the region. Ideas currently are
>around 4 days in Munich and at the fest
>2-4 days in Vienna
>rest of the time in Salzburg, Nuremberg, Hallstatt (for history nerd reasons), or hiking and staying in some alpine cabin maybe around Garmisch-Partenkirchen
My questions are, what are the best places in Bavaria and Austria to actually see? Are tourist staples like Neuschwanstein and Rothenburg ob der Tauber worth it or overrated? Is there anything slightly unknown or out of the way I should know about?
