Thinkin' 'bout a Bergen trip April 2027.
Probably 5 days, excluding travel.
What are some good day trips? Also what's a place to stay? I'd probably just stay in the city center but if there is some cute little place that's well connected but outside the city I'd consider that instead

Bergen is nice, I won't pretend it's not but there really is fuck all to do there. 5 days is far too much. If you're into nature/hiking I'd advise renting a car and doing some local day trips. Also the weather in Bergen will be shit in April, you're liable to get 5 straight days of rain or even snow. /Out/ stuff is miserable that time of year if you're not wholly prepared for the weather.

If you don't want to do that then you should probably split the trip with at least 1 other city. The train ride between Bergen and Oslo is about 8 hours and is an activity in and of itself, very beautiful and the train is comfy. Definitely reserve a seat as it gets busy in peak season.

I went to a black metal festival in Bergen once its the only place in Norway I’d ever consider going back to but I dont know what you’d do there for that long

Aye.
Train to Oslo sounds nice.
Or maybe a ferry to Kristiansand. That looks neat.
Perhaps I'll do 2 days and 3 days doing other stuff.
