Has any anon here ever tried volunteering in southern europe (or anywhere)? I'm thinking about doing it while traveling around Italy, Greece, or France because I don't have a job but I'm kind of afraid of it. It seems sketchy, even when the hosts have a lot of reviews.

What's the appeal? Poverty, have autism, no direction in life?
>>

For me the appeal of volunteering is having a free place to stay and meeting other people. It seems like a good way to be social, travel and keep my budget low. But it also seems kind of sketchy. I don't want to be around people who smell bad all day or who can't speak english. That's why I asked if anyone here has ever done it.

I searched about it on social media but of course people aren't always going to be truthful there because of the whole woke culture.

Interesting. It's gonna be white people. Probably libtards. Coloreds don't volunteer . Could be what you are looking for just make sure you have an escape route because they will want to exploit you to some extent

>volunteering in southern europe (or anywhere)?
i did this twice
not in southern Europe
but once in Bolivia for a kinda rural medical lab
and once in eastern DRC, for a "hospital", again in the lab

but big disclaimer here
I studied
>Molecular Medicine
the first time I went abroad was during my bachelor and already had some experience with internships at home
the second time was during my PhD, so with a completed masters degree
so this wasn't just "volunteering" randomly and I knew both Spanish and French before

was awesome though

i would steer away from these "volunteering organizations", often paid
>It seems sketchy
because they are
you will do nothing of value there

I also wouldn't know what you would do in southern Europe of all places!?
really not the most common place for actual full time volunteering (unless you already live there)

why not just do a standard
>work and travel
it's easy to pick up a service job (like server) in the touristy regions
and you will get paid all right
a more long term option if you're young, good with kids and a women is
>au pair
works better in richer regions though, like poor parts of Italy or Greece might be difficult

>Bolivia
>DRC
Completely different type of volunteering I'm talking about lol I'm talking about volunteering at a hostel through Worldpackers in exchange for a free room, not dealing with sick people in a shitty country. I would never go to the DRC. I just want to stay at the beach for free.
>au pair
Again, why would I stay with a host family with kids and everything that comes with that, if I could just stay at a hostel for free with no kids?

It's a great way to get your Schengen Visa denied, deported and banned for 20 years from entering the Schengen Zone without a Visa from the embassy.
Enjoy.

I volunteered twice. The first time was at a hostel in Busan. It was a bunch of retarded russians and one black guy and me. I had to promise I would volunteer for a month but I already found a place to rent the second day and snuck out the second night

The second time volunteering was in the Redwoods in California. It was a workstay to camp there. There was very little work, had to paint some benches a couple of hours a day. They gave free food and camping and taught us about Buddhism. I stayed there for a couple of weeks while I was waiting for my visa to get processed at the embassy. It was a good experience. I found it on some workstay website where you had to pay $40 a year to be a member

Plenty of stuff on workaway in southern europe
its usually small towns with some family that wants you to help their garden or something for rent and food
>>

I don't need a visa to travel to europe lol. Are there only anons from shithole countries on this board? What is going on?
>>2901117
Thanks for your opinion. About the retarded Russians, yeah, I'm kind of afraid of ending up with nasty people or refugees. That's the only thing keeping me from doing it. It's nice that you liked your second volunteering experience. I think the location will make all the difference.

i think the difference was how i found it. the busan place i found it for free on the website, the california place was through a paid platform. i guess that filters out the absolute bottom of the barrel

normally I'm against paying for shit like that but I viewed it as "pay $40 to have accommodation in SF for two weeks"
when you look at it like that it was a steal
